  The old HDD on your machine is a little thicker, but at least 4 screws I do not think that new SSD will circulate in the case. I have actually put new SSD in one of my laptop (not HP) and no problem, BUT I don't move this laptop. If so, blue tac can help.

  I bought the HP ENVY 15 t-j000 Quad Edition and opted for the WSSD 24Go cache as well as the hybrid drive 1 TB. Do I have a problem just buy a kit of cloning and spend the hybrid propulsion system to a full on SSD in the future if I choose to?

  I did some research but I can't isolate an answer if yes or no I might encounter problems on account of the Intel RST be "associated" with the traditional HARD drive caching.

  So I wonder if I can't just simply disable acceleration of RST, clone HARD drive for an SSD via a cloning kit, remove the HARD and the SSD drive and call it a day?

  Any help with this is appreciated!

  Well, I think a pure 2.5 "SSD should work on the system but make sure the cache is removed. For the purposes of cloning, I suggest using the DD command:

  Hello. Anyone know the size and type of the screws from the bottom of the HP Envy 15 t-j000 Quad Edition ? These are the small screws that hold the bottom cover of the laptop basically. Somehow mine fell and it is causing many problems. The tilt is extremely limited to a specific position. Disturb the position of the laptop while it is will cause a weird vibration because of the fan on the left side.

  If someone could let me know what is size and the type of screws used to lower cover , and where I could find them, I would really appreciate it.

  That is probably why it is not installing.

  The driver is designed for RAID configurations.

  I know it does not install not in IDE mode, but I wasn't sure of the AHCI mode.

  If you want the latest AHCI driver for your configuration, you can get it directly from Intel on the link below.

  Download and unzip it into a folder.  Do the manual update method by going to Device Manager, and then click to expand the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers category.  Click the listed SATA AHCI controller.  Click on the driver tab, click on put up-to-date driver, reselect the thing browse and navigate to the folder that you extracted the drivers to.

  Make sure that the include subfolders is selected and should install the updated driver.

  What is the new portable Haswell? This laptop supports modules SODIMM DDR3 1600 MHz, but take a look what original config is. HP uses memory especially two modules config so if there are already 8GB it will be probably 2 x 4 GB modules. I recommend this one:

  My machine came with windows 8. I created the recovery using HP Recovery Manager and then CLEAN Media installed windows 7. Now, I want to take the ferry for windows 8. USB recovery I created got no .exe file. And on Windows 7 there is no HP Recovery Manager.  What should I do?

  I stumbled upon your post on the laptop and wanted to help you! I looked in on your HP ENVY 17 t-j000 Notebook and your issues with HP Recovery Manager. If she has deleted this partition completely, you will need to use your recovery CD or USB key you created when you bought your laptop. Here is a link to use the HP Recovery Manager.

  Here is a link that shows you other ways to restore the laptop back to 8.1 for Windows. The selection shows how to use a USB device.

  So what happened to the original hard drive? In fact, I used to have a phone of this series of model HP loaned me to facilitate my work here. I put a bunch of different hard disks in it and was seen troulbe restoration if they plant using the self-created HP recovery discs. Through the Forum, I learned to roll the date in BIOS to January 14, 2014 and then do the restore. In the process, the date resets, but once I did I have no more problems. The 320 GB drive should be sufficient in size to contain a HP recovery.

  Recently bought above system with 16 GB RAM, who has left no option for installing a drive mSATA, given the options.  I am reasonably sure (based on other sites that speak of this laptop) that I can install a player mSATA.  However, I also wanted to include a second HDD and found the kit of equipment needed to do, jumped the HDD enclosure opened door to see that there is already something (seems to be) the mSATA slot.  The device in the slot has a sticker on that we'd believe that it is a wireless network adapter.

  My question is... is the mSATA slot in the Bay as well as hard drives or somewhere else.  If it's in the same Bay, which could be in the slot other than a disc mSATA mSATA?

  I have the same model of basic computer in my possession. The mini-pcie slot, you see indeed has the wifi card. It is not for a reader mSATA. The mSATA port is not accessible by the back door. It is under the motherboard and the system board must be removed to access it. The best advice if you want to improve speed is to do as suggested and install a 2.5 inch SATA SSD in the main Bay and put the original mechanical drive in the second Bay. If you are determined to get to the slot mSATA, here is the Service Manual:

  This manual does not even the mSATA port, but it's under the motherboard.
