Example of a simple RESTful POST service?

Hi all

I wish Oracle had provided an example simple RESTful POST service and does part of the Apex 4.2.x documentation rather than put the only example of a POST in the Apex listener (now Oracle Data Services) developer documentation.  Also, why not complete the lovely examples in the "oracle.example.hr" with additional methods supported as POST instead of using a more complex example in the documentation for the listener - the sample picture gallery?

So my question is: someone at-it a fine example of text, data digital POST method that includes the creation of RESTful services and then the code needed to perform the JOB to the RESTful service - with an example application Apex or even the content of the URL which must be passed to the RESTful service to get the data in the table (for example, EMP or models of tables DEPT).

Thank you

PM

All,

Decided to meet myself in case someone else was looking to meet that time - found a very good example, exactly as I described above.

I was able to create the RESTful POSITION myself, but this thread has been very helpful in leading me to test the MESSAGE in an application and create the Web service reference.

RESRful POST method

I guess that it does not appear in the search because of the misspelling in the title of the question.

Thanks Anthony!

    Generate a model for POST UTL_HTTP, of the w.

    I suggest using the free version of SoapUI for this. Very simple. Create the new project of REST. Enter w location (URL). Generates a sample call and look at how the HTML call is formatted. You can also trigger test POST CALL using SoapUI. When it works, copy - paste this MESSAGE template for use in PL/SQL

    From what you have posted, it seems to be an error in user code. So if you can get the details of the correct POSITION, the user code should work.

  • Consume the RESTful web service - by passing the values of URL parameters

    Hello

    I'm working on a RESTful web service call. It works fine if I encode a URL in the format below (it is not the actual URL, just for your information):

    http://ws.webserviceproducer.com/KEYVALUE/FUNCTIONVALUE/COUNTRY/CP/champs

    where KEYVALUE is required by the Web service provider text

    FUNCTIONVALUE is again fixed and determines what the result is returned in the format

    COUNTRY is the code of the country, e.g. UK, so would need to be replaced by a variable

    Postcode is the postcode for example PO14 2JN or postal code and must be replaced by a variable

    field text is again fixed and is used to determine the output format.

    My question is simple how can I replace the two fields, COUNTRY and POSTAL code with variables of the elements of the apex.

    I tried using the headers HTTP REST and the REST of the settings entry but without any luck so far. I tried substitution of variables directly in the URL also without success.

    Thank you

    Chris

    Have you tried this APEX_WEB_SERVICE ?

  • How to call REST JSON using JSON Datacontrol REST secure service?

    Hello

    I use 12.2 of the ADF.

    I created a datacontrol REST JSON to call a simple Web service.

    Which works very well.

    Then, we have added Basic for this webservice.

    In order to make this work, I used the steps in the guide of the developer (http://docs.oracle.com/middleware/1221/adf/develop-data-controls/)

    • 5.2.4 How to include a header to a Web Service data control parameter
    • 5.2.5 How to include a header setting customized for a RESTful Web Service

    I have the header parameter in the connection.xml

    <httpHeaders paramName="Authorization" value="#{backingBeanScope.securityBean.myAuthorization}"/>

    The question I have now is this:

    What should be the exact value of the property of myAuthorization?

    I tried the following, but it doesn't work.

    public class SecurityBean {
          private String myAuthorization;
          public SecurityBean() {

          String username ="theUser";
          String password ="hisPassword";

              String myAuthorizationString = "Basic " + username+":"+password;

              Base64.Encoder encoder = Base64.getEncoder();
              myAuthorization = encoder.encodeToString(
                      myAuthorizationString.getBytes(StandardCharsets.UTF_8) );
          }
       public void setMyAuthorization(String myAuthorization) {
            this.myAuthorization = myAuthorization;
        }
        public String getMyAuthorization() {
            return myAuthorization;
        }
    }

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you

    LKO

    I messed up. Twice. Three times in fact...

