Essbase rule files

Hi all

Can I load a data file that is missing 3 dimensions in essbase.

If so, how?

-Sunny

Well, every piece of data must be loaded at the intersection of a member of each dimension, so you have to say which Member of each of these dimensions to load the data in a certain wayto Essbase.

Assuming that the file can not be changed, most likely you can use the load 'header' rule to specify a single of each of these three dimensions member (even if it's just a model "No_Dim1", "No_Dim2" type member).

Sometimes (I don't know your data or application) the business logic is such that the Member may be derived from the name of members in other dimensions, handled in the State of charge.  I do not load rule ETL.

Just to add I know you use ODI and you can be implemented a rule of charging for it, if you manually enter the details of the column without loading a file or using SQL when you design it, it does not matter on the extra at the end of the column names columns as they will be ignored.

  • Ask about the load of metadata in Essbase using the rules file

    Hello

In our application, we load the metadata using the Essbase rules file and here, we are faced with a problem. Suppose we have load a member of level 0, called "xxxx" under two different parent, assume parents are Parent_AAAA and Parent_BBBB. But our demand is the operator of consolidation for the first occurrence (i.e. under the Parent_AAAA) is '+' and for the Member shared under Parent_BBBB is ' - '. But, when we are load using rule file the operator of consolidation for the Member always shared loading as ' + '. Y at - it a trick to change the operator of consolidation for other than manually changing outline shared member?

    Pls help... Thanks in advance.

I don't think that there is a way to change the default setting.

However, what you can do is to have a different charge and rule file different text with only the metadata that you want to have an exception for shared members. In this way, you can get that you don't have to change existing rules file.

  • Essbase error when you try to change the dimension through the rule files

    Hi Knowledgebank.

I'm new to Essbase. I'm trying to change my dimension through the rule files and Iam getting error (Dimension build setings).

    Example:

    My current dimensiion is:

    MARKET TOTAL
    ASIA
    Singapore
    CHINA
    HONG KONG
    NORTH AMERICA
    SOUTH AMERICA

I am trying to add a few new countries of SOUTH AMERICA and I can't. Is there a step by step guide to achieve this?
I'm following the documentationi but still errors.

Help on this is going to help me go further.

Note:-I am able to load the data successfully.
'TOTAL MARKET' 'COUNTRY'--> header I have jump while loading
    'SOUTH AMERICA' 'BRAZIL '.
    'SOUTH AMERICA' 'ARGENTINA '.

As above, your first file is correct if you use generation referance.
Your mapping in the rules file should be like this.
Gen2, Gen3 TOTAL MARKET, MARKET TOTAL
    'SOUTH AMERICA' 'BRAZIL '.
    'SOUTH AMERICA' 'ARGENTINA '.

For generation Referance always starts on Gen2.
Gen1 sets the level of the dimension. If the dimension is not there, you must set in the definition of dimension not in Field1.

    Hi all

I need to load the flat file DATA (no metadata) or an Oracle table in to ESSBASE using ODI.

Where can I find an example or a tutorial on the loading procedure.
I have not have how to use ODI with a rules file:

    (1) in the standard rule file I can insert a transformation (join, split ecc.) can be used
a rule like this in ODI file?

    (2) if I put the file of IKM SQL for Hyperion Essbase (DATA) rules I have to manually set the mapping
between the source and target? the mapping is not set in the rule file?

    (3) can I use both the type of rules (flat file or SQL) file?

If you go to the next page in my blog, you should see a link to all the different posts around ODI and hyperion knowledge modules - http://john-goodwin.blogspot.com/2011/08/odi-series-summary.html

In ODI, you can do all the transformations, the rule of the load is really used to optimize the process of loading the data.
You must configure your interface with source and target mapping, and then create a rule to load that corresponds to the mapping of the target.
You can use any type of source.

  • Load data into Essbase using the rules file

    Hello

IAM trying to create a rule to load for the fresh Essbase cube associated with the Hyperion Planning Application. We having 14 Dimensions (including the HSP_Rates Dimension).

The falt file used to generate the rule file has columns related to the 13 dimensions as well as the data as the 14th column column. When I validate the rules file, he said "the rules file is correct for the loading of the data.

My concern here is iam not taking care of Member Dimnesion related to the Dimension of "HSP_Rates" (not even as the Difinition of the header). I'm doing something wrong here? How validation can MOVE independently without taking into account one dimension?

If I insert the data, while recovering the data in Excel which dimension member HSP_Rates should I use?

    Any response is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you
    RNG

    Hello

You should charge against 'HSP_InputValue' in the HSP_Rates dimension, i.e. where the input values must be loaded.

  • How to get the substring of the field in the rules file

    Hello

I use the Hyperion Essbase 11.1.2.3 version and try to build the size of the area. I have the Code area and description of the region in the source file. But the Description of the region is preceded with another character. Example - "AXX - Asia", "NXX - Netherland" and etc. I don't want to exclude "AXX -", "NXX" - during the generation of dimension. Please could you let me know how to remove these characters through rule files. I want to just generate rule with region Code file and description of the region without these extra characters.

