Envy of HP dv7 froze after update from HP

I ran the HP update for Intel processors this morning and now it is frozen.  He has been on a black screen for over an hour now and won't do anything.  Can anyone help?

    Last night I updated to windows 8.1 8 and have had problems since. I have a 64 bit HP ENVY #C2L94UA # ABL m6 after update, I tried to play Devil may Cry game that worked perfectly under 8.0 and then he comes to start charging the computer turned off. All the options of wiping my computer clean and refreshing failed. I said that it lacked a partion for one of them. Even system restore will not work. It shows my Ati video card in device manager. Please help me ty

    OK I solved my problems that I did start the computer in safe mode and then I uninstalled my cards video from Device Manager. I then restarted the computer and installed the version of catalyst that was said to work with 8.1 and switchable graphics cards. I have restsrted and have more no video issues at all.

    I have uninstalled/reinstalled FF, all my modules and also tried to delete the cookies.sqlite document in the FF profile file, nothing happens. I counted, there are 14 sites listed in preferences > privacy > pane show Cookies (no pun intended) and they are all sites of "ad". These sites are also listed as sites blocked in Adblock Plus. Until a person pick up, I give up, I don't know what else to do.     Little puzzle, this particular post was not the first in which I posted this question. However, it is the only one that I thought was actually posted on the forum. The first two attempts, I thought had not displayed. Today, there are all the posts with the same problem.     Try the following.

    Download IDT Audio Installer on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

    One time finished, open windows control panel, open Device Manager and open sound, video and game controllers.  Right click on the IDT device and select uninstall - also, you should get a command prompt to delete the current driver, check the box allow this and then proceed to uninstall.

    When you are finished, download and reinstall the Chipset driver at the following link.

    One when you're done, shut down the laptop, unplug the power adapter, and then remove the battery.  Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.  Reinsert the battery and plug in the AC adapter.

    Robinet tap away at the key esc that you start the computer to launch the Start Menu, and then select f10 to open the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the default values (sometimes it's f9, but the menu below indicates the correct key), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press ENTER.  Press f10 to save the setting and still use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press on enter.

    Allow Windows to fully - charge it will automatically load an audio driver, but let just this complete.  Then open your download folder, right-click on the IDT Installer and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  Once this done, do a right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select playback devices.  'Speakers and headphones' left click once to highlight, and then click the Set Default button - check if you now audio.

    I made the updates for the first time to my laptop T60 - some directly from the Lenovo Web site and other tool ThinkVantage (which I've also just updated!).   And it seems that at each update, or some of them, the desktop becomes cluttered with icons.  They seem related to updates.

    And you can only imagine how many updates have been made if I didn't all over the years for the T60.

    But these are really cluttering up the desktop.

    It is difficult to be sure because this screenshot has been drastically reduced in size, but looks like you have your system set to download everything on your desktop if all updates are on your desktop now. Once installed, you probably don't need them, but before you remove, I would move them to another folder. If one of these files were actually needed and installed in your office, then you would end up with error messages, or that something works do not. If after moving, them and all seems ok, it's probably OK to delete, but do so at your own risk.
