Envy 17 ": faulty keyboard HP Envy

I bought my laptop HP Envy about a month ago and everything that I am not too impressed - expensive given how it was! The mouse is capricious, it crashed several times (and Yes - all my updates and antiviral software are certainly aware), but the most worrisome is a serious malfunction with my keyboard. Now, it is impossible to use a particular character more than once in quick succession without first waiting 3 seconds as the discount system. For example, if I wanted to type the word "estate", I have to type "juice" (wait 3 seconds) then "these" (another 3 seconds wait) then "Zion." It is the same for the BACKSPACE and return - which, as you imagine it is enough to drive me crazy.

This is really outrageous and unacceptable. I am a graduate student busy who need to write thousands of words each week, and this product is shockingly bad.

HP: Please help as a matter of urgency!

Hello

On the Start Menu, open setting, then easy access and keyboard - make sure that both "Turn Sticky Keys" & "Turn on filter keys" is disabled.

Kind regards

I bought a laptop HP 2000-2B10NR with a faulty keyboard.  The key for the letter V is broken.  A HP technician took the position that the broken key was a misuse of the user and refused to do anything. Interesting take when position they never actually looked at home.  There is not a misuse of the user, making just of poor quality.

I replaced the keyboards before, and it is easier to do it myself than to deal with a HP technician less than helpful.  My questions: 1) can I replace the key individual or what I need to replace the entire keyboard? (2) does anyone know where I can buy the necessary spare parts? (3) are tutorials or Web pages on replacement keyboard for HP laptop?

You can replace a personal key as long as the points of attachment on the keyboard of origin are not damaged. Get an original with the material for mouning key can be a challenge. There are some eBay entrepeneurs that break the keyboards and sell different keys, but find yours is not always easy. I don't think that's it, but there are a few interesting Guides here and you can see it is difficult to get just the right key and support structure:

    http://www.eBay.com/ITM/HP-L2000-laptop-keyboard-key-keys-replacement-kit-/130424717717?PT=US_Laptop_Replacement_Keyboards&hash=item1e5deb4195

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

    Your keyboard reference number is:

    698694 001

For $18 for the entire keyboard, it makes more sense to just replace:

You can replace 5 keyboards together in the time it takes to replace a key. It's like building a ship in a bottle get the support structure bit working just on the right. My old eyes aren't her a plus.

  • Faulty keyboard on the P20-504

When I start up the laptop area password for BIOS and open a Windows session to automatically fills for the first time. After you press enter and then insert the passwords I can use the laptop. Has anyone else encountered this problem? or is it a defective keyboard?

    Thank you very much!!

    Hello

I never heard this strange issue.
Have you had problems with keyboard if you work with other applications?
If this is not the case, this isn't a keyboard problem.
I would recommend to get into the BIOS and change the BIOS password or completely disabled this option.

  • Faulty keyboard on Satellite A110 under warranty - how to contact the ASP

    Hello

How to get a replacement for my A110 keyboard? (I use a USB keyboard for this type).
A couple of keys do not (letter a & to the left). I know there has been no spill, I'm not that daft about drinking near him.
I had a quick look round the site, but he said no in my series. was not valid.

    Thanks in advance,
    Micky

    Hi Line

It is very easy, you will need to contact the ASP in your country and guys explain how to act more.
The warranty is valid, so everything should be done for free.

Don t worry ;) and make a call just the ASP.

Here on the Toshiba page I found a link to the ASP database in the world.

  • faulty keyboard

I bouht a keyboard wireless and mose MS model 3000 V2.o a year ago. The letters on the keyboard has been ogg, even if my use is very light and intermittent.

MS over the phone told me that it is normal wear and tear even if I find that it is supposed to be a 3-year warranty. so is terrible and disturbing. Microsoft should not be selling a keyboard that has the letters fade so that the keys are not readable.
Microsoft. to this day, refused to replace the product under their warranty.
I love the keyboard. If only I could read the letters about it. I don't think it's fair that I might have to paint over the letters with nai; Polish or something.
Can someone tell me someone at MS that I can contact to try and get this replaced?    Mel THX (I hope, I've done this right)

    Hi, Swellmell,

    Read the warranty:

This limited warranty does not cover, and no warranty of any kind is provided with respect to the subjective or aesthetic aspects of the hardware device or software

I saw old keyboards more of 30 years who still have letters on the keyboard.  After about 7 years, with another computer, I noticed that the s was becoming very worn out, barely readable.  It's a HP/Compaq

Always have your receipts and the literature of the warranty?  I suggest make copies of these two (blocking on the originals) and return to the original place of purchase.  If they refuse to replace the goods, contact Microsoft again and ask for a replacement.  You will need to mail keyboard to Microsoft with the copies of the receipt and the warranty.

