  • Old hard drive files to the new laptop, problem of promise.

How to move files from my old hard drive to my new computer?

My old HP laptop dv1010 (Windows XP) has stopped working. The reason why it has stopped working is likely a defective power supply.

I remove the hard drive from the dv1010 and linked to my new HP laptop dv7 - 6143cl with a Unitek Y-1031 USB2.0 to IDE.

I have no problem, see the file with Windows 7 using the 'computer' link in the start menu. But I can't open one because of the permissions windows opens.

Yet once how can I move files from my old hard drive to my new computer?

    Hello

It is a utility that will add "Take Ownership" to the contextual right click menu.  The download is on the following link.

    Appropriating

It is a zipped file.  If you do not have an extraction utility installed, download and install 7-Zip , which can be used to open it so that you can run the Setup program.  Then just right click the folder zipped, select 7 - Zip and extract the files.  When you're done, open the newly extracted folder and you can find the utility to add "Take Ownership" to the right click menu.  Double-click it to install it and then close the window.  You should now be able to right click on the files you need to access and select Take Ownership.

  • Can't erase hard drive MacBook Pro - "could not disassemble the drive.

I lost my original install discs Mountain Lion. Spin a MacBook Pro (2011 model).

I found some articles that show you how to remove & reinstall everything without use of the physical disks. It is to restart my MacBook, pressing command-R, will using this toerase my hard drive and disk utilities

However, when I try to wipe my drive, this error message appears: "erase disc failed with the error: failed to unmount disk.»

I have attached a picture of the error that is displayed.

On the left side of the utility window of disc (see attachment), there where hard disks are displayed, it shows the drive of 500 GB Toshiba MK. Directly below is the option "Macintosh HD."

This error ONLY appears when I try to erase the disc from Toshiba. But this allowed me to erase the hard drive Macintosh option. Why is this? My drive was nonetheless erased? Or I still have to do something else?

Thanks in advance for any help on this matter.

Please check this thread: Erase disc failed with the error: failed to unmount the drive. Mavericks running

  • Use disk utility to erase hard drive, erase everything, it

I just use disk utility to erase the hard drive of Windows base.  It has 6,2 GB of space.  The erase process takes only a few seconds.

I read that it could take hours.  I suspect that he does not erase the hard drive.    I have several old PC drives and want to use disk utility to erase.

How would I know if it works?

I would just use disk utility to put those (journaled) in Mac

  • HP 250 Portable G2: 0xc0000225 error code. Hard drive is not accessible, computer laptop HP 250 G2

I'm doing a clean Windows 8.1 64-bit as a result of a fall, but I'm getting 0xc0000225 error code, using built-in HP recovery utility. Installing Windows also says: Windows could not retrieve information about the disks on this computer. Kindly help. Thank you

If your computer is originally shipped with Windows preinstalled by HP (as it should) - it would be better to use the HP recovery media that will repair Windows, applications, and all the default partition to factory. It will use the license of your machine for Windows and should automatically active Windows after installation.

If you are using the 8.1 Windows installation media, you may need a facility to post license Win (depending on the type of used windows).

-If you want to use the original that are preinstalled windows, you can get a HP recovery media as described above

-If you are using the 8.1 Windows installation disc and install Windows from using your driver's license, follow these steps:

1 boot from the Windows DVD
    2. click on install now
    3. in the configuration screen, click Custom (Advanced)
    4. click on Drive Options
    5. Select the partitions to format
    6. click on Format - this will delete EVERYTHING on this partition - format and delete all partitions
    7. create a new partition, and then select a partition to install Windows on.
    8. continue the installation.

If the Windows installation disc does not work for the above you can do the following to reformat your hard drive:
    1. download a Gparted ISO from here:
    http://gparted.org/LiveCD.php

2 burn the ISO to a CD or DVD
    2. start from the CD/DVD of Gparted disk.
    3. use Gparted to delete all partitions on the hard disk.
    4. under 'Device' choose Create Partition Table to a new table partition.
    5. create a NTFS partition (or you can wait and create a partition during the installation of Windows).

Finally, boot from the Windows installation disc and install Windows.

Let me know if it works for you

I PUT THE ORDER OF MOOSE FROM THE BIOS...

This is the original factory specifications for your laptop HP Pavilion ze5375US. According to the specification, this model left the factory with Windows XP Home Edition is installed. • erase hard drive

I had to wipe my hard drive on Pavilion dv6. This is because malware destroyed partitions and I had to use EaseUS Recovery Wizard for data recovery. Now, I would like to format the drive, but it is impossible because the Windows CD cannot map the drive. It was very difficult to access this drive on another pc...

So I'll erase all sectors with Active KillDisk-disk and then reinstall windows. Maybe it works?

  • where is the hard drive on my HP? Laptop

I have a laptop HP I have just purchesed new and no manual. I can't find the hard drive. I received a titanium safety drive, but don't find any disk drive. Computer shows drive D with memory.

    Thank you

Oh THIS kind of hard disk. No, you do not have a. You can get a DVD burner external usb for not much money. If you have another computer with a hard drive, you can copy the contents of the disc to a Titanium flash drive, with a little more effort, you can make the disc on another computer available to the Sleekbook on a network or you may download the files of titanium on the Internet and use the key on the drive they gave you when it exists.

My Dell Dimension 9100 does not work and I would try to run the hard drive as slave on my PC toshiba laptop. Is it possible or it would have to do on another office?

    Hey Danny,

    ·         What exactly is the problem you are having with the Dell computer?

Most laptops will not accept that the two internal hard drives.

You will need to check with the manufacturer of laptop for more information on the connection of two hard drives to your particular model.

You can also use a USB hard drive which you can then use to retrieve the data on your hard drive to the laptop via the USB port.

I do not see why it would invalidate the it. Just keep the original hard drive to the warranty period and after that do what you want. You can (I guess) increase the RAM or HARD drive under warranty (using products listed under reference numbers in service manuals) so why not swap a hard drive for an ssd? However, the guarantee only covers failures related to the EHR. It won't have a negative impact on the laptop, but I wouldn't call HP customer care first.
