Evolution M17x - R3 Graphics Card options?

Hi all, I know that this question was put to death, little but here goes.

M17X R3 | GTX560M | 120 MHz screen | 16 GB OF RAM. I7 2720QM | SSD + HDD

I want to upgrade the graphics card (previously I had made the gesture of upgrade to a 580 M but unfortunately this card does not have), but as graphics cards are expensive for already outdated tech I have a few thoughts on what is my best bang for buck upgrade?

I see that it is possible to go all the way up to a GTX 880 M but it is very expensive, and being such a relatively powerful card the rest of the laptop will be able to stay with her? or the card is going to be greatly bottleneck?

What do you think would be a decent upgrade on the current GTX 560 M without breaking the Bank?

I look forward to hearing your ideas, especially if you are a person who made this upgrade!

Thank you very much

Hello

Officially, it will go up to a 580 M, unofficially it could go up to 880 M (but I wouldn't recommend it due to overheating). Other that that, you can go up to 780 M, but we cannot guarantee that performance will not be affected by your processor (bottleneck).

well, well I bought the m17x r3 about 3 years ago, so basically I is no longer a guarantee of OCHA. last year I started having problems with the graphics card. the laptop crashed while I played, I took it to several technical material and no one could fix, or find the main problem (guess it is the graphics card because I disabled it and it collapsed since then but barelly allows all programs). now I have decided to just buy a new card, but it turns out that the 580 m is abandoned.

I would appreciate any help on how o where to get another card to replace it.

  • s5510f HP Pavilion Slimline running MS Windows 7 Premium Edition, graphics card options?

Before I disassemble my pc, I am able to add a new graphics card with HDMI output? I would use my plasma HD tv as a monitor with my wireless keyboard and wireless mouse. There is no keyboards made for my model of 'smart tv', and tab through the menu alphabet with an arrow on the remote TV is very annoying. Thank you, BAK333

    BAK333, welcome to the forum.

While the Slimline models are not intended to be upgraded, it can be done. Here's a great thread by Erico that should help you:

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/desktop-hardware/can-I-upgrade-the-Pavilion-slimline-180-Watt-PSU-to-a-300-Watt/m-p/67620/highlight/true#M6343

The reason why this thread is relevant is that most likely, you will need to upgrade the PSU also.  Most of the cards that are capable of providing the type of tasks you want to do will require a card with more power that the existing PSU can run correctly.

  • Update Nvidia Graphics Card options Office Aurora R4?

What graphics cards are compatible with your desktop Aurora R4 bought in April 2013?

    I currently have a Nvidia GTX660 installed.

Also should I update the Bios for a new card? -I don't particularly want to do this.  BIOS is currently version ao7

    Hello Alette60,

You could go to any card video out there on the market, the key to success is that your computer has a power of 875 w.

Now, the BIOS needs to be updated, it is really important. They have only two things that could happen is that your computer will not restart normally, in which case you just need to drain the power (unplug the power cord to the back of your computer and press on and hold button power for 30 seconds) and then turn it back on. The other problem is the internet certificate error, in which case you just need to make sure as the time and date on your system is up-to-date.

  • Graphics card for Apple Cinema Display on windows 27 "

    Hi Forum Hardware,

I just bought a new Apple 27 '' LED Cinema Display to my Windows computer. In South Africa, there seems to be no available adapters and the opinion I have of the internet seems to be that the evolution of my graphics card to one that has a 'mini display port' for the monitor is a better option than to an adapter.

You kindly me has helped build my windows computer a year ago and my understanding at the time was that the configuration must be balanced. Could you help me to choose a graphic card with a "mini display port" that complement my setup (or improve) and at the same time would have the necessary Mini display for the Apple monitor port. There are a few confusing information on the internet, which implies that the Apple 27 "monitor connection option, which I think might be true in the past, but the latter being only a mini display port.

, I use my computer mainly for video in Premiere Elements editing as well as stills edit in Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom 4. At some point, I can move to Premiere Pro.

I used a card nVidia GTX 560Ti with a Dell US2711 graphics 27 "monitor. I repeated the screen problems crashing and recovery. Error message read something like "nVidia has detected a problem and needs to close." Above all, he didn't plant the software, just the screen. I just got the graphics card drivers updated with a clean install and we hope that it can fix the problem that I intend to transfer the GTX 560Ti graphics card in another computer, but I feel worried for the next purchase of the graphics card. Is there any advantage to keep the 560Ti in my computer graphics card, but also the new graphics card with the mini display port? I remember that there is also integrated in my configuration graphics. I was wondering if the two graphics cards could have compatibility problems.

I read that these very high resolution screens, 2560 x 1440 pixels, gave some people problems slow down their computers. It would be a graphics card problem? I would rather err on the side of more power than less energy I spend a lot of time to video editing. Very frustrating if the computer is slow or crashes.

    My Windows computer:

    CPU: Sandy Bridge i7 - 2600K

    Motherboard: GA-Z68XP-UD4

    RAM: 4 x 4 GB DDR3 - 1600

    PSU: Corsair Pro Gold AX850

CPU cooler: Cooler Master H212 EVO

    Windows 7

The supplier declares that he has the following graphics cards which have ports mini display. I asked on nVidia cards, he said he didn't have any in stock. If none of the three below works well, it would be easier for me, but if you have any other suggestions that would be better, I'd rather hunt further for the cards. I live in the country but may order of the city. Or a map of lower end with mini display port, as well as my old card GTX 560Ti would be better?

    In stock at the supplier:

MSI Twinfrozr OC 3 GB Ram R7950

ATI Radeon MSI OC 2 GB Ram R7870

    Radion HD 7850

I would appreciate your help again.

