Essbase migration OS compatibility

Hi team,
Can you please confirm if there are problems with essbase migration from hp - ux to RHEL6. Can migrate data from L0 and contour / other artifacts from source to destination. There will be compatibility problems?

Essbase 7.1.0 running 64-bit HP unix-> EPM 11.1.2.2 under RHEL 6 64-bit.

Thanks for your time.

Hari.

You should be able to migrate the otl and other objects and export/import data, it might be interesting to try to use the EAS migration wizard if he can access two servers to essbase.

See you soon

    Hi gurus,
    I want to migrate essbase applications 9 1 3 to 11 1 2 2
I know that one of the way is to use the migration wizard to copy databases and data export and import
    I was wondering if someone had made copy of App 9 1 3 to 11 1 2 2
I tried to do this, but I get an error saying: failed to load the database
    Help, please

    Thank you
    Praveen.

It is not recommended to copy the app folder, if you are migrating/uprading then it is better to stick to one method of support.

  • Essbase Excel add compatibility

    Hello
is the complement of Exel for Essbase in Version 11 compatible with Office 2010?
We are the Office deployment this year but are currently only using the essbase 7 Add in version

you roll on a beta version of the software? Office 2010 is not GA yet. If you look at the matrix of support for products, I'm sure, that we won't get the snap-snap-V7 is even compatible with Excel 2007, but many people have successfully deployed.

  • Migration of storage with RDM

I images migration towards a new framework for storage. Things work really well, but I hit came across a few images which have been implemented several there are many moons with RDM. The kicker is that they are in physical compatibility mode, so I can't just migrate and convert them to a vmdk. Any thoughts on an approach to migrate? Only the approach that comes to mind is to use VMconverter. This would require a little time to stop, so I'll have to postpone this possibility. I have a lot more flexibility on when I can migrate images if I could use the motion of storage because it requires downtime for images. At least there are only a small number who fall into this category but are images that are among the largest disc attached to like 500G - 1 TB...

    Buck

Buck - I realize this post is old, but I came across it and thought I would fill you in on how to migrate LUNS RDM in physical compatibility mode.  I read so many messages saying it's impossible, but it's actually much easier than you think, but the virtual machine must be turned off.  Here's how:

    (1) log into the ESX console as root

    2) go to your virtual machine folder: / vmfs/volumes/vmfs-volume-freindlyname/vm-folder.

    (3) locate the pointer to your disk file, this isn't the file - vocation, it's the servername_1.vmdk, it's only a few KBs, inside he does nothing but point to the real disk file, which in this case will be servername_1 - rdmp.vmdk.  It is the file servername_1 - rdmp.vmdk maps of the e/s to the real lun which is still represented by ESX as something like vml.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx and can be found in/vmfs/devices/drives.

The source that you want to migrate (with this method, it is in fact a copy which is good, because the source is always left intact) can be a virtual disk, virtual rdm or physical rrdm, it is not «question, you will always use servername_x.vmdk as source file in the command string, you're about to see...»

but before I continune, if you want to migrate LUNs compatibility mode physical to a new lun to physical compatibility mode, be sure to have configured the lun so that ESX can see.  If you convert virtual RDM of RDM physical mode, the same applies.  If you convert it to a virtual drive, just be sure to have a volume of vmfs with enough space to accommodate the new drive.

    (4) it is here:

To migrate and convert physical RDM in virtual disk:

    vmkfstools-i servername_1.vmdk/vmfs/volumes/vm record/name of the server - newdisk_1.vmdk

To migrate and convert physica RDM virtual RDM, there are two methods

-in vi edit customer of VM VM settings, remove the drive mapped to vocation, off voltage then re - add a new hard drive by selecting the same disk make sure you only select virtual fashion, connect you and see all your data and mount points are the same.

