ESX file/folder secure to exclude backups?

Hi guys.

I am running TSM 5.5 on my esx servers.  Is there a typical list of ' without the risk of excluding the "files or folders out there?  Someone can point out some tips on what can be excluded backups?

I am getting a bunch of warnings in my backups, that this file cannot be saved because it is open or it has changed in the treatment...

Examples:

ANE4037E file ' / var/log/vmware/aam/aam_config_util_listnodes.log' has changed in

the treatment. Ignored files

ANE4037E file ' / var/log/vmware/hostd-6.log' has changed during treatment. File

ANE4037E file ' / etc/opt/vmware/aam/vmware_astrodb/dbm_records51.tlog'

changed during treatment. Ignored files

ANE4037E file ' / etc/opt/vmware/aam/vmware_rikiedb/ft_db51.d09' has changed

during the treatment. Ignored files

ANE4037E file ' / ' changed var/lib/vmware/hostd/stats/hostAgentStats-20.stats

during the treatment. Ignored files

ANE4037E file ' / var/log/vmware/aam/aam_config_util_listnodes.log' has changed in

the treatment. Ignored files

Thank you.

This is the main configuration of ESX.

Another way to do, that it is instead of the backup of these config files you could always create an installation script for ESX, so that if your host is dead he would have just run the install script and it needs to configure your host without having to do a restore.  Although this does not mean now this script every time you make a config change in ESX. So there are advantages/disadvantages for the two solutions

Allows us to save the actual VMS VCB, I assume you are using something for that as well?

  • Cannot remove denial of access to the file/folder

Hi I'm trying to delete a backup set on my external drive Seagate Go. I deleted everything except this folder that is buried within several other records: #secureinclude.ebaystatic. I get this error message: cannot delete #secureinclude.ebaystatic access is denied. Make sure that the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is currently in use. The file in this folder is: settings.sol 1 KB. I tried methods described in other posts as the start in safe mode by clicking Properties/Security/Advanced/owner to support, but that has not worked. Allow the boxes are already checked. I have Windows XP Home Edition and I am the only owner/Director. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Cootrain.

Create and boot from a live cd like Ubuntu. You can then delete the file/folder. You can also format the hard drive. The files/folders that you deal with are only cookies and a browser plugin/add-on and are not necessary.  :-)

  • How to get the alert message while trying to open a file, folder, or drive?

How to provide a warning message when opening a file, folder, or drive, such as I had in my disk recovery and back the file, but once I opened it, that message never came again, I want this parameters with some of my important files. so, how do you restore this setting? and how do you get to my files?

    Hello

Thanks for posting the question in the Microsoft Community forums. According to the description, you need help to get an alert message when you attempt to open a file, folder or drive.

The alert message you received disk and backup recovery file is supplied by the manufacturer.

There is no message alert option in Windows. You can search for any third-party application, using your favorite search engine.

  • Downloaded a zipped file/folder would not, the name is too long.

I have downloaded a compressed file/folder to a trusted site that I always. I unzipped the file (Music mp3) successfully and added to my itunes. When I tried to drag the file of music on my ipod, itunes shows his location could not be found. I went and checked on the folder I unzipped and all these other files with weird characters appears. It took 145 GB of space in my external hardrive (thank goodess). Now, I can't rename or delete the file or the folder itself. I tried a few removal tools but it did not work or when I try to download, my anti-virus software reports me. I need a way to get rid of the file. The budget is tight, so it would help if it's freeware. OR better yet a way to removed without having to download any software. I tried to delete it in safe mod and BACK. Without success. Tried Unlocker and D something software too.

Have you tried Unlocker which would have been my first recommendation.  I don't know other programs (especially turned to the long name) free file deletion. If Unlocker doesn't work, or none will remove utilitly in Vista (because Unlocker is better than Vista).

The commercial product ($19 I think) says that he specifically deletes files whose names are too long. http://www.abtollc.com/Folder-Delete.aspx.  I suspect that this will do the trick, but of course I can't be sure so try there is a risk that it will not solve the problem in spite of spending money on it.

Your problem with the file may be a permissions problem.  Make sure that you have the permissions of all rights and take possession (and maybe both parent folders).  Don't forget to check the Advnaced properties for special permissions that restrict rights or inherit permissions from parent folders - you may need to remove if you already have all the rights on the main screen.  Here are the procedures:

To view your permissions, right-click on the file/folder, click Properties, and check the Security tab.  Check the permissions you have by clicking on your user name (or group of users).  Here are the types of permissions, you may have: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-are-permissions.  You must be an administrator or owner to change the permissions (and sometimes, being an administrator or even an owner is not sufficient - there are ways to block access (even if a smart administrator knows these ways and can move them - but usually should not because they did not have access, usually for a very good reason).)  Here's how to change the permissions of folder under Vista: http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-vista/set-file-folder-permissions-vista/.  To add take and the issuance of right of permissions and ownership in the right click menu (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/05/21/take-and-grant-full-control-permissions-and-ownership-in-windows-7-or-vista-right-click-menu/.

