  Generally, this problem is caused because of the video card related questions. I would like to know some information about this problem so that we can help you further.

  1 update you are trying to install? (Mention the number of KB)

  2. do you get any error code or error message?

  Try the following steps to verify that update failed recently.

  a. press Windows + Q keys.

  b. type view update history in the search option.

  c. click view update history .

  d. research update failed recently.

  I suggest you try to update the video card drivers from the Web site of the manufacturer of the computer or from Windows Update and check if it works for you.   With all applications at least reduced - so you can see your desktop and all the icons - left click on an empty space on the desktop.  That will make sure this is what is under discussion.  Then, hold down your CTRL key on your keyboard (or other) and scroll the mouse wheel to make the icons smaller and up to do the most.  Stop when you are satisfied.
