  80070005 means "access denied", you do not have the right to not want you wanted.

  So were you connected to your administrator account when you try to install SP1? You must.

  Once the download is complete, create a folder on the root drive (the drive where Windows is installed on, usually C:\) and name SP1.
  Now move the downloaded, saved, on this file standalone installation package.

  Configure the system to boot

  80040153 translates into "class not registered".

  I recommend trying to re-register the DLL from Windows Update files by using method 4 in the article below:

  NET Framework 1.1 SP1 (KB979906) wont install on my pc

  Try the following procedure for error Code 643: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/KB976982.  The .NET Framework Cleanup tool can work where manual uninstall does not work (I don't know, but it doesn't mention anything on particular problems with a fix so maybe it works).  Make sure you follow the instructions exactly regarding the order in which to do things or the process will not work and you may find yourself with a more serious problem than you started with.

  If this does not work, and still, you cannot uninstall, then please repost your question in Forum Windows Update:http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/threads , where updates experts will be happy to help you.  Please post with the information requested here:what to post in the Windows Update forum
