  • El capitan extremely slow on end of 2013 iMac, especially at the start (5 minutes)

    Hello

Recently, I went from an iMac end 2006 (installed 10.7.5) to a new end 2013 iMac (with el capitan) using the migration wizard.

My new iMac literally crawls at the start: before being "usable", it takes all five minutes to present the elements of office and start (I only dropbox, 1Password, Alfred littlesnitch enabled and I cleaned all the startup and user logon items old and systemic); After this the iMac works very well, even if it's not lightning fast I must say (looks like a little lag is present for each new task: opening applications, files and so on).

As soon as the iMac starts a time machine backup is started automatically.

I used etrecheck and nothing significant has shown and also one of the @linc scripts used to test the system (unfortunately, I'm not really able to fully understand the results, but perhaps that something is 'locked'...).

Console is spammed with messages, especially at startup but projector not only in regard to, mds, xpc...

I will post any other relevant information as requested, if anyone is willing to help.

    Thanks in advance

    Ciao

Do a search on the web for how to properly uninstall McAffee software.

This is NOT necessary on Mac OS x.

Antivirus software is NOT necessary if you are running Mac runs only OS x Antivirus apps interfering with the normal functioning and operation of a Mac because they program too many controls (program extensions) into the main OS X system software impacting negatively / hinder overall performance of a Mac.

Here are some of my pieces of advice on how to avoid viruses in the future, if you encounter a virus, once again.
Anti-virus solutions can slow down your Mac, but to be honest, the best app anit-virus is you, the user, and your brain.

Do not visit questionable sites or Web site, you do not know.
Do not use Torrents or engage in "Torrenting".
Do not install pirated software or software downloaded from unknown or questionable websites or sources of untrutsted.
Java is still a problem of vulnerability, if you don't need it, don't use it.
Use a browser filter and pop-up Blocker
Do not open not attached to the e-mail addresses that you do not recognize.
Install the security updates as soon as they are available
Find out more about what threats are common and active.
Indeed, use your own brain as the anti-virus filter.
Follow that advice and in MOST cases, you will be fine and don't risk your Mac to the potential of Trojans, malware or viruses.

If you need some basic antivirus protection which will be invasive on the Mac OS X system, buy and install

    ClamXAV

  • Update of SSD card on end of 2013 iMac 27.

During the configuration of the iMac 27 (end of 2013), there was an option for the SSD. I checked some videos on the replacement of this SSD card.

My unit came with just a regular 1 TB HARD drive. I'm assuming that the motherboard has an empty slot I can install an SSD card (and install the operating system). Then I would get a faster start to the top.

How can I confirm that this motherboard has this empty slot (short to open the computer).

What are the specs I'm looking to buy this card SSD. There are a couple size SSD cards out there.

    My EMC number is: 2639

  • 27 inch Cinema Display will work ok with end of 2013 imac

    Hello

I have the chance to get a Cinema Display 27 inches for a good price. Will it work ok with my iMac 27 inch end of 2013? If so, is there a difference between this model and the current model of PQ crush?

    Thank you

    Hi, Richard.

    Please visit Apple support communities.

I understand that you want to use a movie with your iMac screen compatibility.  Without knowing the technical data of the movie screen and looking at your specifications, this view should work with your end of 2013 27-inch iMac.  Your iMac has two Thunderbolt ports that can support the Thunderbolt screens and output Mini DisplayPort.  Below, you will find more information on the specifications of your system and the use of several screens with your iMac.

  • race of retina iMac 5 k very slow!

I bought this iMac a year - 1/2 years ago. The first months worked well. But since then, it is incredibly slow! It takes forever for anything either load, the beachball showing constantly and is even when you type. My internet connection is fine, so is not. I called Apple support last year and the diagnostic test came back as ADPOOO (no problem) and Apple support person told me to reboot and press a few keys shortcut (don't remember now) and it seemed to solve the problem... If only temporarily! The question came back quickly and I got frustrated and ended up not using my computer much and just use my ipad and iphone instead. Now I need to use my computer and the problem is obviously still there. I could call the Support, but this time that it will cost $40, so I'll do this as a last resort if I can't find a solution here. I have attached the report of EtreCheck below. If someone could help me I would be very grateful!

