    Hello cm16.

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that you receive a message indicating "Problem of Scanner," unable to copy or scan using the Photosmart 6520. I will do my best to help you! I recommend you plug this printer into a live wall, not a surge protector. I just want to see if that makes a difference.

I would try to do a hard reset on your printer. Leave the printer turned on > unplug the power cord at the back of the printer for more than 60 seconds.

  • Comctl32.ocx component or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid

    ORIGINAL TITLE: Comctl32.ocx

    Hello

I'm trying to run a program on my computer, but it says ' comctl32.ocx component or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid "." I saw this topic on the forum before and read your responses to these messages. I tried to find the file missing by typing cmd in the start menu, but that failed because the file is not found on my computer. I also did a systemscan as you said in another post, to check if all the Windows files are there, and the scan did not the missing files. But I can't find the file anywhere comctl.
Could you help me? More information: I have Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit).
    Thank you!
    Jeroen

    Hi Jeroen,

We appreciate the effort that you put, to try to solve this problem.

What is the name of the application you are trying to install?

Microsoft Visual Basic ships with several ActiveX controls (.) OCX files). These files are automatically saved by the Visual Basic Setup program during installation. The developers want to often save or cancel registration of these and/or their own witnesses at will. This can be accomplished by using a tool such as RegSvr32.EXE or it can be done programmatically through Visual Basic code.

You can try to update Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 common controls and see if the problem is resolved.

    (a) go to http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=10019 and download the installer.

    (b) If you are not successful to run the file normally for the first time, refer to http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows7/make-older-programs-run-in-this-version-of-windows and install it in compatibility mode for Windows XP.

    (c) try to install the program

    For any future reference.

Refer to this article to see how how to register program and Unregister. OCX files.

If you have not had luck in iTunes (https://discussions.apple.com/community/itunes/itunes_for_windows?view=discussions#/?tagSet=1234) forum, uninstall and reinstall iTunes as described below:

To perform a "clean" iTunes installation uses this technique proposed, from Support of Apple HT1926 article.  (If you are using Vista, see THIS instead).

Go to control panel > Add/Remove programs
Remove these applications in the following order (do not restart your computer if you are prompted during this process):

    1 iTunes
    2. Apple Software Update
    3. Apple Mobile Device Support
    4 Hello
5 Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)

    6. iPod for Windows (this may or may not exist, be it, it is not necessary, then we can remove it)

    7. iPod Updater

    8 QuickTime

Open my computer > C: > Program Files
    Delete these files (if present)
    1 iPod
    2 iTunes
    3 QuickTime

Follow these steps if the message "cannot delete iPodService.exe: it is used by another person or program" appears when you try to delete the folder of the iPod.

    1. Make sure that you have iTunes and iPod Update utility are not open.
    2. Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete.
    3. Select Start Task Manager.
    4. Click the processes tab.
    5. Locate the iPodService.exe in the list.
    6. IPodService.exe-click and choose end process.
    7. Quit Task Manager.

    Empty your temp directory:
Open my computer > C: > Documents & Settings > username > Local Settings and delete the contents of the folder called "Temp".

If you don't see the local settings, enable hidden files:
Tools > Folder Options > view tab
Select Show Hidden Files & folder, and then click OK

Once this file is empty, restart the computer

NOTE: If you have trouble uninstalling applications, or if you have a problem, reinstall iTunes because the installer complains that it can not uninstall the current version of iTunes, see the 'Installation issues' section below.

Download & reinstall iTunes from here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

    Installation problems

There are several tools to deal with problems installing or uninstalling applications.  If you have these problems, the following should help.  Before using one of these tools (including #3), you must create a restore point from the system first (or back up the registry with C:\WINDOWS\ERUNT).  See http://windowsxp.mvps.org/registry.htm a complete disk image would be safer if you have this ability.

1 Microsoft has a program install and the resolution of the problems of the uninstalling which is supposed to "work better" and be "safer" to use the old Install Cleanup Utility (3 below).

    2. free Revo Uninstaller.  You can also download a trial version of uninstaller Revo's ' Pro', which has a few more aggressive cleaning options, but this should not be necessary.

3 Microsoft Windows Install Cleanup Utility.  Although this tool has been the preferred tool to deal with the problems of Windows Installer, Microsoft removed from Microsoft download servers because it seems sometimes deleted more than he was supposed to (I believe this was linked to Office uninstall).  You can still get Windows Installer Cleanup here--> http://majorgeeks.com/Windows_Installer_CleanUp_Utility_d4459.html utility

  • Get the error message on Windows XP dwshk36.ocx

I get error message dwshk36.ocx.   Help!

    Clarah salvation,

    1. When you get this error message?

2 - does this happen when you try to open any specific program?

    Method 1:

    Step 1:

You can try to boot in safe mode with network and see if you are able to access files and folders.

You can check the following link to start in safe mode with networking

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/315222

    Step 2:

You try to perform a clean boot. A clean boot to check if startup item or services to third-party application is causing this issue.

You can read the following article to put the computer in a clean boot:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

If your problem is resolved after the clean boot, and then follow the steps mentioned in the article above to refine the exact source.

After you have used the boot is a way to solve your problem, you can follow the steps to configure Windows XP to start normally.

    Method 2:

You can also check the following link and complete the scan line on your computer to check whether your computer is infected with a virus or not.