To resolve this problem with folders, appropriating the files or the drive (as an administrator) and give you all the rights.  Right-click on the folder/drive, click Properties, click the Security tab and click on advanced and then click the owner tab.  Click on edit, and then click the name of the person you want to give to the property (you may need to add if it is not there--or maybe yourself). If you want that it applies to subfolders and files in this folder/drive, then check the box to replace the owner of subcontainers and objects, and click OK.  Back and now there is a new owner for files and folders/player who can change the required permissions.  You can change now switched to read-only (even if the main folder indicates that they are always read-only - you can access yourself as the owner).  You can keep them in read-only to other users, customers and administrators even (although they can support themselves and access, if they wish, and it is really not that you can do to stop it except protect the file with a password by using a 3rd party product.)  Here is more information on the ownership of a file or a folder: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67717-take-ownership-file.html.  To add take ownership in the menu of the right click (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/.

I have no other suggestions at this point.  What is the EXACT and the full path of this folder?  Depending on where it is, we are able to create a new user profile (treat your as if it is corrupted) and traansfer all data EXCEPT the folder in the new profile.  Then delete the old provile if he leaves despite this file - it might or it might not (I'm not sure).

To try this http://windows.microsoft.com/en-AU/windows-vista/Fix-a-corrupted-user-profileuse.  If that is the only available Administrator Profile (you need to be an administrator to fix this), enable the Hidden Administrator Account (HAA) using http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?&lang=en&cr=US&guid=&sloc=en-us&dg=microsoft.public.windows.vista.administration_accounts_passwords&p=1&tid=d20f9db4-7b2c-48be-a087-7835dc2a9055&mid=d20f9db4-7b2c-48be-a087-7835dc2a9055.  If you don't remember the password, try nothing because that's probably what you (or seller) did during the installation.  Once that is done, don't forget to disable the HAA to save it in case it is necessary once again and for safety reasons (since people often try to hack into systems using this account).  Do NOT use the HAA as your administrator account because if you lose the only administrator on the system account or it is damaged again, then you're watered.

You can also try to enter in a command prompt: click on start / all programs / accessories / command prompt and right click on command prompt, and then click Run as administrator.  There Cd type a space and then type the path of the fulll name the folder in question (if it even appears).  Once inside the folder type del *. * and see what happens.  It can give you the same error message, or it can remove. Once the content is deleted type cd, and then type del (yes I know it's long) and enter. This can remove the folder.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Cannot change file/folder permissions

I have a two drive system. C:\ for programs, E:\ for data. After a failed win7 - win10 update, I was not is no longer able to use my OS on my C:\ drive. My drive E:\ already had an OS installed win7 so I went to use my E:\ drive as my OS drive (a parameter of the motherboard is the E:\ drive a C:\ drive).

Now I have folders and files with an owner: unknown, unknown + user group group. There are several questions I've seen change permissions: explore-> properties-> Security-> username, and change or advanced.

    • Change the root folder is possible but does not propagate properly. Some files give the message diagnostic «permissions on are incorrectly categorized which can cause some ineffective entries» When this happens the popup Edit does not have a new username and the advanced pupup shows certain permissions with "Traverse folder / e...» ».
    • In the security popup open edition opens another pop-up window without a diagnosis, but the Add button is gray and inaccessible.
    • Change the owner on some records give a diagnosis of ' you are not allowed to read the contents of the Directory..» eml you want to change the permissions of the directory by permissions granting you complete control '. .

There may be several issues. My problem is that I have more than 20,000 files. If I can't spread worldwide owner/permissions, then I have a problem.

How can I clean my folders/files so that I can spread ownership/permissions correctly?

    Hello

With the publication of the description, I understand that you are having problems to change the permissions of the files/folders on your Windows 7 computer. I will certainly help you get this fixed number.

I suggest you refer to the suggestions of jbr549 responded on November 4, 2010 in the below mentioned thread and check whether it is useful or not:

To do: Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. • What is the size of a file folder empty?