    Correctly, uninstall the security software.

If you do not know how, do a web search to find how to properly uninstall the security software.

It is not necessary on Mac and OS X and use all the resources of your Mac.

If you really need the security of your computer, change the security setting inside the software for your Internet MODEM/router.

    Good luck

  • Ray is not available for end of 2013 iMac Tracing?

I own an end 2013 27 "iMac.  Graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce GT M 755 with 1024 MB of RAM.  Next to the current Mac Pro, why can't use us Ray Tracing on ANY mac product?   is there a work around us with the video cards NVIDIA GeForce GT class?  I have CUDA 6.0 installed, but I still get the message that Ray Tracing will use the CPU and not the GPU.

If anyone has any additional information that they would be willing to share, I would appreciate it.

    Thank you!

Are you sure you need to use the traced the beam 3D rendering engine? This is a deprecated feature that is phased out in favour of means of working with 3D in After Effects. Unless you know that you really do need this feature, I recommend no friction on the issue of whether your hardware can use it.

BTW, you can choose an option in the preferences of After Effects use a GPU not supported for this feature. But be warned: "unsupported", means what he says.

  • Rumble of 21.5 end of 2013: iMac

A few months ago, I became aware of a rumble. At first I thought it was Thunder far away and ignored, but after the noise continued for a few weeks, I realized, it was the computer, a late model 2013 21.5 "iMac.

The noise is intermittent and not heard every day but almost certainly every day. He 'scolding' for a few minutes then stops for a while before doing it again. It seems to come from the rear left (that I see on the screen).

Any ideas / suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

From your description of the problem it seems that the noise comes from an exhaust fan, likely to be worn or contaminated by debris.

Have Apple evaluate it. Use the link https://www.apple.com/support/contact/ to find the service allowed in your area.

Replacement, if necessary, is not particularly difficult or expensive.

  • very slow Powerbook fine, iMacs

My family uses 2 iMacs (1 2013, 1 earlier) and an Apple Powerbook at home. 2 iMac is incredibly slow, but the speed of the Powerbook is fine. IMacs both have a lot of unused storage and memory and I completely restored two iMacs and deleted unnecessary files, but they are very slow. I have everything back up on Dropbox and wonder now if the slowness is something to do with the combination of the signal at high speed and by using several connections of Dropbox in the House.  We have a Virgin Media Hub Super 2ac with advertised broadband router of up to 150 Mbps. I made a speed control using www.speedtest.com and the download speed is 105.81 Mbps and download speed is 9.70 Mbps. Any ideas anyone?

You can view a report of etrecheck for later analysis

    www.etrecheck.com

but I would like to disable and remove dropbox to test the system and if they improve the problem there.

  • Slow pre-launch sequence on end of 2013 rMBP13

Hi guys, I tried to understand this problem of slow boot for about a year and a half now, and I can not pin down what is the problem or how to fix this reliably.

I have an end of 2013 rMBP 13 running El Capitan (although the problem existed in Yosemite as well, but I don't remember what happens in the Mavericks) and 10 Windows in bootcamp (it used to run windows 8, but then the slow start came with it as well). I don't remember exactly when this happened first, but it was about half a year or so after Yosemite was released. I was running Yosemite and windows 8 in bootcamp without problem before and Maverick and the same installation of windows 8 before a year very well.

    The problem:

The laptop appear to have a slow sequence of pre-launch. I press the power button, hear the Apple chime, then wait about 20 to 25 seconds until the apple logo on the white black screen or selection of start up, screen am I holder of options. After the apple logo or the boot selection screen, it starts normally in less than 5 seconds on the desktop. All the following which works perfectly well without notable accidents and slowdowns during normal use. Also never actually, it fails to start or give any error message.