    Kind regards

    Linda Collison

    Linda,

With your i7 - 2600K, 16 GB of memory and I hope a good Setup, I suggest you:

    • GTX 660 it if you overclock the system to about 4.2 GHz and have at least 4 drives
    • GTX 660 if you overclock a little
    • GTX 650 it boost if you have disks of 3 or less and use the savings for an extra drive
    • GTX 650 it so you do not overclock and have records of 3 or less AND you usually export to the same dimensions as your source material, so there is no scaling.

If regularly you export to other dimensions of the image, i.e. 1920 x 1080 to DVD and scaling is still present, then go for the next best card, for example instead of a big boost GTX 650 it, look at the GTX 660.

As Alex said, it makes no sense to spend too much on a single component, when it is supported by other components. That's why these fucking directions.

I thought a lot about this kind of questions, since they pop up so much and I collect my thoughts on this for some sort of decision table, which allows people to choose the base system they use, the nature of their raw material, the kind of editing they do and exports they need. The problem, however, is to make all of these interdependent factors appear in a simulation of what if that makes sense to people. Don't forget, we're not Professor Eppes in Numb3rs, so (auto-regressive integrated moving average) ARIMA modeling with Cholesky decomposition is not feasible.

  • White screen on m17x-R4, dead graphics card?

TL; DR: When I start my m17x-r4 as the lights of the laptop turns on but the screen remains blank, that nothing seems to be loading and all that came after you disable the onboard graphics through Fn + F7.

Five days ago, I got an Alienware m17x-r4 (with a Radeon 7970 m) with a 14.04 Ubuntu partition and a Windows 7 Ultimate partition, work without problem. After a nightmarish series of events that I still cannot understand, now I have the same laptop whose only feature is to turn on the lights on the keyboard and nothing else. I'll go through the quick details, since my only concern now is whether to send the computer directly to Dell or what. (you can skip the next paragraph)

Five days ago, I installed a videogame in the Windows partition, when the computer freezes with an unbearable looping sound. After that Windows could not start or to repair itself, so I started to use Ubuntu all decide what to do. Out of nowhere, Ubuntu has decided to give me yet another mistake criticism, forcing me to reinstall the OS too. For the last five days, I have installed at least four times each of the operating systems for different reasons, while moving several GB of data, I got in each of them one bone to another and having to use tools for recovering data at a given time. Finally, I managed to stabilize the two OSs with all updates and all apparently correctly installed drivers. No there wasn't that one problem, Windows gave me poor performance on video games. In the previous installation of Windows, a program of AMD asked me programwise the performance I wanted, but in this new installation of this feature had disappeared, and each program has been run with less-than-optimal performance. This prompted me to tinker around with the integrated graphic configuration of my laptop.

I tried different things, like uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers and things like that, until I discovered that the Fn + F7 will disable the integrated graphics card. When I did this, the games would be much better, so I hope that this could be a temporary solution. The problem is that it was very unstable and the screen would freeze in 2-3 minutes to boot Windows. Sometimes the screen freezes as soon as Windows has been started. Fortunately, I had the time to press Fn + F7 again and return to the previous configuration, with the operation of the integrated card, both cards that appear in the devices, with their Manager drivers installed. But when I tried Fn + F7 again instabilities have increased to the point that Windows would not even start leaving me without option to restore the situation. I tried to reinstall Mode drivers safe and pressing Fn + F7, but Safe Mode does not allow for any of these features. I have uninstalled the graphics drivers and tried to restart Windows, but it was very unstable, almost unusable from the beginning. I managed to reinstall the Radeon drivers, but the screen is tore already very bad. Finally, when you turn on the laptop, the first splash screen would be the charge, but two large green vertical lines would tear across the screen and the computer could not get into the bootstrapper more. After two other shut downs and from ups, the screen simply would not stop reacting and this is the case I am, right now. The lights of the light of the laptop, but the screen does not work and it does not seem to load anything.

I guess that means send to Dell, but maybe there's something that I can still do it by myself (maybe open the laptop and re - a corner of the graphics card?).

    Thanks in advance.

Well, it was fundamentally defective graphics card and hard drive as the diagnosis ePSA says, but I had the chance to realize that my laptop was three weeks before the expiration of the warranty, so I sent to Dell and he had fixed to the less than a week or more. I even had a bigger hard drive :)

  • 10.1.2 iMovie crashes while editing. Failed attempts to re - open. Open with the option key down key allows you to delete the preferences but contains a relative error incompatible graphics card will then appear.  With the help of El Capitan

iMovie 10.1.2 falls down during editing of a film, usually by doing something like adding a title or a transition.  Failed attempts to restart.  Try to reboot with the option key + command allow you to remove preferences.  Then either receive an error indicating that the graphics card is incompatible or the application block requiring a force quite.  Restart or stop the iMac translates the suspended system requiring a manual stop holding down the Start button.  Restart in Safe Mode and then the normal startup will allow iMovie to load.  But after a few minutes of work with the program, it crashes and scenario again.  I use El Capitan 10.5.11 on an iMac of 2013.  I deleted the iMovie app and reloaded it, no change.  Someone has an idea for a fix?

What are the specifications of your clips you want to change? Try to create a new user and see if FCPX is behaving.

  • Can I turn off the 3D option in Lightroom as I have problems cos my graphics card on my iMac is only 256 and I can't update?

My iMac only has a NVIDIA GeForce 9400 256 MB graphics card and I am unable to go to 512 MB on the model that I have (21.5 ' end 2009).

Processor:-3,06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

    Memory:-12 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

It was working fine a couple of days, but now I have problems? New download? He tells me that I need 512 MB graphics card to run 3D. I've never used 3D so it is a way I can turn off so that I do not need to spend $3-5 000 on a new iMac?

Those are just friendly warnings. The relevant characteristics will simply not available, but the bulk of the program should work just fine.
