Equium A80: pin 45 and 47 to weld on a non compatible drive - Solution

This info is for those who had problems with there readers.

My dvd drive does not work so I'm a new Pioneer one. This has much more assured that the drive provided with the satellite A80. But the pioneer played very jerky way DVD. It was of course because DMA was not enabled and allow him to anything I could do. I have changed the registry event is done everything to nothing.

The reason seems to be that the Pioneer dvr - k16 is set to CSEL and view of the A80 seems to be ' cable select wots that! The solution was to weld the PIN 45 and 47 together on the pioneer who forces "master" mode.

It's VERY tricky to solder and you invalidate all warranties. However the pioneer now works incredibly well.

I'm glad I did.

Thanks for the info, but like you said this procedure would eliminate the guarantee and perhaps soldering pins could damage the drive (if anyone has any experience).
So I think that the best way is to buy a compatible player and do not set pins.

  • Equium A80 - BIOS does not detect new CD/DVD drive

    Hello

I had to change a DVD player in my laptop Equium A80 earlier and now have problems using the restore DVD to my laptop to factory settings. I updated the BIOS with the latest version available, but the BIOS is still not able to see the DVD player, so does not start a restore. The DVD is fine once Windows has loaded and works very well on another PC under BIOS. I tried another DVD drive on the laptop, but he is unable to see anyone.

Anyone have any ideas on what I can try?

    Thank you!

    Hi mate,

First of all the CD/DVD drive must be recognized in the BIOS that you can boot from the CD/DVD drive. Otherwise it of not possible to boot from the Toshiba recovery disc.

What is the type of the old/new CD/DVD drive?

The user manual contains a list of compatible drives. It appears here? The fact is that not all drives are compatible with all laptops.

  • Equium A60 problem overheating and stand-by

Yes, again, someone else has a problem with overheating Equium. I thought and knew that it was a foul, I checked the CPU and it looked like 2-4% and the fan still worked riot. But recently, I noticed when I press ctrl alt del to remove the Manager tasks, the CPU is more than 50% (73% was highest) and she quickly falls to 2-4%. When he's sitting their without programs or additional processes running. So I aint got a clue whats with her.

The problem of confirmation suddenly started today. Usually, when I close the lid of my portable computer goes off standby. Today I did it, but after about 5 seconds, to be on stand-by there walk back by himself while the lid was still closed!

So two problems here... lucky me. If anyones got any help to share its much appreciated, cheers.

    Eddie,

The microcntroller of power on your responsible MB of the amount of current alternative used to charge your battery, and once the battery is fully charged no extra power is used. The battery must warm up all supported actually, but fully charged when it should then cool even when plugged into AC power.

The adapter itself will always get warm (if it is not hot) when the notebook is turned on because it provides food for the notebook.

EMI the single more general cause of overheating is the lack of air through the radiator of CPU, or because the radiator itself is blocked by debris (as described in the previous post excellent) article of air flows blocked by the bad location of the notebook.

Excessive fan operation is an indicator course of the CPU, not too hot. If the radiator is clear (warm air can be felt through it), then the next most likely culprit would be excessive use of CPU in which case I would check in Task Manager to see exactly which processes were underway and who used the most CPU.

  • Equium A80: PS2/USB adapter does not work correctly

I have a satellite A80. I bought an adapter to allow me to use a graphics tablet on the usb ports. The adapter gives a ps2 keyboard and mouse ps2.

The adptor is recognized by windows and displayed in the list of hardware. It also shows the mouse connected to it as a gift. But, the problem is there is no movement of the mouse either and the ps2 keyboard does not work either.

    Any ideas?

    Hello

I have never used these adapters and I can t give you a solution, but I can only speculate on this issue.
I think you should check the mouse options in Control Panel. Here, you can also configure the settings. It is possible with the USB mouse, but I don't know if this is possible with the USB - PS2 adaptor. However, you can check it out.

