I try to import an epub I created on another platform in iBooks author in order to edit it there and re-export as an epub. When you choose file > new epub file and I choose a model, epub models are not available. No idea why? No work around? I don't see why I can't create an epub from an any epub.

I don't think that iBA has the functionality you need.  You start with a model of epub and add things to it.

You must use another application to edit your original epub.  Apple won't do anything for this AFAIK.

  • How to export InDesign EPUB iBooks author by Proofer book?

While working on iMac using OS 10.10.1 (Yosemite) and Id CC can't seem to export the document to EPUB, to import into iBooks from Apple author, but when trying to use "Proofer Book" Apple (version 1.0.1 (57) it says encrypted file (the file EPUB Id) and it can not evidence.) Y at - it a way to "décrypte" the document Id EPUB or is it some kind of DRM problem?

IBook Apple oven is a quick way to evidence recomposable EPUB on your iPad or iPhone, but does not support the encryption of fonts that InDesign is even if it is valid. You will need to re-export from InDesign, but disable "Include embeddable fonts" when exporting if you want to use.

However, with the Mavericks or Yosemite (10.9/10.10), iBook Proofer is a lot less necessary than in previous versions of Mac OS X, since these later operating systems comes with iBooks as a program on your Mac. Before it didn't, so people used iBook incubator instead of constantly syncing with iTunes in order to get new versions on the iPad to the evidence.

iBook Proofer has nothing to do with iBooks author, which is the creation of Apple program to create their own format ebook owner called an iBook.

If you try actually get an InDesign file into iBooks author (as it can import a Word file), then you need to export your InDesign to IDML file. Honestly don't see no interest in IDS to EPUB export and then import the EPUB, but I could be wrong, I have not compared or tested both methods. Really differently, your book will look like a .ibook like a .epub.

  • the iBooks author does not let me export to PDF

    Hello

iBooks author isn't let me export to PDF format.

I tried to export it to PDF, but the two only options that appear are ePub and the text.

And for printing, I can't print either in format PDF printing because is not clickable.

    Can anyone help please?

To do what you want, you need to create your book in one of the models not in epub category.

  • iBooks opens old version of iBooks file exported from iBooks author

I use iBooks author to create an iBook for my university course.

At the moment, I'm just making small changes to a near-perfect (ha!) iBooks author file → export to iBooks → check the iBook looks right.

The problem: when I open the "new" iBook opens an older version from before the new changes in iBooks author.

I guess that this window iBooks (which displays "All books" and categories of books) maintains the wrong version. I tried to rename the iBook (my thinking that it would be understandable if iBooks has opened an older version if it had the same name). Nope. I deleted the book from iBooks. Nope.

The only thing I have found to work is to put the iBook on another machine.

    Any ideas please?

It would be useful that you said your version of the author of the ib.  It is a common behavior of not doing this and makes it much harder to understand.  but since you are a University Professor, and I happen to be in your class, I'll leave you on the other slide you might miss.  I hope that I've hidden my identity well, but you do not have.

I have to be a bit of a charlie chan and make some assumptions, but as I reread your post, I think I know what you're saying and what is the problem.

    1. you say that you export to ibooks.  What this does is put the .ibooks file, where you choose and that's probably put on your desk or in one of your folders created.  you say that you check the ibook and it looks right.  It was a key piece of information.  you check this exported version.

    2. then, you say you open new ibook and more talk about ibooks window shows all...  I am restore you have now switched to watch your book in the ibook software library.  context is everything.  you did not go to the book on the Bookshelf.  you left it on your desktop, somehow to say.  to get it in your library, use the preview for mac.  Then you can go to the ibooks software and see the current version.

There is little reason to do these two steps (perhaps probably a few times in a while).  the best in my opinion to just listen to excerpts from mac and check it out via the ibook software.  If students, including me, will look at the book on their iPad, you get a glimpse to the iPad also once in awhile to make sure everything is working it.  who has not worked for me, but it alternates the ways to re.  Tom g., probably the best ally on this site in my opinion, showed me how to do this several months ago.  Once on a mac, you can sync to iPad.  It's a little complicated, but you can understand, and if not, you can always ask.

hope that my assumptions of how I read your post is correct and you will give me some consideration in my note to help you.  I know I missed a few classes, but it seems that everyone is getting sick in my extended family, I got a few court appearances due to jumping the turnstile, etc and when I appear and was late, trains don't work that well.  the fact that I had a hot cup of coffee in my hand by way of derogation.  I really have to go this class to keep my scholarship.  thanking you in advance.

  • Problems previewing InDesign CS5.5 exported EPUB in Apple iBooks, on an iOS device.

I have problems of creation of EPUB when I use my document InDesign CS 5.5 of my first EPUB book, as a template to create my two other EPUB books.

My client gave me a job that forced me to learn how to do ePub files - and I'm still learning.  I have created three books in Design CS 5.5, for fixed PDF page, with an array of interactive content and a regular EPUB export, with automatic formatting of reperfusion and automated table of contents. These books were not created for printing.

After that I created the premiera and exported successfully to an EPUB, which previewed fine free Adobe additions, I used the first document InDesign CS 5.5 as a model to create the other two publications.  These books have been around 100 pages or less, with little or no imposed jpeg images except covers three books, so I have not created a Book.indb for each publication.  Each book is made in files unique InDesign with their own unique cover on their first page art.

When my client in preview the three books on his iPad in iBooks, all three books show the cover of the first book, when we see them on the set of iBooks library.  Then, when you open them, you see the correct cover for this particular book and the correct inner pages.

