  I have now uninstalled Flash, which was a beta version because the latest 'stable' done FF crash when viewing Google Docs.
  I then installed the latest recommended Flash in the usual way, and this, combined with the upgrade to version 11 FF seems to have solved both problems.

  An update of Flash Player version was released two days ago: 14.0.0.145.

  However, I don't know how to identify false update notifications.

  I have a year old MacBook Pro TechTracker and CNET said that there is a new Flash update.  The last time I tried updating Flash, which was my first time, I messed up my MacBook Pro.  I got help and realized there are very detailed instructions to remove the latest version and install the latest version for Mac.  Don't know why, those who don't come not with the download but TechTracker downloaded Update Flash but I'm super nervous to do anything whatsoever because of the problems I experienced last time.  I don't remember what I did and if I did if I followed the same instructions to each update.

  Anyone willing to help me with the procedure to update to the latest version of Flash?  Should I wait to update or what people who know what they're doing do when released a new update.

  I have 3 downloads now because every time I turn on my mac downloads TechTracker power on and off a new updated Flash.

  Hi Kooler1, no I did not upgrade updated Flash Player to the latest version yet. Yes, I follow my software updated, but I would like to wait to make sure that no problem.

  It will work fine. There is no reason to worry too much. Some Web sites take time to update also on their end.

  On the test site, I couldn't remember which version of Flash Player, updated you to the last hour. I had thot it was 10.1.85.3 but there must have been 10.1.102.64, so no problem there. Glad that you do not have the 10.1.85.3.

  It is not good to present an update with addons like Chrome and McAfee to install negative directly run from the site.  Download the file after unchecking the box that I don't want mcafee mess up my computer you can install the update without the garbage.  I want either chrome...  Of course, I used it in the past but I don't want to now.  It's almost impossible to use the web these days without flash enabled unless you are a people and don't understand anyway.   Try to graft these unwanted software on top a Flash update isn't cool!  Its bad enough 3rd party downloads come with things like that but whats next a few adware?    Please review your strategies update than getting installed stuff is lame that he refuses the favors at all.

  It's friendly Pat that you create installers without it.  The point is that the common unknowing user can be warned of needing an update for flash can create problems for them then that is unaware of the McAfee and Chrome addons, who is not aware of your own installation programs.

  This is not a complaint is a justified grievance.  Updates for most of the software don't come with the need to search around for a clean install.

  If you like to keep McAfee to use it.  Perhaps you have never had the experience of using an Acer One netbook provided with McAfee preinstalled on it and the 'fun' it creates.

  Answer to my own post:

  Out of all the solutions posted about Java install problems, I was able to glean one thing: a re-installation of Java and a reinstall of Firefox may well resolve the issue.

  Well, for me, so far, he has.

  The simple steps I followed:

  1. Create Restore Point (Control Panel, search for "Create a Restore Point")
  2 uninstall my version of Java (Panel, "Uninstall a program")
  3 reset
  4. Download Firefox latest version (for me, was the 19.0.2, version in my downloads folder)
  5. download AND install the latest Java (now version 7, updated 17 @java.com)
  6 reboot
  7 install the latest Firefox ("Firefox Setup 19.0.2" application-double-click in my downloads folder)
  8A started Firefox (NOTE: my current extensions and plugins are not affected) and went to my favorite site that requires Java.
  9 THANK GOD, it worked! (NOTE: he did ask me if I wanted to RUN THIS APPLICATION)
