Windows Installer continues to appear repeatedly, trying to install Win Media Gallery. When I accept it tells me it cannot locate a msi file - defeats what it started - only for the popup to come back. I took the drive using the disable windows in the control panel features, but that doesn't stop her.
My OS is Windows 7HE - which is bang up to date.I tried virus checkers etc, but the installer appears everytime I open one of any number of programs. The onl; are there common thing is always wanting to install windows media gallery - which I do not think that I have ever used!Help, pleaseWith regard to fixing or uninstallation of what would be your call.
Windows live essentials 2011 includes, direct mail / live photo gallery / live movie maker and a few other features that I don't remember.
Everything I personally is manufacturer of Gallery and photo film installed.
If you can activate the program and then do a selective activation like me and never use it :)

Error message: Windows Installer could not be accessed.
A maintenance program that I run called System Mechanic deleted my Windows Installer and I think messed up its registry. Everytime I try to reinstall the installer, I get an error that reads, "this update is not for your version of windows." I tried all the available downloads. Nothing works and I'm afraid that a full system restore is my only option. Furthermore, none of my restore points of work to solve the problem. Is there something that can be done?

System Mechanic is your troublemaker here and you're not alone! See these recent discussions:
Contact System Mechanic (iolo.com) support if necessary.
TIP: If you still think again your registry database must be cleaned, repaired, amplified, to the point, healed, twisted, fixed, enlarged, "swept" or optimized (it isn't), read http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?t=28099 and draw your own conclusions. Troubleshoot Windows install
2438651 how to solve problems that may occur when you install, uninstall, or upgrade a program on a Windows computer
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2438651
Substitute:
Unregister Windows Installer and then reregister Windows Installer. To do this, follow these steps:
1. in the menu 'Start', click on ' execute:.»
2. in the "Open" box, type "msiexec /unreg", and then press ENTER.
3. in the menu 'Start', click 'run '.
4. in the "Open" box, type "msiexec/regserver", and then press ENTER.
If this is insufficient, the I would say to install the Windows Installer Cleanup utility and run that to remove the Java remains Setup files that can cause problems with your current installation.

Hey Gary
You could try to clean boot your device, to see if a service is the cause if it is, the error must occur is no longer after it is initialized to clean. A guide to clean the boot can be found here
I also read some people removed some tweaker pc utilities pc or pc performance enhancing software to their computer and that seems to work as well.
I would like to now if the error persists after a clean boot

I bought a set of CS4 disks a few years back and have recently bought a new computer. When you try to install CS4 on the new computer, I received an error message saying "the Installer database is corrupt. Please contact Adobe customer support. "Called 'customer service' and after a VERY long period and three transfers, I was told" both worse, we cannot help you. " Maybe download a new copy? "So I did. When you try to install the new download, I got the exact same error message: "Installer database is corrupt. Please contact Adobe customer support. "This seems to be a conflict between the database install CS4 and 8.1 Win. Is this a known issue? How can I fix it? Thanks for any help. ~ Evey