When I open each InDesign file and open the tabbed file information dialog box, I have a title of different document for each of the three different books.  When I export to EPUB, the Option to Export EPUB dialog box pops up and I chose "include Document metadata."  I entered the name of the Publisher and a separate for each book Unique identifier, when I export.

After I sent the three files ePub to my iPod Touch, all three presented themselves in my library iBooks, but when we see them on the shelf of the library that they have the first cover of the book on all three.  So, I have an overview of redundant coverage on the library shelf, the iBooks app icons, running in Apple iOS.

I have two books by Elizabeth Castro on creating ePub with InDesign files.  I will read more, especially the part about the preparation of your EPUB for Apple iBook, on iOS.  But I thought I'd share my problem here to see if anyone has a solution for me.  Thank you.

I often find myself answering my own questions, but I'll do once again, this time, while others can learn.  When you export to EPUB in InDesign CS 5.5, a diolog of the Options to Export EPUB appears.  Under "EPUB", select "Image file existing use" and choose the file that was used on the first page of the InDesign document for the new cover of the book.

This feature can cause human error inbedded if you use a book filled with Indesign as a model to create other books because even if you have placed a new cover at the beginning of the book, export options was still chosen for the previous book coverage file you worked on.

In fact, I got the answer to my problem with the help of InDesign Menu, when InDesign CS 5.5 is released.

  • can you paste policies into iBooks author?

I have a document of word processing with the text in multiple fonts in there. I would like to be able to copy/paste in iBooks author to make an epub file, but when I do, he loses the formatting of fonts. Manually change fonts after copy/paste will be extremely painful, there are many passages of different fonts in the document.

Is there a way to keep text fonts in paste into iBooks author?

The fonts are not unusual, they are all built-in fonts that iBooks author is able to display by default.

  • iBooks author 2.1.3 obligation

I received this email from Apple, it says at the end:

    ***********

    iBooks author 2.1.3 obligation
From September 1, 2014, new or updated updated multi-touch books submitted to the iBook Store must be created with iBooks author 2.1.3 or later.

Multi-touch books shipped before this date will be always considered by Apple or, if already approved, will remain available on the iBooks Store.

    ***********

Do you know if it means that all THE books, or those created with iBooks author now need to upgrade version.

If they allow only created with iBooks, author of books, that would shake the industry so I understand.

    Thank you.

I don't have a copy of the Apple, rules of creation, but in their ads they always connect 'Mutli-Touch' books created with iBooks author. I don't think that is excluding the 3 EPUB files. I think they say that if you use iBooks author, you must use at least version 2.1.3 or later version.

  • iBooks author version 2.4.1 or 2.5

My iBook, author, dialog box says 'about' this is version 2.4.1.  The MAS said that the version the most recent is 2.5, but it does not show an available update.

I have NOT upgraded yet to Sierra, so it is possible that 2.5 is available after update, but I want to assure you, that is the only question.

SHOULD I see an update of 2.4.1 2.5 of El Capitan?

    Hello

It's an interesting question you have posted. I'm in Yosemite, and while they inspected the updates in the Mac App Store application, it offers me an update for iBA. I've been using version 2.4.1.

For what it's worth, I do not anticipate upgrading to El Capitan and probably moved Sierra on this hard drive.

Please let us know what you have found and how you went. I am interested in updates version for iBA.

    Thank you!

  • How can I make the adjustable text size in iBooks author?

I use iBooks author (2.4.1) on an iMac (end of 2015), El Capitan (10.11.6) running. I would like to know if there is a way for the size of the font to be adjustable using the toolbar at the top of the screen in the iBook resulting?

    Thank you!

    Hello

I had trouble with this question, too, as I began to use iBooks author earlier. From what I've learned, the ability to offer adjustable fonts for the reader / end-user is based on the original model that we built our book on. But there is more that we have the choice in versions of model e-pub and multi-touch included those with iBA. I'm building a Multi Touch iBook which is based on the iBA model included for the landscape layout - there is no support in this one for the reader change the font. I found that for me, I had to choose between: fixed layout, content can be layout and multi-touch (exclusive iBooks). Given that the multi-touch functionality is very important for me because my iBook project a lot of nested widgets Gallery, lack of adjustable characters was acceptable (to me).

I know there are items online somewhere at Apple, but I couldn't find them easily. I found another article that can help you:

Best regards and don't give up ;-)

  • iBooks author - TOC shows the empty entries for table - how to stop this?

    Hello

I spent hours trying to find an answer to this.

My book has a few tables - nothing wrong with that.  I have a front cap of the table - that's what I want in the table of contents.

iBooks author shows instead, empty entries whenever he comes across a table, that is hopeless.

I just want the topic as indicated above - 2.1.  I don't want 2.2 which is the table.

Does anyone have an idea how to do this, please?

If this isn't the case, iBooks author is desperate for any book that contains the tables.

    See you soon,.

    Mike

    Hello

I found an article from Apple which may help to answer your question and I pasted the link below. I think that you will have to 'say' iBA this is or is not part of the Table of contents (TOC) and's done it with the Inspector tool, Document tab, section TOC. Look down at the bottom of this window to the sign and arrow down to allow the addition of other document settings in the table of contents, or remove some.

I hope that this help =)

    Liz...

According to Apple eBooks aren't yet available > > I can buy on the iTunes Store in my country?

Simply because Apple makes the promotion of iBooks does not necessarily that they are available in all locations.