    (1) no need to add an entry in the connections.xml

    (2) look at this code:

    ' String myAuthorizationString = 'Basic' + username + ":"+ password;

    I've done encoding the entire string, including the ' base "..." That is why he is wrong.

    Only need to encode the name part...

    (3) other things wrong in interpreting the developer's guide.

    Here's the code to work. Make sure you check the "Include http head" box when you create the rest service and that you provide the value in the pagedef when you create the service call:

    Code of the bean, who reads the requestheader and transmits the authorization part to our call for service.

    public class ServiceCallerBean {

        private Map httpHeadersMap = new HashMap();

        public ServiceCallerBean() {

            String autorizationHeader =
                FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getRequestHeaderMap().get("Authorization");

           System.out.println("#################" + autorizationHeader);

            httpHeadersMap.put("Authorization", autorizationHeader);

        }

        public void setHttpHeadersMap(Map httpHeadersMap) {
            this.httpHeadersMap = httpHeadersMap;
        }

        public Map getHttpHeadersMap() {
            return httpHeadersMap;
        }

    }

    Works like a charm...

    Thanks to the auto ;-)

    Hello

    Hi Patrick,

    REST (REpresentational State Transfer) is a type of web service such as SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol).

    RESTful Web services regarding:

    The following differences between SOAP and REST will help you understand why the REST is so popular:

    About ADR (REST of the Oracle Data Services) is that a java based Oracle tool to make/serve the relational data in Oracle Database RESTful services. In short, ADR is a tool for developing a RESTful Web Services for Oracle Database.

    Reference: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E56351_01/doc.30/e56293/get_started.htm#CHDEIDBI

    NOTE: ADR can also be configured as Web for Oracle APEX listening Port. Earlier, before ADR 2.0.6 it is identified as "APEX Listener" and earlier is mainly intended to provide basic java Web for Oracle APEX listening port. But as RESTful Services have been introduced in the main purpose has changed as mentioned above. ADR itself joined Grizzly/flavored jetty server HTTP which is activated in stand-alone Mode , and it can also be deployed for support for Java EE application servers as a java application.

    Hi MEMU,.

    I have it. And he has deployed in the built-in container. It works very well. Note that I did the following.

    (1) change the project properties,

    In the libraries and Classpath, I need to add in Classpath entries associated Jena libraries, slf4j, sdordfnosqlclient.jar, kvclient.jar etc.

    (2) use the xercesImpl - 2.9.1.jar instead of xercesImpl - 2.10.0.  Jdev 12 c appears to use an older version of xerces as bundles of Jena.

    Once done the configurations above, I can execute your project without changing Java code.

  • RESTful Web services works only with input parameters

    I want to create a RESTful Web Services APEX 4.2, who returns to the client, account information required to certain conditions.

    SELECT NAME, AGE, ADDRESS

    ACCOUNT

    WHERE FINANCE >: FUNDS AND CONTROL >: AUDIT

    I defined variables this way.  I tried two URIS, and the Source Type of Httpentete, but nothing works.

    NameLink the name of the VariableAccess methodType of sourceParameter type
    AUDIT OFAUDIT OFINURIDouble
    FUNDFUNDINURIDouble

    I would like to invoke Web Services from a custom page in a web browser, something like this:

    http://localhost/user/customer?funds=1000 & checking = 200

    I could not make passing the values of input in URI parameters to Web Services to work (got an error).  I did anything wrong here?  Is this supported?

    Thank you.

    After some research, I finally cracked. The URI template for my example should be: customer? funds {MONEY} = & check = {CURRENT} now, I can access web services using this URL: http://localhost/schema/customer?FUNDS=1000&CHECKING=200

  • REST Web Service references: cannot run Google API

    Hi all!

