  I use Lr 5.7 on Win7 64-bit. I would remove completely some old files and their contents that were part of my previous, very messy organization. I still have parents and masters images files, so I have no need extra junk on my hard drive.

  I tried to do a right click on the file, but the only option is to delete the catalog. I saw posted solutions that say click on icon less. I don't see an icon less anywhere. As far as I know, Lightroom really doesn't want "delete me" anything.

  It is not complex. Attach the drive to the adapter and connect it to any other computer with good antivirus and antispyware installed. I use Malwarebytes and Avast.   In my view there s nothing wrong with your HARD drive.
  My drive HARD click every time while accessing data on the laptop and everything run ok for 3 years.

  But that doesn t mean that there is no hardware problem with your HARD drive. Usually it's not easy to tell when a HARD drive wound begins to malfunction. My first HARD drive died after 6 years of use. But the other HARD drive died after 1.5 years. This damage was covered by the warranty.
