  • Error 80040154 from Windows Media Center Receiver Service

Had this problem now for awhile on Vista Home Premium SP2 - when you start Media Center, I see low-resolution logos and control icons and when I run the application 'Live TV' I get the error ' files needed to display video are not installed or working properly. Please restart Windows Media Center or restart the computer "."

I tried SFC/scannow with no apparent violation in system files, but verification of the services I can not manually start Windows Media Center Receiver Service and get the error "Windows could not start the service Windows Media Center Receiver Service on local computer" with "error: 80040154 class not registered" listed.

This is getting frustrating - all wisdom?

    b. type DCOMCNFG , and then press OK. (This will load the "Component Services")

    c. navigate to Component Services, click computers, my computer, DCOM Config application PDF.

    d. right-click and select Properties.

    e. Select the Security tab.

    f. in "Launch and activate permissions" select personalise and press change.

    g. press the Add button to select the "Network Service" account

    f. click on the OK button, and then test your application, it should work fine now.

  • Windows Update, error 80040154

    Hello

I have problems with a system virtualized Server 2012 is not able to receive Windows updates. The system is configured to check for updates, but not download them. Shortly after clicking check the updates, I get an error message with the code 800040154. I searched the net and found some possible fixes:

    • Compensation %WinDir%\SoftwareDistribution folder
    • Restart the service WUAUSERV

    • Disable Windows Firewall
    • Disabling the antivirus

None of these corrections helped. The system can communicate with the internet. Here is an excerpt from WindowsUpdateLog.log, things I see as potential clues are in bold:

Windows Update does not display a driver update. I have a sony vaio VGN-NR430E and vaio does not recognize my computer automatically. When I go to their website to update, I don't see a driver update that would solve my problem. I don't have the info installation driver.

I am answering my own question. It turns out that my graphics driver is not compatible with live 2011. I installed an older version, and it works very well.

    Hello Kalis.Heart,

    1. What is the operating system installed on your computer?

You can try the methods below to resolve this issue.

    Method 1:

It seems to me that your antivirus software may cause this problem as it comes also with messenger.

I suggest to disable antivirus and firewall temporarily and check if you have the same problem.

Note: Please make sure that you enable the antivirus software and firewalls after the test to keep your computer protected.

    Method 2:

I suggest that you reset the Windows Update component. You can follow the link below and use the fixit who will automatically reset the Windows Update components:
