Export of keywords

How can I export my keywords so I can import it into another application (Capture One)?

Go to the menu metadata. Near the part below the menu is an option to export keywords, it is exported as a text file, it would be appropriate to Capture One?

I built a large list of keywords heirarchial in one of my catalogs.  I want to export this list for use in other catalogs.  I see how you export the list of keywords and I get a text file, however, the settings applied to each keyword doesn't get exported (for example, the settings for "Include on export", "Export the words containing" and "Export synonyms").  I spent a lot of time to create the list such that only the key words of nonleaf level get exported to my image.  However, when I export my list of keywords from a catalog and import it into a new catalog, these settings are lost.  Is there a way to export these settings as well?  I could create keyword sets, but it would be another effort your time.

In the exported text in key words file, brackets are used to indicate key words with the Include attribute on export.  But the other two attributes, export containing keywords and export synonyms, are not indicated in the file text, unfortunately.

Here's a way to get the hierarchy moved to another catalogue: catalogue of the source, create a new folder with a single fake photo in it.  Assign all your keywords for only one photo.  In the destination catalog, file > import from another catalog and select just this new folder to import.

Overall, many users are not particularly happy with LR keyword management and the LR SDK does not include sufficient capacity of plugins to fill gaps:

I agree with dg_paige, even if - catalogues are not really designed to share information, and you're often better off with a catalog that much.

  • How can I stop keywords exported metadata in Lightroom5 category?

I use LR 5.0 and have a list of hierarchical keywords with the keywords in categories (e.g. location) to make it easier to manage the list, but I don't want the category labels exported in the metadata as keywords. I have disabled checkbox "include on export" on these words, but they are always exported metadata. How to avoid this problem?

I see what is happening.  First of all, a LR terminology: 'export', invoking the file > export command to make copies of the photo selected outside LR.  It seems that you are not be 'export' but rather 'the metadata record", referring to metadata > save metadata to a file to write the back catalog metadata to cataloged photos (or you have the option on which does this automatically).

The keyword attribute include on export applies to export, but do not save the metadata.  In a workflow type LR, when you want to provide copies of your photos to another person, organization or service, you export and register on Export has the desired effect on the exported copies.

If you really want the metadata in the pictures catalogued to exclude a keyword, you must go to each of the children of this key word and deselect the attribute export containing keywords.   Which will cause the parent keyword are excluded the metadata stored in the files.  (Yes, it's incompatible, but that's life with LR).  Unfortunately, there is no way to change a set of key words of the lot - you have to change each one individually.  If you may wonder if it is really important that your private photos copies contain the words 'category' in their metadata.

  • Export keywords in Lightroom 5 problem

I recently converted Lightroom 4 to 5.  I just noticed that not all of my keywords are exported to my jpeg file.  For example, I have the following keywords in Lightroom; Horizontal, landscape, national forest, Scenic.  My exported jpeg only has the keyword landscape.

In the library Module, when I click on the drop down keywords and select "Will Export", I see that the keyword of the landscape.  I don't know what this 'feature' is all about.  Can someone explain it to me.  I need to be able to export all keywords.

This problem seems to be consistent and I have a test set up file so I can repeat the problem.  Only certain keywords are not exported.

I believe that the method to change things in the world is to export the key words in a text file and then using a text editor to remove the flag so they export not keyword, then re - import the text keyword in LR.

As I'm at work right now, I can't look at the details. If no one responds, I'll look it up when I get home.

  • LR4 exports keywords ancestor by mistake

    Hello

I use German LR4 on Windows 7 (64-bit) machine. No installation before LR (except beta LR4), but all the files have been newly imported after erasing the LR4beta catalog.

"Export Lightroom hierarchy" option is disabled.

If I assign a keyword, then there ancestor is exported, too although it has the flag "Include on export" unchecked.

Example: my hierarchy of keywords looks like this (tags in all capitals have flag "Include on export" unchecked!

    EUROPE

    -GERMANY

    -BAVARIA

    -Munich

I have now set the photo - only Munich Munich!

the keyword Tag preview window shows that Munich (option "exports")

but when I sync the metadata in the file, as BAVARIA is written to the file.

This is true for all the keywords that are a leaf in the tree of keywords. Only the ancestor next level is exported by mistake. I guess that's because unchecking "Include on export" flag implicitly Unchecks the option "Export containing keywords", too.

Of course my keyword 'Munich' has the option "export containing keywords checked because it it the parameter by default and this seems to replace the"include on Export"= SPACE adjustment of the ancestor keyword which I regard as a mistake.

It is virtually impossible to change each keyword in a large list of vocabulary Controlley.

I hope that this can be corrected by a future update.

    Kind regards

    Guenther

Sorry, I got confused between export and metadata > save metadata to a file and between 3.6 and 4 LR LR.  (Adobe has changed the meaning of the options keyword at least a couple of times since 3.0).

I confirmed in my catalogs what Dorin observed: in LR 3.6 and 4.0, when you export images, turning off include on export in an ancestor keyword overrides export containing keywords for a descendant.

Here is a summary of what happens when the keyword of the leaf has export containing keywords but the ancestor to include on export.  The columns in the record show if the ancestor is included in both XMP:Subject and XMP:HierarchicalSubject the original image metadata, and export columns if the ancestor is included in the metadata of the exported image:

    Version Save Export
    Object Hier.Subject Object Hier.Subject
    3.6 None Yes None None
    4.0 Yes Yes None None

Notice the change in behavior to save metadata command between versions 3.6 and 4.0.

  • Private keyword with synonyms exported tags?

With Lightroom 3.4.1 there is a known issue with the private keyword export tags? I have a few tags that have "Include on export" unchecked, and I never check "Write keywords as Lightroom hierarchy." Despite this, I saw them in the exported files. It seems to be those who have synonyms.

An asterisk in who discovers the means that you have several selected images, as well as the keyword (or equivalent) is defined only for some of them.

If it's synonyms that are exported, is that saying the Word key parameters to remove exported the keyword, but in order to export the synonym. There are checkboxes that control, although two of them are sub boxes available only when first turned on.

Note that appointed non-synonyme keywords coming to match a synonym set in another key word are not related.

  • Is it possible to backup keywords LR without import and export?

    Hello world

I know that I can export my entire list of keywords as a .txt file and from there I could then re-import this file in order to restore the fairly extensive hierarchical list, I've carefully built over the years in the case of a hard drive failure, install new etc. regularly

That this approach is based on this is that I have regularly export my keywords in a file that I save later. As I do constantly add more to my list of key words and know that I will not be disciplined enough to export a .txt file whenever I'm looking for an automated solution, can I integrate it into my daily routine backup, which backs up my whole keywords list every day as well as incremental additions are captured.

I have a daily backup routine from Syncback, which records a number of directories. Included in this is my Data\Adobe\ application file, which means that all my personal actions of PS, and settings of the workspace are saved, as well as my LR Presets to develop file and others. Defines the keyword file is saved, but it is simply the .lrtemplate files that correspond to the different key word games that I created. He has not, as far as I can see, a file in %User\Application Data\Adobe\ file that provides the full list of keywords.

Is there a single file to the list of key words that creates Lightroom, and if so what is its location? Or are these data incorporated into XMP in the catalog?

Thank you and I hope that is clear.

    Dave M

You need to make regular backups of your catalog file. Your keywords are here (as well as many other things they you need to be back up), even if your sentence "included in XMP in the catalogue" are incorrect. There is no XMP in the catalog. Indeed, by making regular backups of your catalog file, in my opinion, should be mandatory for all users of Lightroom.

In Lightroom 3.2, you can activate these regular backups via Edit-> settings-> General-> backup catalog

  • Keywords exported contain '[' around a few words - why?

When I export my keywords are between '[' - I can't understand that, on the contrary, it means.

    Example: -.

    Sailing
    Types of boats
    59er
    Drascombe
    [ENT]
    Lazer
    [Lifeboat]
    Mirror
    OPI
    Other
    RS200
    RS300
    Solo
    Windsurfing
    Yachts

In the hierarchy above there is nothing obvious that distinguishes Ents and the lifeboats from all others.

    Anyone can shed some light?

    Thank you.

They denote a keyword category excluded export. Usually you would make all caps. You shouldn't have at the level of the types of individual boats. Sail and Types of boats could be categories. Lifeboat and the Ents are not not to export? (Double-click it in your list of KW and see if "to export" is unchecked).

You can also do all kw does not export a reason any. Not as it should be a category.

Note that LR doesn't do not distinguish between 'regular' and 'category' kw in itself. It's just something that you are placing them at higher levels of the hierarchy, which makes them all caps and placing does not export.

There are a number of good references on the subject. This is part.

  • Question of hierarchy of keywords

I created and imported a list of hierarchical keywords for Lightroom ensure the consistency of the tags of images on several computers and users. It works on Mac, but on PC, keywords that are higher in the hierarchy do not as they should be. For example, the tag Studio is put in place to apply the tag location as well when applied to an image, but it's not to do so. Any ideas?

For example, the tag Studio is put in place to apply the tag location as well when applied to an image, but it's not to do so.

Under Windows, take a test image and apply the keyword of Studio.  Then, in the Keywording Panel in the right-hand column of the library, the value Keyword Tags enter in keywords.  Studio must only show:

Then, replace Keyword Tags keywords keywords & container.  Now the Studio and location should indicate:

Finally, replace Keyword Tags Will Export.  Now, the Studio and location should indicate:

If the location does not show, it means that one of the export of Studio or location attributes is undefined.  In the keyword list, double-click Studio - export containing keywords is set?  Now, double-click on location - is include on export set?

  • How to remove the option to tag keyword 'Persons' of all the keywords in a hierarchy?

Somehow, I scored my keywords 'Places' by mistake (I have about 100 of them under the keyword Places) with the keyword of the person checked - I probably used "Convert keywords keywords person" by mistake. Now, I want to cancel it. , I want the function reverse ' convert keywords to no keywords.

Y at - it an easy way to do this:

    1. Modify each keyword under My Places keyword and uncheck the person OR
    2. Export all keywords, to publishing and importation to hide in

    Thank you

Unfortunately, there is no supported way to uncheck the attribute of the person, other than to change the keywords one by one.  With the help of metadata > keyword export and import keywords will usually not what you want, since the import keywords always creates new keywords with no picture assigned to them.  (And in any case, the exported text file does not have many of the attributes keyword, including the attribute of the person).

Over the years, many people complained about the lack of batch editing of keywords in LR, but Adobe has added none of the options.  And it is not possible for a plugin developer provide functionality, because LR does not provide the necessary hooks.   So please add your vote and notice to this feature in the Adobe official feedback forum request: Lightroom: better management of keywords | Community customer Photoshop family

    Hello

    OS X 10.11.2

This means, that klicks change by exporting keywords and no way to set this configuration in the stone for the application?

No, export a photo does not affect the default values for the keyword checkboxes.   The first three include on export, export containing keywords, and export synonyms, always default for new keywords to check.

Over the years, many people have complained about the inability to edit several keywords at the same time and change these attributes, but Adobe did not act on these complaints.

  • Import of keywords

    Hello

Yesterday I exported my keywords and carefully retouched in Excel, create a hierarchy of impressive. I am now at the point where I'm ready to import, but I just read that do so will Add list of existing keywords, and I'm not sure that this is what I want to do. I'm kind of thinking I want to update the existing list with my new changes, from having multiples of the same thing.

For example, my list was the key word "dog", and I now changed dog to look like:

    Animal

    Dog

    German Shepard

    Poodle

Thus, it seems that if I import my keywords, newly updated, and I enter the word "dog", I now have the entry previous dog, as well as my new hierarchy, while in actuality, just the new hierarchy.

I have tons of images already keyworded, and I would prefer not having to redo, but have adopted the new lists, if I don't know if this is possible.

How can I do to make this happen? Or, I can't do this for some reason any? Thoughts? Suggestions?

    Thank you

Unfortunately, as you have discovered, has no way in LR to edit your hierarchy of keywords outside of the LR and then reimport your changes.  This is a feature often requested in years outdated.

If you try to import your CSV file, you'll end up with a whole new set of keywords and your existing hierarchy will not be changed.

You can change your hierarchy of keywords in LR in the keyword list Panel.  For example, you can create the Animal top-level keyword, then drag the dog keyword on it, then create the German Shepherd and poodle under dog.  It will be kept for the photos that had previously dog, but he is now pet > dog.

  • Cannot delete keywords.  How to remove keywords?

I can't delete tags easily.    How can I remove keywords easily?

I found the instructions that said to select the keyword.    But I have no way to select the keyword.   At least, I have not found a way.     In the library, where the key words are, I have found no way to select them.   By clicking on them, is not good.

I found that I could uncheck keywords in the keyword list, but that requires a lot of scrolling.    There must be a quicker way.

OK, sorry - from your description it sounded as if you are unchecking it in the keywords list.

The reason why the window of keyword tags is not 2-way interactive for you is probably because the menu at the top of the window, is set to 'Will Export' or 'keywords and containing key words. Two of these just give readings AFAICT - based on more complex nesting and attributes of keywords, which can be entered directly here.

Try to change this menu selector "Enter Keywords", and you should be in business.

    Best regards, PR

  • Lightroom 4.1 Keywording

I just noticed that all of my images imported into Lightroom 4 have been marked by the words "Airplane" and "Transport".

When I type one of these in the field of search for Lightroom, it evokes hundreds of images which no display or other keywords mentioned.

When I find these images in the Windows 7 Explorer, it shows tags for aircraft and transport (under the title tags).

So these tags have been added by other means, I'm not sure (as I do) and Lightroom does not display the tags area of the Keywording, but Windows Explorer shows it the!

    I'm really confused now.

Is it possible for me to see the tags (aircraft and Transport) in Lightroom for I can remove from the images which should not have their home?

And how do you think that these tags are applied when I didn't apply to offensive images?

All of the images in question were imported into Lightroom directly from my card memory of camera without keywords (tags) applied; I do it only after the import.

    Any ideas...?

    ====================

    SSM

If I click in the box to search for keywords in the list of keywords for the planes I get only those that I have truly marked as aircraft images.

Under the Keywording section if I click on 'Will Export' or ' keyword and containing the keywords "images that have been marked (and appear in the Explorer as such) show the keywords aircraft and Transport, but it does not allow me to remove his keywords.

I found what, in my view, that the problem could have been.

I have a keyword for transportation and less than various other subtopics.

Under the keyword for Transport was a list of keywords, I don't place.

I can only assume that when the upgrade to LR3 LR4 to something happened to my keywords, a bug (or something).

I was able to remove the bad below words 'Transport' and now everything is back to the way it should be.

  • Confusion of keyword hierarchy?

I get very confused regarding the conduct of a hierarchy of keywords to export.

    For example, let's say I have the following hierarchy;

    People

    ↑ family

    ↑ Botella

If I tag photo with 'Joe Bloggs', I would expect 'people', 'family' keywords and Joe Bloggs to export, correct?

    Now, for the confusion...

In the options key word for 'people', 'export containing keywords' I checked. This means that all the photos with the keyword tag 'people' will also have the keywords 'family' and 'Joe Bloggs' added to them?

I tried, and it doesn't seem to be the case. So, what is the purpose of "export containing keywords?

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thank you very much

    Martin

The word "container" is obviously what is confusing you.

This means that the keywords above in the hierarchy. Given that the family goes beyond of Joe Bloggs, if you check "Export the words containing" family gets exported. If you check not 'export words containing' then the family does NOT get exported.

Can someone explain in simple terms what 'export containing keywords' means? Particularly "containing"? In the above example, 'people' contains 'family' and 'Joe Bloggs', if it does not mean those that contain keywords for export, does that mean?

In your example, contains is not the same as the container. In fact, they are opposed. A cereal box of rice krispies. What is container puffed rice? The box containing the puffed rice.