    I learn about how to incorporate a reference to REST web service in application of the APEX. I found a video tutorial on YouTube 'to create and use a RESTful Web Service in Application Express 4.2', which seems very useful and easy to do on my sample application. The REST Web Service URL:

    http://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/geocode/xml?address=san%20fancisco&sensor=false

    But my application throws an error like below:

    1 error has occurred

    ORA-29273: HTTP request failed ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_HTTP", line 1130 ORA-24247: network access denied by access control list (ACL)

    After going through some posts here to OTN, I granted access as follows:

    GRANT EXECUTE ON SYS.UTL_HTTP TO ETI;
    GRANT EXECUTE ON SYS.UTL_INADDR TO ETI;
    GRANT EXECUTE ON SYS.UTL_TCP TO ETI;
    GRANT EXECUTE ON SYS.UTL_SMTP TO ETI;
    GRANT EXECUTE ON SYS.UTL_URL to ETI;
    GRANT EXECUTE ON SYS.UTL_XML to ETI;

    Second thing I did was, created and assigned ACL:

    begin
      dbms_network_acl_admin.create_acl (
        acl         => 'googleapis.xml',
        description => 'Google Translate API',
        principal   => 'CONNECT',
        is_grant    => true,
        privilege   => 'connect',
        start_date  => null,
        end_date    => null
      );

      dbms_network_acl_admin.add_privilege (
        acl       => 'googleapis.xml',
        principal => 'CONNECT',
        is_grant  => true,
        privilege => 'connect'
      );

      dbms_network_acl_admin.assign_acl (
        acl  => 'googleapis.xml',
        host => 'ajax.googleapis.com'
      );

      dbms_network_acl_admin.assign_acl (
        acl  => 'googleapis.xml',
        host => 'maps.googleapis.com'
      );
    end;

    All of these statements have been executed on my database with any error, even if does not help my web service reference for work.

    No idea how can I get my Google API REST Web service works, what is the thing that I'm missing here?

    At first, I wonder why use 'CONNECT' as a security principal has failed.  Then, I realized that this is a ROLE.

    General suggestion: I would stop the use of the CONNECT role, unless you created it yourself.  It will grant to the users/schemas some privileges that they do not need or shouldn't have.

    Oh... giving the ACL of a ROLE will not work.  You must grant the real schema.

    This could be the schema of analysis, or it could be the pattern that keeps the PL/SQL Package.

  • Make a REST Web service call. Error code: 401 Access to the requested resource is not allowed

    Hi all

    I'm having a hard time finding ways to Rest Web service calls.

    Documentation, I understand that I need to create a session, the session is needed to access the secure components since this

    method specific 'ProfileServices.loginUser' was declared as non-secure, restSecurityConfiguration.xml

    In addition, there are two different ways in which I can connect

    1. 1. with the help of RestSession.createSession providing the user name and password.
    2. 2. or by using ProfileServices.loginUser or ProfileFormHandler

    Can someone please clarify

    If you call the REST web service from a Java client, you can create a RestSession object using the createSession method. But in your case you seem to be invoking it with an HTTP request, which, by default, would be considered a GET request by application of the REST of the ATG. So either a GET, he would try to get a property "loginUser" of the component/atg/userprofiling/ProfileServices (based on your URL) that would always fail.

    To call the method ProfileServices loginUser() with your argument, you need to tell the system to the REST of the ATG to process your incoming request not GET, but as a demand that you can do to atg-rest-http-method of the parameter control in your application like this

    http:localhost:8080/rEST/bean/atg/userprofiling/ProfileServices/loginUser? [email protected]& arg2 = password & atg-rest-http-method = POST

    It should work in this way, your restSecurityConfiguration.xml is correct.

  • Basic authentication with the RESTful WEb service and a Web Service reference

    Hi all

    We have made significant progress on getting an application to work with RESTful web services, but are now trying to understand how to lock a RESTful Web service while making it available for a particular application.

