  I have an imac 2013 end running the most recent El Capitan. My brand new extended USB keyboard stopped working with the computer. Genius Bar had no idea what was going on so they replaced the new keyboard with another new keyboard. I did LANDAU restarts with no positive effect. I took the computer and we couldn't reproduce the problem restart and shutdown and reboot... so they did a reformat on the computer, reinstall the operating system and the computer has been wiped clean. Home and after 3-4 weeks the keyboard problem was again does not. So, I found this thread... Thank you. New USB keyboards that you buy now have a short extension. I threw this side did not know why he was there... I got it all the time. The Genius Bar only did me not know I needed. I thought it was to plug OTHER THINGS and not for the keyboard... so I feel stupid. Why this problem with the extension? Why Apple people ignored it tell me? Why Apple Care on the phone asked me on the extension? Also, why is the communication within the company to the customer so badly on this issue?   I can hazard a guess why the keyboard works best with the extension. It can be without it, the cable is too short and shoot the connection enough to disconnect. It's just a guess.

  Based on my experience, your extended keyboard usb from Apple is the oldest plastic or the most recent aluminium? Based on which you have a branch above Apple usb extension cable.   After disconnection and reconnection of my USB keyboard on my Windows 7 PC, seems it to reconnect (recognized in Manager devices, indicator light, USB connect sound pieces), but the keys don't work.   I think I should have solved (fingers crossed). When I went to Control Panel / programs and features, I've seen two HP programs to support the keyboard (a normal keyboard support and the support of an extended keyboard). I deleted (uninstalled) together. So far, things seem to work.

  I bought a keyboard, Apple Magic for my Late-2013 MacPro running Adobe Premiere.  Newer versions of first and OS X.

  The wireless keyboard is shorter than the extended keyboard and so does not have the numeric keypad on the right, but also of the other keys like 'Home' and 'Page Up'.

  I found ways to replace by 'Home' and 'Page Up' using combinations such as FN-(left arrow) Fine.

  But how to get back the possibility of type "+ 24" in the Source or program monitor to move the 24 images?  Alternatively, a more useful tool for the editor, go directly to a specific image by typing the timecode?

  First does not recognize these shortcuts from the digital keys that are in the top row, on the letters.

  I really miss this feature.  Before I give up on my wireless keyboard, I wanted to see if someone knows how to make these critical shortcuts for me.

  Here's an update: I called Apple, and the solution is another piece of material: Belkin YourType wireless keyboard.  It's another Bluetooth keyboard which adds the keys I've been missing.

  So basically, if you want to use the first (or most other change programmes, I guess) with a wireless keyboard - you need two.

• Customization of keyboard shortcuts disables other strikes!

  I have long been a big fan of customize my keyboard shortcuts. In general, I'll change the behavior of F of my keyboard keys in the system prefs to turn them over to 'standard keys. This then releases lots of F keys as a convenient "one-hit" shortcuts, currently unemployed in indesign (starting at 8 and with keyboard also extended F13 F1). PS these gadgets of crazy BONES F keys are still accessible by pressing the "fn".

  However every BONE out these shortcuts cause other functions misbehave and the only way I found to get them back was to stick to the 'failure' keyboard value. I have not though, as I've learned to live with the few that arise.

  Example: Running on OS 10.6.8 CS5.5 (my working configuration)

  The most annoying one... Every time that you run a command that launches a pop-up palette such as Transform/Scale, usually you enter an amount and press return. Well, when you have your own shortcuts running, everything that happens is the 'return' is no add a 'space' in this entry field. To remedy this, you will have to physically click on the OK"" button. Annoying, but not a deal breaker!

  BUT my new home configuration is CS3 on 10.10.2 - I know that these two are a few years apart, but they work together again (even after a fragile start with Illustrator - another story!)

  So with this setup I find many keys on my extended keyboard is functionless when my custom shortcuts are to play, for example the 4 arrow keys - really useful for the differential movements. So I'm currently flashing back and forth between my shortcuts and default--FAR FROM IDEAL. I came to the conclusion that the keyboard shortcuts are quickly becoming obsolete and I may have to relearn the game by default.

  I keep reading that versions prior to CC problems with Mac OS X Mavericks. Seems that I read about being broken, keyboard shortcuts for most. What happens if you do a new set?
