Envy laptop: a mind of its own?

I've had this computer for a month and so many times I almost throw it out the window. I can be sitting in the room of this thing and for some unknown reason it just click on the websites on its own. I have not yet needed to be near him. If this thing click on a porn site, I get seriously angry. I'm going to my old Vista machine running again, at least I felt some control over it.

This post of @EmeraldAvenger should provide you with guidance. Please let me know if you are able to disable the touch screen.

Thank you for reaching out to the Community Support from Apple. I know how important it must be able to count on your devices work as expected, and I have a few steps that should help resolve the behaviors you see.

I would recommend to go by resetting your management system (SCM) controller. MSC helps control and regulate different material on your Mac, including Bluetooth systems.  This article will guide you in this process: reset the management system (SCM) controller on your Mac.

If you still experience the issue after the test, you can test the behavior to a test user. This will help us to determine if the problem is systemic or isolated to your user account. This article will guide you in this process: How to test a question in another account on your Mac user

Just in case you need a "dfitto", I second what said Tommy. It's almost certainly a hardware problem, and overheating is more likely.

  • Windows has a mind of its own?

    A few weeks before that I demoted Win.8.1 of Win8. I can't support either.

Tonight, I get a message that my computer needs to reboot for Win.8.1 can complete loading.

I never said I wanted to move to 8.1. Windows has a mind of its own

and upgrades to the next version without worrying about whether you want it or not?

    Well, I guess I'm stuck with 8.1.

    This happened to someone else?
    Bob

It apparently * a * is happened to others, even though I have yet to see it happen first-hand (or with anyone I help/manage personally who chose to not move to 8.1 for a reason any.)

If most of the 8/8.1 aversion is the interface - 8.1 is the best choice because it gives more options to customize without know entirely too much about the inner workings.

If you don't mind a suggestion - check out the first post in this discussion to see if some of the suggested changes would help you with your discomfort with Windows 8.1 or not...

  • Want 5530: Mind of its own!

When I try to print labels under my laptop the printer ejects the labels and prints on the next piece of plain paper.

If I use the printed page and copy to labels it works. HP says that it is because the printer does not recognize the paper. If this isn't when I copy why isn't when I ask it to print?

However, if I put 2 sheets of labels into the tray paper he rejects the first and prints on the second - it's really a mind of your own, but at least I can do it now!

    Hi @KathyB3023

Thanks for posting in the HP Support forum. Welcome aboard!

You can try to reinstall Windows and possibly update the drivers to try to solve this problem.

Your portable device came with a DVD or recovery for Windows USB support as he joined scores of recovery (HARD disk) that can be used to restore your PC to its original default state factory.

Ensure that your video card video card drivers are updated, all the great drivers are updated and that Windows is also updated.

  • Cursor has a mind of its own

I have a toshiba satellite PCs running windows vista, service pack 2. I use a touchpad synaptics instead of a mouse.  Recently, I went to the microsoft hotfix to fix a number of issues that have been resolved. However, my cursor began to do his own thing like later - as scrolling, opening links that the arrow crossed, highlighting blocks of type, etc.  Instead of my traffic action through a click or tap of the buffer, the cursor active almost everything what it touches.  I have changed under the mouse settings in the control panel and adjusted the settings in synaptic Touchpad, but the problem persists.  All of the suggestions.  Ken

    Hi oneplus1,

I suggest that you update the touchpad drivers from the laptop manufacturer's website and check if it helps.

How to help when we do not know what model of laptop and operating system do you use?

    Screensaver enabled or disabled?
    Do you use factory settings?
Did you install additional software which can have an influence in all this?

Sorry my friend, but it is not easy to discuss issues on this path.
Either offer some relevant information or... Google. ;)

  • The volume control has mind of its own

I have a HP1428 DV7 ca, Win 7 Home Prem 64 bit running. Recently my volume control seems to have achieved a clean mind. At first I thought it was related to HP MediaSmart, so I removed it. It stopped at the volume control bar to constantly and irregularly flashing on the screen. However, when I open the mixing table under windows I see that it is always very strange, the volume increases in fits and starts. None of the volume controls at the top of the keyboard do not work. The MediaSmart button stays on and the mute button is not the drawer of the volume control does not work either. I thought that removing MediaSmart and put it back in place, it should correct the problem, he didn't.

    Thank you.

    Hello

It may be a hardware problem with the band capacitive itself, but about the audio, try the following.

Download IDT Audio Installer on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp45001-45500/sp45073.exe

One time finished, open windows control panel, open Device Manager and open sound, video and game controllers.  Right click on the IDT device and select uninstall - also, you should get a command prompt to delete the current driver, check the box to enable this and then proceed to uninstall.

When finished, restart the computer and let Windows load completely.  Open your download folder, right-click on the IDT Installer and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  Once this done, do a right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select playback devices.  'Speakers and headphones' left click once to highlight, and then click the Set Default button - check if you now audio.

The MediaSmart you make reference to the application's HP MediaSmart SmartMenu, which can be downloaded and installed from the link below - you must have at least a MediaSmart application installed before installing SmartMenu.

    HP MediaSmart SmartMenu.

    Kind regards

  • my cursor has a mind of its own-why?

When you type in a word doc, I noticed that my cursor jumps all over the document while I type sometimes...? Why this might be happening?

Most of the time your cursor jumps if in a laptop, the touchpad can be too sensitive.

Check the laptop Touch Pad drivers are installed
Go to control panel, click the mouse and then go to the TouchPad tab check the properties of the touch pad, and slow down the cursor.

If this does not help, consult the website of the manufacturer of the computer.

    Sincerely,

    Hi Karma

Looks like you have problems with the Touchpad on this laptop.

Laptop many keyboards have advanced options that are designed to allow movements that simulate the touch screen functions.

Examples: options, sensitivity, scroll, Pinch Zoom, a slippery finger gestures other than simulate the pressure of a button or double click when touching a certain area on the touchpad, etc..

To check this, I would recommend that you attach a standard USB mouse to the laptop computer and disable the touchpad. See if this prevents the problems you are having.

If this resolves the problems, open the properties of the Control Panel/mouse and look for a tab that has the Touchpad options.

If you let us know the brand and model of the laptop, we can study this further.

  • mind of its own... restart

I am running xp, my computer few matter what his doing.to let it run without having to restart, it must be in safe mode. What can I do to solve this problem.

Safe mode is nothing else than Windows running with the bare minimum of necessary programs.  Many other programs and services to start when you start in Normal mode.  One of these programs is probably the cause of your computer down.  The General method of attacking this program is to disable the program selected, reboot and see if your system crashes.  Eventually, you will find the program that is causing the problem and when you do, you will probably know how to solve it.  The Microsoft program used to control assistance and services startup programs is "msconfig".  This article provides general instructions for troubleshooting:
