  It is expected that you will not be able to adjust Visual effects in a Linux guest because of the lack of functionality of OpenGL.

  Why would you disable the active tab for the Visual effect? Page would not be refreshed when the user clicks a tab already disclosed. If you want this, you can write a disclosureListener for all the showDetailItem and do something like

  Its a great book and the best way to learn in my opinion, it's kind on the official manual,

  but this section to early mixes stuff advanced too early, which is probably better to slowly learn the latter, perhaps it's just supposed to preview what coming.