  • Faulty keyboard. Aspire ES1-512-C5YW.

Hello everyone. My keyboard has stopped working. I use the keyboard to the screen which is very slow. I asked Acer support assistance, but it seems that their keyboards are defective, too because they have not responded. I would be very grateful if someone could offer a solution please?

Update 06/11/16. I tried to reset the battery as suggested a very useful member of the community, but it did not work. I have now connected a keyboard separated through one of the USB ports and it works fine, so I think that the fault must be a defective keyboard but I'n not too savvy about these things, so I'm not quite sure.

Acer technical service also responded to my request. It will cost over £47 just to send it to evaluation, and that's before the cost of any repairs. I can't say that I am particularly impressed as a qualified and experienced computer repair technician who owns a store near me says he charges just £5 to replace keyboards, if that is the fault!

I'd be happy to hear from someone else if they have any suggestions?

    Hello Lawrence,.

Nothing happened when I pressed the F2 key, but I have good news. The problem is resolved.

I received an email from Acer support and followed the steps described their techno. It worked.

I copied the steps below for your information if you find it useful.

Please press windows + X to open the Device Manager.

    > In Device Manager, expand keyboard > right click and then click on uninstall.

    > When you are prompted to confirm that you want to remove the device, click OK.

    > Restart the computer.

    > After the computer restarts, the drivers will be installed automatically.

It is interesting to note that AVG were not able to solve the problem. The problem has been identified on their Tune Up view so I thought it was a problem of AVG. I contacted them and they tried to fix it without success after spending some time with him.

Thanks again for taking the trouble to respond with solutions. I really appreciate it. I would buy you a pint if I could!

I now have to learn to navigate around the pages of the Forum of the community because it's clearly a useful source of help.

  • Equium A200-15I keyboard problems

    Hi all

I have recently been given the above laptop it has a keyboard very worn with a few missing keys etc... Having bought a replacement keyboard I got it replaced, and it seems to work ok except for a few problems. Close keys don't seem to work or work strangely, for example:

-nothing happens when I press "A" key, but when I press "S" key, I find myself with "qs" appearing on the screen
-Same problem with 'Q', when I press the button, nothing happens but if I press 'W', I find myself with a tab size space key and a 'w' but not 'q '.
-'a' appears, along with a "when I press the button to the left of the"1"key
-the 'X' button also does not work, but did not appear with anything else again.
-Same with the key 'E '.
-by pressing the '2' key fact appears "12", while pressing on the '1' works well
    -windows key, also does nothing.

The shift and caps lock keys work fine. The keyboard was nevertheless new out a package, it is true that on ebay, but the new. I guess the main culprit could be a faulty keyboard, but the letters appear when others touch seems weird.

If anyone else has experienced this problem or have solutions? Whatever that either would be appreciated.

    Hello

I think you should test another external USB keyboard.
If the USB keyboard would work correctly, the problem is related to the new internal keyboard.
Parts bought from Ebay could be compatible or if you have bad luck, the part will be not compatible or even defective.

  • Some keyboard keys do not work on my Qosmio F60

    Hello

I've had my laptop for 2 years now and never had any problems before but recently some of the keys on my laptop keyboard do not work as the fn key, i, e, r, t, y, u, i, o, = etc. Currently I use an external keyboard to overcome this problem. I did a complete reinstall but problem still persits.
Can you please perhaps where the problem is. It's very confusing that some keys work well, but some are not.

    Kind regards
    Abhi89

    > Can you please suggest where the problem is maybe.
In my opinion the problem is faulty keyboard. As you can see full OS reinstallation didn't change anything. It must be junk hardware.

Sorry, but I think that the keyboard needs to be replaced.

  • Satellite C660 - new internal keyboard does not work

    Hello

I'm completely stuck I have a portable satellite c660 keyboard did not work.
So I bought a replacement keyboard and installed and checked in the Device Manager and it says it is there and works correctly, but the replacement keyboard still does not work.

