end of support

I've seen on the homepage of Vista that helps those who don't have no service pack are key to an end, so I'm good if we have not these service packs will continue to support, I got Vista Basic for over a year so I don't want support in conclusion, allow me to clarify this If we have service packs mentioned support will continue, can someone confirm this please, j62

Support for Vista (without Service Pack) Gold ends April 13, 2010. After this date, the computers running Vista but will NOT be offered for additional updates of critical security, automatic updates do not work, and you will not be able to update manually until the SP1 or SP2 is installed.

Support for Vista SP1 will end on July 11, 2011; CF. http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/?p1=12534

Does that mean if my version of Windows is no longer supported?

We are a University use an updated internal development of e-Learning applications which makes use of a framework rich client (ZK - www.zkoss.org). For reasons of compatibility with this application, as well as other general factors, we have standardized on FF 3.6 browser for all our desktop computers. Normally, we will review our browser selection once a year and make the changes/updates to compatibility level for 3 rd-party libraries we use and our own code, in order to address new developments in the browser market.

However the FF of the new policy of difficult liberation our lives check. FF 6 came out just months after 5 FF. We perform an upgrade, we have to do a systematic series of tests, settings, changes etc. regression tests. The cost is not possible for us to do this every 3 months! So please can anyone point us to a clear release plan for FF that shows, for each version:

    a. Release date
    b. End-of-support date
    c. Release notes
    d. Compatibility in terms of HTML and Javascript/ECMAScript versions.

New versions are will be released every 6 weeks, so until Mozilla announced they will do than support for a LTS version for business 'customers', you guys left to swing in the breeze as well as to be able to plan for the future with Firefox. I think that as long as the said decision is taken, support for Firefox 3.6 versions will continue. A 3.6.22 release is under development right now, probably for immediate release next week.

As far as the end of support dates, as each new version is the version support ends for the previous version, with the exception of 3.6.x. currently Firefox 3.6.x and 6.0.x are the only versions that receive security updates. Firefox 4.0 and 5.0 is not 'supported' any longer.

  • Windows XP end of Support: latest updates?

I know that extended support for Windows XP is expected late next week.  Issues related to the:

    (1) there will be a final round of Windows updates on the regular date?

    (2) how long updates (whenever they have been issued) will still be available after the end of support?  I have a computer at another place that has not been updated for several months and won't be available before end of April.  (Of course I'm looking for to determine the feasibility of that upgrade to Windows 7, but this will not happen immediately.)  I also have a copy of "Windows XP mode" (SP3) on Windows 7, a new machine, but it has never been implemented and there must be way out of date...

    (3) what updates Office 2007 on my Windows XP machine that (I think) are also carried out through Windows Update?  Those that will end next week as well? -JCW2

    (1) maybe, maybe not. We cannot say for sure but probably.

    (2) the official statement from Microsoft I saw not known, is here...

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/enterprise/end-of-support.aspx

.. who just said they will be available after April 8, but not how long. In light of this statement...

    http://blogs.technet.com/b/MMPC/archive/2014/01/15/Microsoft-antimalware-support-for-Windows-XP.aspx

.. one could be forgiven for thinking that it might be more than a year.

    3) office 2007 is still supported, make sure that you are on the latest service pack and you must continue to receive updates.

  • End of Support with Windows XP - how to proceed now?

With the announcement of end of support for Windows XP, I have some confusion with the improvement of the OS.

    1. for my system: I will be able to access my system in a similar way as before? Upgradation will not affect my old programs & settings?

    2. for the system of my friend: it is his system with a new that has Windows 8, so how do I move my system data from windows xp to the new switching system?

    (1) before even thinking about upgrading your old system, you must consult the manufacturer of the computer to see if it is expandable to a newer operating system.  Drivers, etc. Yes, the upgrade 'will' effect your old programs and settings. You start with a complete new installation.

    2) ask in forum Windows 8.

  • End XP support question

I read through the different links and they don't really answer my questions about the end of support for XP. They are in fact quite vague.

Without going into why, I have the following questions:

    (a) I always will be able to validate the installations of Windows XP? (from existing legal keys)

    (b) will any service packs / etc are available up to the end of support date still be able to see?

    (c) Will Microsoft update for updates that were available to date still be available via Microsoft update?

    (d) could you please send a url to the Microsoft document, which sets out? I won't notice.

    Thank you

  • Can I activate and save my Windows XP PRO after its end of Support

The end of Support for Windows Xp PRO is this 2014, can I still activate it if ever I will plan upgrade beyond 2014.

Yes - MS will continue to offer XP Activation services beyond the end of life.

They also promised at one point issued a patch to remove the conditions of activation - but don't hold your breath! :)

  • Can I still use Windows XP after the end of support?