The delay seems to also occur before the computer records the NVRAM reset - I must press Cmd/Opt/P/R for about 20 seconds before the screen backlight turns off, the computer restarts with a second chime.

The biggest problem is I switch between OSX and Bootcamp quite often, and I need to sit near the computer and hold the option key for nearly half a minute each time when I do that... Otherwise everything else works as expected.

    Things I've tried:

Reset NVRAM - I think it would work once a large earlier. Right now reset which does nothing for the boot time.

Select volume OSX in the startup disk - I tried this time OSX recovery and even in the recovery of the internet. This used to work once or twice sporatically, but no longer works. I also tried setting Bootcamp partition as the starting volume, and it still does not work.

Reset SMC - never done any good.

Wipe the disk and reinstall - it's been a while since I've done it, but I remember that it worked fine when OSX is the only volume, but when I install bootcamp and then try to select OS x as the default volume, he is still confused and slow down during pre-launch.

Repair of permissions of the drive and stuff - has never done any good.

Wiping Bootcamp - worked at least once, but as soon as I reinstall it and boot in there and back, the same problem occurs.

The changing property and rebuild kextcache-

    sudo chown root: admin /.

    sudo kextcache-system-pre-bound-kernel

    sudo kextcache-system-caches

It was the last thing I tried with success. I have done this in the terminal about 3 months ago and restarted. Apple logo appeared in the 5 seconds of power and I was super excited. But then I started in bootcamp and returned and the pre-launch was always again. Now it is once again not even speed up the first reboot.

Any idea guys? I feel as if it were an EFI problem where laptop computer confused at where to start from and he concludes then somehow in 20 seconds. But if that were the case why not selecting disk start not fix it? Also why it not immediately save the NVRAM reset?

I don't know if you still have this issue, but I think I could have solved on my rMBP after finding http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/209-69-windows-bootcamp-black-screen-blinking-curseur-Age-boot(not without first OS X repartitioning and by performing a clean installation, which now seems as if was not necessary).

I had to get Windows Recovery mode.  F8 does not seem to work with boot camp to the to do, I started Windows and held down the power button to interrupt the boot sequence, after that 2 - 3 times it would show "Please Wait" instead of the usual circle of points (10 Windows).  Otherwise you can use the Windows installation media, but I had only one practice ISO file I installed via boot camp assistant.

Open the command (under Advanced Recovery).  Enter the following command:

    Bootrec.exe /FixMbr

    Bootrec.exe /FixBoot

    Bootrec.exe /RebuildBcd

From there I could reboot and there was no delay start in Windows.  In now option button to select the startup disk also didn't cause any delay and was admissible.  I started to OS X and selected my OS X disk as the startup disk, restarted several times and did not have questions that I would have usually experienced.

My guess is that it may have been caused by a recent update of Windows 10.

  • very slow iMac, running el Capitan

My iMac has been gradually slow down over the months. I thought that the update to el Capitan would have helped, but it didn't - but I don't think he's done worse.  Every thing I do on the Mac is slow. When I opened the window of the application of the sidebar, it takes several seconds to draw all icons. Opening of Firefox or Safari takes minutes and moving between tabs is almost impossible.

I repaired disk permissions, zap my PRAM, reset the SMC and booted in safe mode and Open firefox has a little faster but the opening request file has been slower. Perhaps. It was probably the same substantially.

I have an iMac running 10.11.4, with Intel core i5 2.7 GHz, 8GM memory and 470 GB free on the hard drive. Activity monitor shows that the activity monitor using most of the CPU (1.6%) with Firefox on the same.

I am really frustrated with this. I thought my computer was pretty new, but can I do? Thanks for any help.

Because it seems as popular to do something, I have downloaded and run Etrecheck. Pasted below results. Thanks to all those who can help you.

    1. Uninstall sophos av-ware in accordance with the instructions of developers.

It robs your system of valuable resources and not necessary with OS X

2 remove any UN-nessessary launch, the user login items and Internet Plugins user.

line flow and execution less stuff at the same time

    3. upgrade your RAM.

