After selecting an add-on from the Adobe Exchange website to install in the extensions Manager, the "Adobe Application Manager" has popped up, asking me my Adobe Funnily enough identification code, by default has been my second ID (old) Adobe, I replaced my updated Adobe ID and password.

  A few seconds later Extension Manager installed the add-on without any error and hassle with my standard modules to InDesign.

  As a side effect, I had a new folder "/ Applications/Utilities/Adobe Creative Cloud" with approximately 330 MB of stuff I really don't seem to need.   I have a panel that specifies the geometry of the window in its manifest.xml. When the Panel is installed in Photoshop panels / folder, the geometry is ignored, so I'll try to package the Panel as an extension to install via the extensions Manager. I ran into different issues for each version of CS. I read a certain PDF format on the extensions, UCF command line package manager, etc. and have not been able to find a solution that works for both platforms.

  My understaning

  My trial and error research has lead me to understand that the extension files must eventually end by in the (mac) / Library/Application Support/Adobe / < CSversion > ServiceManager/extensions/directory. In CS5, if the extension folder contains a manifest.xml file (ex: extensions/GuideGuide/CSXS/manifest.xml) that specifies the geometry of the window, Photoshop will meet this geometry of the window when the Panel opens. However, in CS4, it does not. In my tests, Photoshop CS4 does not seem to do anything with the file manifest.xml. Instead, I had to edit/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CS4ServiceManager/ServiceManifest.xml and add my extension to its content. Once I did, Photoshop CS4 launches my Panel and respect its window geometry.

  The problem is that it is a manual installation. I can't ask my users to rummage through their system files to install my Panel. In addition, since it is unsigned by using this method, it will not work if they are not marked for debugging. It is impossible to install regular extensions to/Library/Application Support/Adobe/ServiceManager/extensions/directory. The extensions Manager does not provide any way to edit the file/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CS4ServiceManager/ServiceManifest.xml, either.

• CS6 Adobe Extension Manager is not updated.

  Here's what worked for me on Mac OS 10.6.8.

  I trashed manually the CS6 Adobe Extension Manager to my Applications folder.

  I have redownloaded the extensions here CS6 Manager: http://www.adobe.com/exchange/em_download/

  I reinstalled the CS6 EM, then ran Adobe Application Manager, then the update installed fine.

  Never restarted. Just went well the steps.

  "Dreamweaver CS6 and earlier"version is compatible with the Extension of MX at CS6 managers. This includes CS5.5

  I still understand why Adobe created such a mess with the extension managers and all incompatibilities between versions and formats. Creation of a universal extension manager should not such a problem.