    We use one of the 'emp' table sample web services come with Apex 4.2 and are trying to apply the Basic Auth to the WEb Service using Weblogic filter defined in the web.xml file. Which works very well. I now get challenged when I try to go to:

    https://wlogic.edu/Apex/BNR/ACE/HR/empinfo/

    And when I authenticate this challenge, I am able to get the data. (we are usiing the Weblogic-level LDAP authentication)

    However, I'm not sure how to get even basic authentication to work with Web Service reference in my application. I see the error message in the application when I try to call this Web Service:

    401 Unauthorized <

    And I see:
    "The request requires user authentication. It MUST contain a header field WWW-Authenticate (section 14.46) containing a fault that is applicable to the requested resource. The client MAY repeat the request with a suitable authorization (section 14.8) header field. If the request already includes identification of the authorization information»

    How can I provide the credentials in the Web reference or provide credentials in the Application?
    Web service works fine if I remove the auth basic RESTful web service in the Web.xml file.

    We should NOT use basic auth and auth Weblogic web service definition basic RESTful Workspace use instead. If so, how would we implement THIS basic authentication in the definition of Web Service and the Web SErvice reference on the application?

    Thank you
    Pat

    Hello Scott,

    Thank you. There is a function for rest in the package:

    function make_rest_request(
    --
    -- This function invokes a RESTful Web service with the supplied name value pairs, body clob, or body blob
    -- the response as an clob.
    --
    -- Arguments:
    -- p_url The url endpoint of the Web service
    -- p_http_method The HTTP Method to use, PUT, POST, GET, HEAD or DELETE
    -- p_username The username if basic authentication is required for this service
    -- p_password The password if basic authentication is required for this service
    -- p_proxy_override The proxy to use for the request
    -- p_body The HTTP payload to be sent as clob
    -- p_body_blob The HTTP payload to be sent as binary blob (ex., posting a file)
    -- p_parm_name The name of the parameters to be used in name/value pairs
    -- p_parm_value The value of the paramters to be used in name/value pairs
    -- p_wallet_path The filesystem path to a wallet if request is https
    --                          ex., file:/usr/home/oracle/WALLETS
    -- p_wallet_pwd The password to access the wallet
    --
        p_url               in varchar2,
        p_http_method       in varchar2,
        p_username          in varchar2 default null,
        p_password          in varchar2 default null,
        p_proxy_override    in varchar2 default null,
        p_transfer_timeout  in number default 180,
        p_body              in clob default empty_clob(),
        p_body_blob         in blob default empty_blob(),
        p_parm_name         in wwv_flow_global.vc_arr2 default empty_vc_arr,
        p_parm_value        in wwv_flow_global.vc_arr2 default empty_vc_arr,
        p_wallet_path       in varchar2 default null,
        p_wallet_pwd        in varchar2 default null ) return clob;

    My point was that using the API makes things easier if you have to look for a solution.

  • Download binary files with the RESTful web service = HTTP 500?

    I want to allow access to the photos (BLOBs) stored in the database via a RESTful APEX service.

    I have an API of PL/SQL existing based on wpg_docload.download_file works well when called directly on the URL (for example granted to APEX_PUBLIC_USER). I would like to re - use this API because it a lot of other things, including security and the cache.

    The code looks like:
    ===
    Photo of procedure (id number, v in varchar2) is
    l_blob blob.
    -- ...
    Start
    -security checks
    -extract the data in l_blob...
    -check if the document has been updated (304)
    -- ...
    owa_util.mime_header (l_mime_type, false);
    HTP.p ("Content-length: ' |") DBMS_LOB.GetLength (l_blob));
    HTP.p ("ETag:" | ") l_etag);
    HTP.p ('Cache-Control: public');
    owa_util.http_header_close;
    wpg_docload.download_file (l_blob);
    end;
    ===

    However, when I call this API with APEX 4.2.1 Restful WebService (the GET - PL/SQL source type resource manager) I get a "500 - internal server error" back to the listener of the APEX (2.0.0.354.17.08 - both running standalone or with Tomcat 7) - console log attached.

    A similar approach - APEX RESTful WebService API in PL/SQL call - works fine for the content of the STRING/CLOB. So it must be something to do with the wpg_docload.download_file

    No idea how to work around this bug/feature or a suggestion for an alternative approach will be appreciated.

  • Ideas for REST Web Services

    Hi all

    I have to migrate my CS 2.1 extension Builder CS 3.0 extension generator

    As I do the research I found that I had a few items that should be updated.