  • 4 k editing help with iMAC "End of 2013"

    Hey guys

I hope someone can help me. Recently, I bought a DJI Osmo. I started to record in 4 k. I used to edit in 1080 with no problems on our iMac. Now, with the edition in 4 k, he becomes so nervous that its virtually impossible to change.

So far, I've completed a disc clean up public services. Delete most of the files etc (I have 100gig free space of 1 TB). I cleaned my desk so absolutely nothing is running. Computer restarted to refresh the systems only run Premiere Pro CS6 and then start editing. Whenever I play a 4 k clip or watch the preview, he gets very nervous. Now whenever I watch an excerpt my CPU % is allocated 0.5 for first (idling) to 200% of the CPU.

The system and the card I have is the following:

iMac 27 inch end of 2013

    Intel Core i % 3.4ghz

    8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

    NIVIDA GeForce GTX 775 m 2048MB

Any help is greatly appreciated. Please explain in a more simplistic as possible form. Also I am not eager to reduce to 1080. Want to really get the vids from 1 or 2 to 4 k and see what they look like. For your information, these videos are intended for Vimeo, Youtube, and Facebook.

    Thank you

The fundamental problem is that the files of the OSMO are difficult to read for ANY computer. As Jeff said, h.264 is hard work for your computer, read, and the OSMO files are really quite large for what they are. This combination means that you will have a much easier time if you convert your videos in a codec that your computer can play more smoothly, such as ProRes or DNxHR.

If you do this first, it will be much less strain on the CPU because he won't try to decode the images in real time.

  • To upgrade my iMac 27 "to the end of 2013

To upgrade my iMac 27 "to the end of 2013, that I must have only in 8 GB, 16 GB or 32 GB? Or for example, I add two 8 GB to the two 4 GB that are already on it, which would make 24Go? Please could someone with experience on this technical question to me, and others know if it is the right thing to do or not, thank you.

You can improve to 24 GB if you want, that's how my 2011 27 "model and it works perfectly. If you upgrade the RAM please only use OWC (www.macsales.com) or critical (direct purchase). The reason is iMacs are sensitive to the brand or RAM cheap offshore. Both OWC and Crucial sell high quality RAM at reasonable prices and impeccable service.

  • my 27 Imac late 2009 became very slow

My 27 Imac late 2009 became very slow - I think especially after I've upgraded to El Capitan. Otherwise, everything in the computer works perfectly and I m using only 200 I have the 1 TB. Onyx and other tests can't find anything wrong. I mainly use my computer for word documents and to manage his photos about 30 000. The internal memory is 2 x 2 GB. Does anyone have any suggestions of what I could do to speed it up? Thank you.

I wish I had an answer, but all I can do is rather echo to your problem. I have a 19 mid-2007 "iMac, contributed to the maximum with the RAM, 1 t disc hard less that half full, who did the same thing - he has worked with El Capitan until I updated to the latest version. Once that has happened the machine became so slow as to be unusable. It would take ten or twelve minutes to record a mouse click. When I restarted the machine, it took 32 HOURS to start (Fortunately it isn't my main Mac production).

Last week, I tried all the remedies of common sense - by removing unused software, keeping an eye on the activity monitor (there is nothing fancy here), etc. Finally, I did all the stuff start, PRAM, run utilities disk (no noted problem) and even tried to reinstall El Capitan to a bootable USB I did with my first Mac, the reinstall, but seemed not 'take' somehow - he wanted to repeat the installation procedure again and again.

I use the little Mac for Internet, e-mail and (as Karlis2) deal with some of the oldest pictures in my files - I'm sure that I have pictures on Time Machine, so I'm not too worried about it, but this was the first Mac way back in the day, I bought with my money and I'm a little sentimental on and would like to resurrect if possible... I wonder if there is a way to restore the operating system to an earlier version and it would make a difference?
