Estimate of the size of archives (archive)

Hello
I want to export an archive from the applet archive with a specific query.
I would estimate the size of archive final before running it (I want to avoid risk to reach the limit of disk space).
You know a way to estimate the volume of files intended for export? (DB queries, tools?)
Thanks in advance,
Leo

A good question, but no easy answer.

A collection of archive may have a query to export, you could take this query, improve it with dFileSize (according to the table of Documents ) and get a report of the size of back content items. Then, you will need to add a few extra bytes for metadata. Finally, you need estimate how zip compresses the exported data.

In addition, for really important exports, not only space, but also time can be a concern. And here, a unique experience can tell you what is best.

  • IF database-> RAC database: estimate of the size of the SGA for each instance

    Hello!

    Let's say that there is a single instance with SGA 100 G size DB (assume this size is optimal for this database).

    If this database is intended to be converted to a RAC database with 2 instances (suppose DB workload will be spread over multiple instances).

    How to estimate the needs of SGA size for each instance in the RAC database?

    It takes 50G + General cool CARS (say 15%) for each instance?

    (Do not consider situation when one of the instances has failed, and all the charge redirects to an instance having survived)

    I'd be grateful if someone has offered or provided useful references.

    Kind regards

    As a general rule, I would size the SGA on new nodes to 120% of the SGA to single instance. Yes, this means that you will more than double the size of the SGA. You will need additional space to hold the load memory Cache Fusion. And the buffer Cache are possibly a little more space to store additional versions of blocks that seem to accompany the many implementations of CARS. Now, it's just a rule of thumb, so it has a high degree to be very wrong.

    You'll want to consider two big things... (1) the service being used. Will you take advantage of the services to perform the partitioning application? If so, instances can see various workloads that can lead to requests for different resources. (2) you will support a kind of failover (TAF or manual failover) applications? If so, then the LMS must be sufficiently sized to support the additional workload.

  • Estimate of the size of the dump file with the export query parameter

    Hi all

    I would like to ask questions about EXPORT utiliy. Can I estimate the size of the dump for export with the parameter file "application"? You can find my syntax exp on below?

    exp scwq/sCwq201 parfile = scw.par

    contents of the scw.par file.

    FILE ='/ u01/EXPDUMP/SCW. DMP ".
    TABLES IS MIMO. WFTRA
    JOURNAL ='/ u01/EXPDUMP/SCW. JOURNAL"
    CONSTRAINTS = NO.
    STATISTICS = NONE
    QUERY = "WHERE (Eurie > 8132560 AND IN (SELECT FROM mimo.objectcfg WHERE oname sobject = 'TICKET')) OR (Eurie > 188872 AND IN (SELECT FROM mimo.objectcfg WHERE objectname sobject = 'WORDER')) '"

    In fact, I know that without query to export file parameter. But I could not find a solution to my question...

    Hello
    From what I've seen when you do 'query =' is not taken into account at all when estimating the size of the dumpfile no matter if you use blocks or statistics methods. All I can suggest you do is get the estimated size and then work manually on what percentage of lines you will be back and then just do a simple calculation.

  • vMA and Syslog - estimates of the size

    I am currently working for a client with two large data centers; North and South. I need to send the ESXi host logs for a vMA in each data center and I need to know how much space available on the drive of the newspaper on every vMA.

    There are currently 14 guests in the center of the North and 16 in the South, but that could increase to a maximum of 8 per region. So the totals could get up to 22 Nothern, 24 South.

    I intend I do default logging type.

    There is probably a calculator of calibration somewhere but I have yet to find one. Any help would be appreciated.

    See you soon,.

    An ESXi host, you can capture messages, hostd.log and vpxa.log.

    When you configure log capture you can configure maxfilesize (by default 5 MB) and numrotation (by default 5 files).  If you seek to 75 MB for each host.   For vCenter capture you vpxd.log so it will be 25 MB.

    As mentioned, it is a pretty easy thing to expand the storage space used by the vMA.

    It does not matter to 6 shots.

    See: http://www.learn.usa.canon.com/resources/articles/2012/eos_understanding_burst_rates.htmlp

    The conservative estimate of the size of the buffer (in RAW mode) is that the buffer will hold about 13 shots until the camera is to wait for the data to be written in order to clear enough space for another buffer.   I actually tested it with my 5 d III and have found that, in practice, the number is somewhat higher - having about 18 shots before he slowed because of the limitations of the buffer.

  • Size of the huge log archive

    I have 5 redo log files. Each is 4 GB. There are huge transactions (1800-2000 per second). So we have every hour 5-6 journal of the switches. So all the hours of archives journal 20 to 24 GB and daily increase in size, the size 480 GB.

    I had planned to take an incremental backup of level 1 and level 0 per week daily with the option delete log archiving 'sysdate-1 '.

    But we have little storage if, it is impossible to the sphere 480 GB per day and take backup of these 480 GB for 7 days (480 * 7) GB = 4 TB. How can I correct this situation? Help, please.

    3 you can use Log Miner to check what is happening.

    You need to this address with application developers and/or clients and/or buy the disc.

  • Size of the log file Archive

    Redlogfile size is 16 MB and generating the archivelog file size is approximately 10 Mb. what could be the reason?