I remember, a friend of mine tried to use the keyboard PS2 on the desktop PC.
He bought a USB-> adapter PS2 but it didn t work.
The technician had said that there could be an IRQ problem.

Well, you can also try to go to Device Manager and select mice and other pointing devices area.
If he has listed more than peripheral mouse so I recommend disable it and only turned on the PS/2 compatible mouse.
Try to do the same thing with PS/2 keyboard.

What is the PIN Vsup, and that means the "sup?"

The 9474 requires an external 5-30 volts continuous. It's what connects to Vsup. The "sup" stands for "supply".

  • How to pin folders and files to the taskbar?

I have a few updates from XP to Windows 7.  How to pin folders and files to the taskbar?  I got a lot of these in my XP Quick Launch bar.

    Mike

PIN Windows Explorer in the taskbar and you can right click to get your recently viewed files.

You can also add toolbars to the taskbar.
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-GB/Windows7/add-a-toolbar-to-the-taskbar

A toolbar can be any folder in Windows Explorer. So you can put any selection of files to a user created folder and access these files quickly thanks to a simple icon in your taskbar.

However, don't go overboard you can quickly run out of space on the taskbar. My toolbars are interspersed between the program pinned to the taskbar, tasks and links with the Noification area to the right. The section of the program will go to a second line below according to the needs and so you can limit the space allocated to programs if you wish.

  • Satellite A80 - video controller (VGA Compatible) driver missing

    Hello

Recently, I reformatted my laptop Satellite A80 recently and after you have reinstalled Windows XP, the video controller (VGA Compatible) driver is missing under my devices. I tried to search the Internet and the Toshiba site, but found nothing suitable.

My graphics card is ATI Radeon X 300.

Can someone give me some advice?

    Thank you!

    -Saintvida

    Hello

Driver can be downloaded from Toshiba support page - http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads but under product type, you must choose the option ARCHIVE.

The strange thing is that you wrote that your laptop has ATI graphics inside card.
    Are you sure about that?
What Satellite A80 did you exactly (A80 - xxx)?

  • Equium U400 taken from the United Kingdom for US - need a compatible AC cable

First of all... WARNING drunken muppet, I'm rubbish with technology so forgive me for any stupid statement, please?

Okay, so I what I * think * is an Equium U-400 - it definitely says Equium on top, so I can be pretty certain about it. I turned it upside down (not while it was turned on, you will be pleased to know) and unfortunately the useful the label on the bottom with all the information used, probably because of three years to sit with her on my lap. But I think I remember seeing the little U-400 about it at some point. I bought it in June 2006, if this is any use (probably not).

In any case, in addition to being a bit slow these days the laptop itself is fine, my problem is with the AC adapter. First of all, there seems to be some sort of connection badly squeezed into the end of the cable that connects the laptop to the adapter box, almost always jiggling to get to the function which is a real pain and means that portability can be a real problem. So, obviously, I need to buy a new power adapter. BUT... I moved to the United States permanently in two weeks, so it is more logical for me to buy an adapter US so I won't have one of these things to plug converter use all the time. I had a noodle on the Toshiba site autour us and it seems they do not even have the Equium series out there, and obviously all AC adapters on the European site are oriented towards UK and IT usage.

Can anyone help? Anyone know what adapter, if any, could be compatible? I would be very very grateful.

    Your in great anticipation,

Flaky red Derbyshire, currently resides in the great state of KY

    Hello

Equium U400 Series notebook is very similar to the series of satellites.
Toshiba U400 European model looks a lot like the U405 series in the United States.

So in your case I am looking for the AC adapter for the Satellite U405 series.

    The satellite must support a power adapter that provides a power of * 19V * and * 3. 95A. *.
The value of intensity could also be a bit higher, but the Volt value should be the same.
    You can find a satellite U405 AC adapter * 19V * and ~3.95A

However, the European Toshiba adapter supports input 100 ~ 240V 50/60 Hz and it's a universal power adapter that can be used in all counties in the world.

    Good bye