-from the ESX prompt in the folder of the virtual machine on the VMFS volume:

    vmkfstools-i servername_1.vmdk d rdm:/vmfs/devices/disks/vml.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/vmfs/volumes/vm record/servername_1 - rdm.vmdk

To migrate a new physical RDM physica RDM:

    vmkfstools-i servername_1.vmdk d rdmp:/vmfs/devices/disks/vml.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/vmfs/volumes/vm record/servername_1 - rdmp.vmdk

    EXPLAINED command strings:

    vmkfstools-i is import-command clone

the servername_x.vmdk is the source, the x will be held for the command of the unit, in my example I use this 1 which means that it is the second disc on the virtual computer.  the first disc file is servername.vmdk, it is generally always the system disk.

the-d is the disc type for the destination you are converting to

the rdm (p) is part of the type of drive saying the destination disk is gross, virtual or physical disk mode (the p stands for physics course)

folder/servername_1 - rdm.vmdk/vmfs/volumes/vm tells us where to store the raw disk mapping file, I chose to put it in the folder of the virtual machine as you can see, you can put it on any vmfs filesystem, I like to keep things neat and clean.

Hope you find this useful, don't let anyone tell you that you cannot migrate a physical RDM.  His false information.  This is how its done.

  • How to load data after Migration?

    Hi all

I've finished in cubes essbase migration from one environment to another using the EAS migration wizard, however I understad it's only brings the application and databases and data. How to load data?

    Thank you.

Fix. Section Administrator's Guide of the database on migration: "you can reload is to export the data to a text file, upload the file of text on the new server and then use the text file to load the data.

If you use EAS to do this, see the sections of the user guide on the export of data (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/eas_help/exportdb.html) and loading data (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/eas_help/loading.html). Note that for an export created in this way, you do not need a rules file.

You can also use MaxL (data export / import data commands).

  • Backward compatibility - migrating the members of 11.1.2.4 to 11.1.2.3 contour?

Good snow shoveling day everyone!  I hope that you have found the right higher training!

Our production ASO cube lies in 11.1.2.3
Our test ASO cube lies in 11.1.2.4
We want to migrate members in the outline of the ASO cube production ASO test.

There is backward compatibility of the migration of members of the contour (migration of members of 11.1.2.4 to 11.1.2.3 contour)?
In other words, we can migrate 11.1.2.4 describe 11.1.2.3 members? Is it a 'backward' migration utility that would allow us to migrate 11.1.2.4 a glimpse back at 11.1.2.3?

Psalm, we know that when we move 11.1.2.3 State to 11.1.2.4, 11.1.2.4 ASO would we require to migrate 11.1.2.3 briefly 11.1.2.4 front.

We have the planning and LCM, but tech support said 11.1.2.4 LCM is not compatible with 11.1.2.3 (aka there are a few bugs).

Otherwise I guess we can use the contour of the OLAP Underground to migrate Extractor.

    Thank you.

    No alcoholic Cheers!

If it is before 11.1.2.3.500, then there will be such issues as pointed out 'Essbase Administration Services (EAS) outline 11.1.2.3.500 to 11.1.2.3.000 empty file Migration Wizard creates (Doc ID 1927334.1).

Migration of a glimpse through earlier versions is certainly risky and you're only going to be clear if it is rebuilt.

  • How to migrate users/roles/Essbase with Essbase 11.1.2.2 11.1.1.3 filters?

    Hello

Essbase: Security Mode native Essbase 11.1.2.2 and Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bit

I have about 30 Cubes, 40 + roles and 300 + users in Essbase 11.1.1.3 to migrate Mode native Essbase 11.1.2.2.  Magician breaks.  If not, how can I bring these security? I'm fine with the cubes.   Please H.E.L.P..

LCM expected to do, although there are one or two here on people with special difficulties with 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.2 (by the way, looking for space and EMP Infrastructure one would likely throw up lots of useful information - not to mention Google to search Network54 etc.), and filter assignment seems to be a common problem.

Filter assignments to users/groups in Shared Services

There is also the path of migration of security more manual MaxL described (for example) here: Security Export and copy?