    Oracle Version: 10.2.0.4

    OS: Windows

    First of all:

    a redo log contains a lot of things necessary for instance etc. recovery an archived log is used only for the restorations - he didn't need all the stuff that is in a redo log, so when written CRA the archiving log that he does not write all knowledge, all that is required for restores

    Second:

    Archive logs is created with dimensions smaller, irregular, as the original redo logs. Why? [388627.1 ID]

    Goal
    Archive logs is created with dimensions smaller, irregular, as the original redo logs.
    Commands like:
    ALTER SYSTEM SWITCH LOGFILE
    or
    ALTER SYSTEM ARCHIVE LOG...
    are not used to generate archives or change the log file. Thus, there is no parameter ARCHIVE_LAG_TARGET set.
    What else could cause this behaviour?
    Solution
    From:
    Bug: 5450861: NEWSPAPERS ARCHIVE IS GENERATED with one SIZE SMALLER THAN THE REDO LOG FILES
    the explanation of this situation has 2 main reasons:
    1 archiving logs do not have to be in the same size. This was decided very long ago, when blank padding archiving logs stopped for a very good reason - in order to save disk space.

    2. the log command does not exist when a redo log file is 100% full. There is an internal algorithm that determines when to switch journal. It also has a very good reason - do the command of newspaper at the last moment may incur performance problems (for various reasons, outside the scope of this note).
    So, after that newspaper ordering occurs the archivers are only copying the information from the redo log files. As recovery logs are not 100% full after the command to log and archive logs are empty not filled after the copy operation is complete, this results in unequal files smaller than the original of redo log files.
    This is very apparent for very low (less than 10 MB) log files; as a result, produced 2.5 MB archive logs of 5 MB recovery logs are very visible.
    Just note that currently, the default log files are 100 MB in size. If the archives log files would be between 98 and 100 MB person would notice.
    The main concern that one must have for newspapers of archives files is a possible corruption. This can be easily verified by attempting a resumption of testing. When it's ok, the size of the log archive uneven should be of no interest, as is expected.

  • Repeat the process of archiving for MAX PERFORMANCE in 11g

    Hello Evertyone,

    Redo the archiving process: LGWR and ARCH (MAX PERFORMANCE)

    Network Transmission mode: SYNC If you are using ARCH process

    Oracle Data Guard 11 GR 2 Administration Guide beginner by Emre Baransel

    -I see this summary: transport ARCH is not recommended because it offers no advantage.

    What advantage LGWR provides rather than the ARK in MODE PERFORMANCE MAX?

    In which clearly defined doc information?

    Hello

    1. the Oracle 10 g documentation link you have provided that it be said that (it would be even other oracle docs)

    Allows maximum performance mode you either set the LGWR and ASYNC attributes or set the ARCH attribute on the LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_ n parameter for the standby database.

    2.i hope you know the difference between the role of process LGWR and ARCH from the perspective of the database

    3 by default, redo transport services use some ARCn process to archive log files to redo online on the primary database. Archiving ARCn processing supports only the protection of the level of maximum data performance in Data Guard configurations

    Check-in occurs when a log switch occurs on the primary database:

    • On the primary database, after the ARC0 process archives successfully redo online newspaper the local destination ( LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_1 ), the ARC1 process transmits redo leave log files local archived redo (rather than the online redo logs files) to the remote standby destination ( LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_2 ).

    By coming to the LGWR

    You can possibly afford to restore transport services using process LGWR for transmitting data to roll forward to distant destinations.

    Using the LGWR process differs from the ARCn processing (described on the point 5.3.1), because rather than wait for online redo log to the primary database and then written archived all again to connect to the destination remote all at once, the process LGWR selects a log file waiting for Redo on the standby site that reflects the sequence of journal number (and size) of the current log file recovery online primary database.

    Then, again being generated at the primary database, it is also transmitted to the remote destination. Transmission to the remote destination will be either synchronous or asynchronous, depending on whether the SYNC or the ASYNC attribute is set on the LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_ n parameter. Synchronous LGWR treatment is necessary for maximum protection and maximum availability of data protection patterns in Data Guard configurations

    4. it is not on the recommendation, its option to use - its role and how it works with over role, you understand. Oracle never says it's bad or wrong (you decide)

  • Total combined size of archived logs

    DB version: 11.2
    Platform: AIX

    How can I determine the total size of the archive for a particular database logs?

    Search on Google and search OTN did not provide many details

    Don't have not the solution of the following be pass as he deviated from the subject

    Re: size of the journal archive

    The recovery for our database log size is 100 MB.
    SQL> select count(*) from v$archived_log where status = 'A' and name is not null;

      COUNT(*)
    ----------
            22

    So, I can multiply 22 * 100 = 2 200 MB. But there were some manual switches, the size of these files will be less. That's why I'm looking for an accurate way of determining the total size of the archive logs.

    Hello;

    V$ ARCHIVED_LOG contains BLOCKS (the size of the journal archived (in blocks)) and BLOCK_SIZE (which is the same as the size of the logical block of the newspaper online, including the archived log was copied)
    So with a little help in the query, you should be able to get it.

    ARCHIVELOG size every day

    select
      trunc(COMPLETION_TIME) TIME,
      SUM(BLOCKS * BLOCK_SIZE)/1024/1024 SIZE_MB
    from
      V$ARCHIVED_LOG
    group by
    trunc (COMPLETION_TIME) order by 1;

    COMPLETION_TIME is a DATE, you can add ANOTHER to the query to get exactly the total that you want for the desired date range.

    ARCHIVELOG size every hour

    alter session set nls_date_format = 'YYYY-MM-DD HH24';

    select
      trunc(COMPLETION_TIME,'HH24') TIME,
       SUM(BLOCKS * BLOCK_SIZE)/1024/1024 SIZE_MB
    from
      V$ARCHIVED_LOG
    group by
      trunc (COMPLETION_TIME,'HH24') order by 1;

    Another example

    SELECT   To_char(completion_time,'YYYYMMDD')    run_date,
             Round(Sum(blocks * block_size + block_size) / 1024 / 1024 / 1024) redo_blocks
    FROM     v$archived_log
    GROUP BY To_char(completion_time,'YYYYMMDD')
    ORDER BY 2
    /