I am transferring my digital pictures and ask yourself what is a file folder.  My plan is to have a folder for each month that would be 120 files for 10 years... Alternatively, I could do the seasons - 40 records for 10 years - or even annual, 10 records for 10 years.  Records of files take up a lot of space?  More would be better, but if I want to transfer files to a flash or SD would be space be a problem?

    Thank you!

10 years of pictures saved on one source?

Safer would be to store each year on ten DVDs of quality and also for general access flash drives and use.

I also store all 10 years of a value on a USB hard drive as well. That's my idea of [security] store precious photos. Never to a single source only and not the computer :-)

  • I have that one saved backup system, is there a reason to keep additional files prior to the last backup of system? I can remove them systematically?

I run the Windows Image backup to a hard drive external on a weekly schedule. The result shows on the hard drive as "WindowsImageBackup\(User name)-PC\Backup (date) (number)"-currently about 80 GB (binary).

I reserve about 135 GB of available space for backups of the system, so I save only the last backup of the system.

So far, I have no problem with that.

However, the disk hard, there is another folder '(USER NAME)-PC' & under which is a folder "backup of files (date) (number)" for each time that the backup system runs.

These files vary considerably in size - for example, 1 GB, 12 GB, 22 GB. They delete or replace automatically - just, they accumulate.

What I want to know is ~.

What is the purpose\importance of these additional files?

Since I only have a single saved backup, is there a reason to keep additional files prior to the last backup of system? I can remove them systematically?

    Original title: Windows Image backup

    Hello

    Thanks for the reply.

File '(Computer name)-PC "contains the files necessary for the Windows. Data files saved in libraries, on the desktop, and if the Windows folders for all people with a user account on the computer are also recorded.

[The default Windows folders include AppData, Contacts, desktop, downloads, Favorites, links, saved parties and searches.]

The size of these files increases, because the content of the folders mentioned above increases.

For more information, see the article mentioned below:

  • Windows 7, ask permission to open each & every file/folder

    Hello everyone!

Question: I'm using windows 7 (64-bit), whenever I try to open any file/folder "You are not allowed to open this file/folder" appears. Is it possible to disable these permissions? (Read the explanation below to properly understand my question)

    Explanation:
Problem started a few years back. I did a guest account. Guest account was not allowed to access my "D" drive (read or write). After a while there was a problem and I could not log into the admin account I looked here and there but could not find any solution, so the ultimate solution was re-installing windows. After installing windows, when I open windows Explorer, I was very surprised to see that I don't have permission to drive D (as it has been limited by previous windows admin).
    I followed after path D > properties > Security > continue > edit > add account Admin
I saw a s-1-5-21-456384692-283491759-102987398-1000bin, had a full training & admin (after re-installing windows) did not have access to the drive. I tried to delete this garbage, but it could not be so I've added my account and gives full access to the drive.
    Now, the story begins...
When I gave full access to the admin, it's basically access to enter the D drive only. Inside the D drive no file/folder is available. Now to open any folder I have to repeat this path folder > properties > Security > continue > Edit > add account Admin but does not end, to re-open all the files inside this folder file >Properties > Security > continue > edit > add account Admin.

This problem is really disturbing. There are 20 GB of data in the D drive and I can't repeat this process for each file/folder
    I followed after path D > properties > Security > continue > edit > add account Admin
    I saw a bin s-1-5-21-456384692-283491759-102987398-1000,
-> Is not garbage, but the string to identify an account you deleted at some point. Given that the account doesn't exist anymore, you can remove this reference. You must first enter with the problem file.
Follow these steps to solve your problem in one fell swoop:
1 log in under an administrator account.
    2. click on the start planet.
    3. type cmd.exe in the search box.
    4. press on Ctrl + Shift + Enter
    5. click on "run as Administrator".
    6. type the following commands and press ENTER after each:
    takeown /f D:\/a r d y
    cacls D:\/t/c /G administrators: F System: F everyone: F
(Answer "Yes" when prompted "Are you sure?")
In order to familiarize yourself with the process of setting permissions through Windows Explorer, I highly recommend that you study this guide: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753659.aspx
  • File/folder preserved but can still edit and save the file

    Nice day

I just want to ask how to protect a file/folder on Windows 7 from deletion, but I can still edit and save to the same file... (the file/folder is shared on other computers)...

You can go in the advanced security settings and explicitly deny file record all users "deleting subfolders and files" and "Remove" permissions, make sure that you propagate permissions to all child objects.  But, as mentioned by another poster, if users can change the files they can damage or save them as empty files.

If you add the .json extension, it works then? Why people who design browsers or extensions them do create files with no extension name, in spite that these extension names are essential to make the files can be restored? I could never understand that.