I updated the bios and uninstalled the keyboard drivers and reinstalled them that I've done everything I can think off to try and get this new keyboard working but I am having no luck and could so with some assistance.

Have you ever checked if the USN external keyboard works properly?

I ask because in the case where the external keyboard does not work properly, the internal keyboard problem could be related to faulty keyboard controller (motherboard) or a problem of system m.

In case the external keyboard would work properly, you had any luck with the new keyboard. It might be possible that the new keyboard is malfunctioning.

  • T8100 keyboard, some keys don't have or cause menus to open

Because of virus, worm, or something bad, I did a full reformat and load of XPpro. Seemed to work fine, but I found that the letter 'L' has not worked. Drivers loaded from a CD, eBay but still no 'L '. Reform and reload OS and now the letter 'U' does not work. Lucky the installation code didn't have an 'L' or 'U '. The 'u' of inlay opens a menu of accessibility.

Haven't tried it but I'm sure and external keyboard will work because it is a function of the OS (isn't?) I managed to get the network adapter installed during an effort, but at the present time, I have no ability to direct download to this machine. Download and burn on the desktop.
    Any ideas.

    Hello

In my opinion, you should first try determine what can be the problem and if there is some malfunction of the keyboard. It will be very interesting to know if there is the same problem with the external keyboard.

If you reinstall the operating system using the recovery CD, avoid any problem, except for a faulty keyboard. Please try with external keyboard if you have a.

  • Keyboard on Satellite A200 problem

Hi, while hoping a bit of insight into what the problem may be with my Satellite A200.

It started with one single key works does not, then one other has stopped working. Then I would press a key, but it would come with a different letter on the screen. Then it got really bad, I couldn't use the keyboard at all because of the random letters would seem I typed, eventually escalating to the point where letters would appear constantly on the screen when the keyboard has not been affected.

Tried to uninstall and reinstall driver, did not help. Tried a usb keyboard which was great until tonight. Usb keyboard or the laptop keyboard are working when tapped, yet sometimes random letters appear on the screen.

I was ready to replace the keyboard if it was just a problem of keyboard, but now I'm wondering if it might be the motherboard. Everyone knows the same or similar problem?

Nothing has been spilled on the keyboard.

    Thanks for your help.

It's very confusing when the keyboard USB doesn t work too. At first, I thought faulty keyboard, it must be, but I'm afraid there is a serious hardware problem and I don't think you can fix it alone.

I recommend you contact nearest Toshiba authorized maintainer and ask for help.

  • Satellite A30 303 keyboard does not work

When I type something with my keyboard without characters appear on the screen. I've tried to sort by reinstall the keyboard drivers, but this makes no difference. Please, can someone advise?

    Hello

On this path, it is not easy to give you any adequate explanation why this happens. In my opinion, the only thing you can do is to preinstall the device with the recovery media. If the problem persists even is the faulty keyboard or there may be a problem with the contact.

Try to remove the keyboard from the Device Manager, and then restart the device. As far as I know, there is no special driver for keyboard and it is automatically recognized by the operating system.

    Good bye

  • Satellite M40x - keyboard repeats L

    Hello

I have a M40x for two years, he make a keyboard buffer overrun, there is continue a beep and if I use windows Notepad, I see a LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL, but I'm not press the L key!

I unplugged the keyboard and it's the same thing! How can I solve the problem?

Where I could find the datasheet of the keyboard controller? I want to fix the motherboard, I love this laptop!

A technician of the Toshiba repair center could tell me how to do?

    Thank you.

    > I unplugged the keyboard and it's the same thing! How can I solve the problem?
    > Where I could find the datasheet of the keyboard controller? I want to fix the motherboard, I love this laptop!

Unfortunately, these service manuals are not for public use and to my knowledge only the Toshiba certified maintainer could have access to these documents and manuals.
So just say that you will not be able to find such instructions on the page to Toshiba.

But my first thought was a faulty keyboard. If replacement of the keyboard will not help the jury of the entire system should be replaced because the keyboard controller is a part of the mobo!

Sorry, but I don't think you'll be able to fix the motherboard.
If the Board is too bad then it must be replaced

    Best regards