Finally, Celvin Kattookaran wrote a tool called NUMSYS: http://www.orahyplabs.com/2015/01/numsys-30-native-user-management-system.html

  • Migrate the EMP planning 11.1.2.2 Essbase AIX for Linux

    Hello

I have a deployed EPM Planning 11.1.2.2 environment on Windows, with the exception of Essbase, which runs on AIX.  I would like to migrate to Linux Essbase.

Is it possible (except set up a new EPM and LCM/import environment)?  I have difficulties to find information about it.

I hope I can do something like:

1.) install the new Essbase server on linux and configure shared services

(2.) the source change to point to the new essbase Server planning data

    3.) deploy application planning

4.) import data to new Essbase

5.) set up the old Essbase

If anyone has the resources or advice they can direct me to, it would be very appreciated.

    Thank you!

  • Migrate an application Hyperion 11.1.1.3 EPMA planning and Essbase 11.1.2.2

    Hi all

We have applications EPMA planning and Essbase in environment Hyperion 11.1.1.3 with all artifacts as Scripts, etc. reports for the file, business rules, rules.

Now, we want to migrate these applications to the new installed 11.1.2.2 environment.

Using LCM or don't we have another method to migrate these applications?

    answers would be appreciated.

  • Migration of Essbase (from backup)

    Gurus,
In the environment that I work, backup us Essbase daily. We have script to backup all artifacts, such as essbase.sec, essbase.bak, essbase.cfg, .otl, .csc, .rep, .rul, etc..
We have several Essbase cubes and that we are supposed to recreate the cubes of same in another server. We do not have cubes in the new server, so we need to have the cubes of the same as we have now in our production environment. How could we do this task? You can get by LCM, but I would like to know if there are other options such as the copy, etc..
All the files that we are under \\server\d$\Hyperion\Essbase. Thus it is possible, we can copy the file integer essbase and paste it into the target server?
OR do we do something else?
    Guidance is much appreciated.
    Thank you

It is probably useful to go through the Oracle for example on the migration of an application from planning using LCM, it is based on an earlier version of 11 but the concept is the same and it will give you a good idea - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/performance-management/tutorials/pln-lcm-obe-095602.html

  • Migration of Essbase

    Hi team,
I do only essbase verion migration 7.1 to 11.1.2.2. Everything I need is Essbase and EAS in improved version.

    (1) do I need of shared services in the new version? If so, is that what I need Oracle DB because security shared service is stored in the DB?
    (2) do I need to service provider installed?

    Thanks for your time.

    Thank you
    Hari.

I would just point out what the documentation says that it is not always a good idea to go through all these versions just to get 11.1.2.2
Depending on what products you do the migration and the complexity of the environment, there are other options available, if it is only essbase I don't see the need to go through all of these upgrades of version.

  • MIgration of EIS to Essbase Studio

    Hello

We have two planning applications A and B location of loading of aggregate data.
In the study of environmental impact, we have 2 catalogs metadata with a few fact tables where the detailed data is loaded.

Currently, EIS is used only for drill holes in the reports using Essbase Addin.

We are planning the migration to Essbase Studio.

I have a question about this:

-Using the wizard, the catalogues will be migrated, but what about to drill holes in the reports, they are also migrated?

    Thank you!

you might want to watch the Studio specificially extraction of the http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/est_user/ch20s04s01.html guide it tells you about the migration
And yes the cubes must be deployed Studio for the flange through the work. you could update from planning and then redeploy Studio to create connections

  • Migrate security of Essbase 7.1.5 to 11.1.2.1

I'm looking to migrate security for Essbase version 7 application x to 11.1.2.1.
Someone can tell me what would be the best way to export users, filters etc. of the version 7 x to 11.1.2.1

We are not upgraded to 9.3.3 or such 11.1.1.3 as recommended by Oracle. We build just in the newer version. However, I still want to use the existing security in version 7 x.

    Thanks in advance.

You must use the value of column_width ; before using the display filter syntax. It sets the width of the columns that appear in the tables display outputs, for this session MaxL Shell MaxL.