I've always found XP easier to use and more effective than the two 7 and Vista and for this reason I have currently no intend to update, even after the end of support. However, to make sure it works please.

You can still use it but less and less software will be written for it, also there is no update, and if you have a microsoft problem will not be able to help you.

  • End of support for Windows Vista?

I read on the website of mutiple Microsoft gives more updates for Windows Vista Home Premium after April 10, 2012. Is this true? On the official Microsoft page (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/products/home), it says: "Microsoft sells more than Windows Vista, although we will continue to support. It is still available from some retailers. " And when I look on the end of Support page (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/help/end-support), he said only that the support for SP1 had completed last year.

So I'm a bit confused. I would be grateful is someone could clarify that for me.

    Hello remco8264,

Please see the end of support for the OS to Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 at the following link:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/products/lifecycle

You wouldn't get updates for Windows Vista SP1, but if you install your service pack SP2, you will always receive updates.

    I hope this helps.

  • End of Support Windows - activation request

I have a question about Vista end of support. I installed Service Pack 2, but Windows is not enabled and therefore does not as authentic a version and it asks me to enter my product key. Unfortunately, the sticker on the bottom of my laptop fell half of so I can't use it. What can I do? I don't want to buy a new key - Windows cannot stop my Vista to work?

    Hello

    You can reinstall Word

the key is that if you don't have the product key for Vista later, you'll have to reinstall the correct way with the recovery discs

I advised you to ask the computer manufacturer if you encounter problems with the recovery discs in my 1st reply:

"manufacturer recovery disks normally do not require a product key entry (ask you them about it).

    Good luck with it

  • I will be able to reinstall my windows if necessary after the end of support for Windows 7?

    Original title: windows supports

Last year, I bought Windows7 Home Premium and it works well so far. My question is after January 2020 (after the end of support) I will be able to reinstall my windows if neede? Also if there is no microsoft activation problem help me right here? Also even if the support of the application ends with its suppliers I will be able to download mse, it's to say & essentials of windows from the microsoft Web site myself since the automatic update is not available? or I'll be forced to buy Windows 8, 9, 10 or 11 at this time? Sorry people I know that this issue is too early and not be worried right now but I love windows 7 and I want to run for life so is this possible? Thanks in advance.

    1. Yes, you will be able to reinstall Win7 using the disks provided with your computer, the rescue disks, you have created and/or the hidden restore partition.

    2. where support for Win7 purposes, take in charge ends (for example, activation problems).

    3. There will come a time where the current version of Windows (Live) Essentials is not supported in Win7 - even if your currently installed version of Windows Essentials may continue to be supported for some time.

    4. by the time for purposes of Win7 support, chances are THAT MSE is no longer supported.

    5. No, you don't will be not "forced to buy" a new version of Windows (assuming that Microsoft is still for sale).

  • Some Queestions regarding end of Support & Malware Protection in windows 8

    Hello..

I use windows 8 company on my desktop pc (3 GHz Intel Pentium D, internal chart of 256 MB, 1 GB of RAM)...

    Question 1-

I read on the diagram of lifecycle on the Microsoft Web site, "customers have 24 months to switch to Windows 8.1 after general availability to remain supported. See Windows 8.1 FAQ for more information"- does that mean? right next to it, it was written that this window of 8 standard support ends 01/09/2018... so, how do we have 24 months to upgrade? Pls explain. I feel like I'm on a sinking ship while using windows 8... :(

    Question 2-

My internet connection is measured. so I disabled the windows updates to backup my data. According to my knowledge, I think that, when support ends, only the "windows updates" function won't work, right? I'll be able to install other applications of office & windows store apps even after support for purposes of windows 8?

    Question 3-

I can fully count on the defender of windows for windows 8 for the security of my PC? I have a doubt if it blocks online attacks or not...  Also, windows Defender will receive definition updates after the end of support for windows 8?

    ------

Thanks in advance to all Seraphim :)

Question for you: why don't you not upgrade to 8.1 of Windows and the subsequent update 1 for Windows 8.1?

It isn't a thing of charges and if you do it right (backup, make sure system image backup, data of course your device drivers are updated to the manufacturers, updated to Windows 8.1) - the risk is minimal all the problems arising (this is an update, there are always risks to perform or not their fulfillment).  Assuming that it is only your Internet meter - you must learn to work around that.

Another link Internet (even another computer) allows to get the ISO for 8.1...

Overall, no matter what, you'd be better to have the latest edition of the operating system that you have chosen to use that to hang on some old version of the above operating system.

    Hi Desertgator,

You will not receive updates and security patches as soon as support ends. Microsoft is not updated and release. Therefore, upgrade to the latest version of Windows.