    A major is: my extension communicates to a web service of MS SQL. Which returns data in XML format.

    I was wondering EB3 does support any type of service such as PHP layer or can I communicate to WS via JQuery?

    I don't really know what is the best approach, or perhaps EB3 already has this built in.

    JQuery is supported? (I so wish the thing) is I should be able to ust that.

    Mike

    Here is an example of the things REST of class of service management:

    myServices.factory ('resService', ['$resource',

    {function ($Resource)}

    return $resource ("http: / server: 8080/objects /: objectID', {}, {}")

    query: {}

    method: 'GET ',.

    params: {objectID: 'objectID'},

    isArray: true

    },

    Update: {}

    method: "PUT."

    {params:{ObjectID:'@ObjectID'}

    },

    delete: {}

    method: 'DELETE ',.

    params: {objectID:'@objectID'}

    }

    });

    } ]);

    I hope this will help you!

    Best regards

    Thomas.

  • ApEx 4.0 the REST Web Services

    I need to build a URL to pass parameters to query to a RESTful Web Service. Looks like the default in 4.0 is to specify the parameters as a query (http://myservice.com/customer?id=23)... I need build the query a directory (http://myservice.com/customer/id/23) is there a way to do this easily? I think of "Body specified with Substitutions" option sounded promising, but can't find any documentation or examples.

    user11985346:

    Body specified with substitutions is used to DISPLAY or PUT a payload to the service. What you want to do, it is simply not set all the parameters for the query string, but only reference point substitutions in the endpoint URL. So in your example, you should have a URL endpoint:

    http://myService.com/customer/ID/&CUSTOMER_ID.

    Then, your application must contain an element named CUSTOMER_ID, and his session state should be established in function before calling the Web Service.

  • What value for p_print_server when you use the Rest Data Services as a print server?

    Hello

    I have my report server on the internal workspace defined as BI Publisher URL as default... It works for my BI Publisher reports.

    I have 2 reports who need to use the rest Data Services FOP engine and use GET_PRINT_DOCUMENT function Signature 4

    https://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E59726_01/doc.50/e39149/apex_util.htm#AEAPI146

    For these 2 reports, I need to pass a parameter to p_print_server. The documentation describes this as the URL for the print server

    My question is, how to find the URL for p_print_server when I want to use the rest Data Services FOP on ADR?

    I can not put as NULL as at the time, it will use the default BI Publisher URL and then these 2 reports will not work

    Moreover, when I put the server reports on internal workspace as 'Rest Data Services', my two reports work fine, but not when I put is as URL BI Publisher - which is necessary

    Help, please

    Concerning

    Matt

    Hi Matt Mulvaney,

    Matt Mulvaney says:

    I already have the correct configuration to be able to produce reports FOP including two steps you mentioned. This set works very well when I put the "Print server" preference in the settings of APEX Data Services Instance remains - and reports can be produced. But as I said, this must be set to a URL of BI Publisher.

    If you use "Print server" as "Oracle BI Publisher" then the p_print_server parameter would have been:

    http://myserver.mydomain.com:8888/xmlpserver/convert

    Where:

    • Printing of the address of the host server: myserver.mydomain.com (you can also use the IP address)
    • Print Server Port: 8888 (depending on what your BI Publisher Server uses port)
    • Print server script: / xmlpserver/convert

    Similarly, if you choose "Print server" as 'Oracle REST Data Services', the instance settings don't ask questions on the print settings, but internally it uses the following parameters and the p_print_server parameter is:

    http://myserver.mydomain.com:8080 / ADR / _ / fop2pdf

    Where:

    • Printing of the address of the host server: myserver.mydomain.com (host computer on which ADR is hosted)
    • Print Server Port: 8080 (the port used by what ADR/APEX Forum)
    • Script of the print server: / ords / _ / fop2pdf (this is not disclosed by APEX/ADR documentation, but as mentioned by Marc Sewtz in the following thread)