    Source file:

    Region code | Region / / Desc

    AP | AXX - Asia

    NL | NXX - Netherland

    Build of contour should be:

    -AP (Alias: Asia)

    -NL (Alias: Netherland)

    Thank you

    Michel K

Deker suggestion (using find and replace) is useful if you have a list of possible prefixes and that you are happy to have to update the rules file every time that this list is growing. I'm not a fan of this, personally.

If the prefix length is always three characters then you must separate the first six characters of the code (the three characters and then space, hyphen, space). This creates two fields of the original; you ignore the first one and then use the second as an alias.

  • Field rule file date

    Hello everyone,

Therefore the week with me to have problems of rule files.  I am loading a rule file that contains a date field in it as seen below:

    rule.JPG

I made changes to my plan to allow typical steps and changed the date format as shown below:

    outline.JPG

If I try to load this rule and ignore the field 'entry date' my file works fine.  Whenever I'm trying to load the rule with the active field it will not load anything and I get the message following (warning) with no error log:

    LoanASO.Loans of corrupted database

Out of the prepared columns: [0]

Rule reading information SQL for the database [credits]

Rule of reading of the purpose of the database rule [credits]

Out of the prepared columns: [0]

Load data buffer commit elapsed: [0.016] seconds

    Completed import data ['LoanASO'.'] Loans]

Out of the prepared columns: [0]

    Someone at - it ideas?

A test, I manually load a date via smartview in my intersection and the exportation of essbase looked like the following:

    "Loan Principal GL'"effective Date. "

    "Dec', 'FY14' '098' 'L1' 'Act'"RR5' 'Active' "GL-4002" "Type-14" "1e2" 340849.45 "#Txt:12/31/2014" "" "" "

I see that when I export it comes in a different format "#txt:12/31/2014" so I didn't know if I need to load different data.

Also, I want to just take a big thank you to all those who respond to these positions.  I find this invaluable community and I hope it will be able to contribute more I become more proficient in Essbase and planning.

    Thank you

    Bret

Well, I finally got it and I think I learned my lesson here.  What was causing it was in the order of my articles.  One of my size was before my data so there get confused.  I need to be more careful of the order of my rules files I guess.

Thanks for all your replies again,.

  • Construction of dimension rules file

    Hello everyone,

I have problems with a rules file, that I built with the alias of an attribute does not.  I get the error \\Column 13 ignored; No member corresponding (3326).  Here's a screenshot of my rules file:

    Rules.JPG

    Column 1 - account

    Column 3 - Account Alias

    Column 8 - Type Code

Column 11 - Code of call report

Column 12 - agent Code (attribute) - related to the account (column 1)

Column 13 - Code name of agent (aka "Agent Code")

Here are the 13 column field properties:

    Field Properties.JPG

I'm still pretty new to these construction, so any suggestions are appreciated.

    Thank you

    Bret

You specify the attribute to tag and that works. But you are not explicitly saying that the Alias attribute must be labelled

I think that's maybe the reason why this does not work

If you add another column to column 13, which will be the attribute and your Alias column would be column14

  • How to create a hierarchy that is shared using the rules file.

Hello - I am trying to create a shared in Essbase hierarchy that looks similar to the following

    -Member 1

    Member 2

    Member 3

    Member 4

    Member 5

    Member 6

    -Member 3

Basically trying to shoot the 3 members 1 member hierarchy and show it separately.

What my rule file should look like this situation.

    Grateful for the help.

    Thank you.

Well, you can do that, as you describe because your member 3 would be a shared member and shared members cannot have children.

    you could do something like

    Member 3A

    Member 4

    Member 5

    Member 6

Of course if you really want to watch a member 3 with his children, I don't understand why you need a shared hierarchy you can get the update rollup member 3 in the hierarchy of the primary

  • ODI vs rule file load

    Hi all

I would like to know the difference between the loading data to essbase directly using files of rules from a flat file or an RDBMS and load using ODI.
And using rule files in interface ODI to load the data, what kind of performance and efficiency can be achieved with it.

    Thank you

The choice is really yours, I'm not sure you how many performance advantage you would see ODI not use with a rule of load, sometimes it is just better to test and see.

  • Construction of dimension with a rules file for Hyperion Planning

    Hello Experts!

I'm on version 11.1.1.3. I created a classic with 3 Hyperion Planning application plan types, and in EA I have successfully downloaded the same members of dimension entity with the same rules file in each of the 3 contours under my application from HP. Then I've also updated database in the Planning, but I don't see any new dimension member in HP. - could someone help me with what is wrong? Hyperion Planning of work with files of rules for dimension is not build? Thanks in advance!

No planning does not work with the rule files, you must load dimensions information directly in the planning, and then push it to essbase.

  • Add alias with rules file

I have existing members and I would like to add an alias to the members. Two columns in the data file, the Customer_ID and the client_name.

Customer_id already exists in Essbase, I want to add as an alias client_name.

I built a rules file to use this data but get an error on the saying of validation:

Field 2 - this member is marked as an alias, but there is no associate member field that precedes.

I have referred to field 1 as Member ID.

    What I am doing wrong?

This could mean that you do not associate the same size as the alias

    for example
    Gen2, customer | Alias2, product

    or incorrect associated generations/levels

    for example
    Gen2, product | Alias3, product
