  • Qosmio X 300-126 - faulty GPU replacement?

    Hello

My Qosmio X 300-126 looked havign some trouble recently and I simply can't use the nvidia drivers more (can they be provided by toshiba or directly from nvidia.) The laptop is able to display something in "standard VGA mode.

In addition, there are a few artifacts on the first screen (when you enter the BIOS setup), overzall, it seems so that the GPU is, at least, partially broken (and may be completely dead soon.

I called toshiba support center and they told me that I had to send them the laptop for a diagnosis, which would cost me 90 (no guarantee, because it is more than 2 years) and if the GPU needs to be replaced, I will have a price for a new part.

I searched various bourds on the net and all the people who have been in a similar situation have been asked to pay something like 1000 for repairs (which basically means, not to repair and buy another laptop).

I've been PC repair for a living for a while, and there are tutorials for open and disassemble these laptops on the net... so I was wondering:

is it possible that toshiba is committed to sell some "like what" for me to replace it myself? the SE part costs much less (I was given a price range around "150") and in this case, it would be a possibility to consider rather than simply binning widget (or maintain / sell it for parts)

    > in addition, there are a few artifacts on the first screen (when you enter the BIOS setup), overzall, it seems so that the GPU is, at least, partially broken (and may be completely dead soon.

Seems so resembles damage GPU, you'll need a new mobo for this problem.
You can order all the parts of Toshiba ASP in your country. So it shouldn't be a problem to buy a new motherboard for the laptop, but his side dear.

However, if you wish, you can get in touch with an ASP in your country for more details on the price of the motherboard.

    Welcome them

  • Extention of warranty is still possible?

    Hello

My question may be stupid, but I'll ask anyway. My warranty was 1 year and I got 1 year for free. The guarantee expires in 3 months.

Are there opportunities that I can extend my warranty by buying the extended warranty?
    Thanks in advance

Your question is not stupid and it's the right time for such questions. You can buy the extended warranty. More info on it you will find under
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > devices & Services > Services > extended warranty

As I see you just Russia ;) and I think good information you will find under http://ru.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/generic/000000147b/

    Good luck my friend.

  • extention of warranty

I have a new HP dv7 6165US PC Paviolion, bought at the end of July.  The warranty expires 10/2012.  I thought that the guarantee was of two 2 years.

I need to know how to get an extended warranty, as well as a Service Pack for my laptop as soon as possible.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks Ed.

    Hello

Please call the HP technical support and get the update warranty. Or you can access the site www.shopping.hp.com and extend the warranty as well.

  • Defective nVidia GPU in my laptop X 200-21 L Satego

    Hello
as the owner of a Satego X 200-21 L I have not only one but two nVIdia GPUS, SLI, 8600GT.

NVIDIA said these chips as faulty and United States, they started an action, or support the repair or a replacement.
My laptop is a brick now, because of two 8600GT card fried (no intensive games or overclocking involved, use normal).

Question: What does Toshiba on these faulty GPU in their laptops? My portable 2000 is now deadweight and in 02.2010 was just off guaranteed... lucky me. Local repair shops want 300-500 for a GPU...

It is user in the forum and here, you will not get an official statement.

Have you tried to contact the Toshiba authorized service provider in your country and ask for help?
If a person must be informed on this subject, it must be ASP from Toshiba.

  • Question about the warranty contract number

I've been recording my toshiba L10 and the basic warranty, but I have not received agree security number to save extention of warranty.
What should I do to receive the warranty contract number?

    Hello

AFAIK that should be given the right address if you save your standard warranty. I guess that you will receive an email from Toshiba with good security agreement number. It takes a few times. But if you want, you can ask Toshiba authorized service provider for this number.

  • No satellite C70D-B-10U no warning (power, GPU or capacitors) diet

    Hi all

excuse the new thread, but I have not found the answers online, it's just speculation and it's for the different models.

So I have a C70D-B-10U Windows 7 pro 64-bit. When I formatted and updated all, it just kept crashing when you try to play videos on Windows Media Player. I cleaned the inside and replace the thermal compound, even more recent drivers updated and started using VLC as my default media player. It crashed it rarely, BUT it always does when I try to start playing games (Nothing heavy - League of Legends). Laptop seems to do well with the tests of memory, without defects found.

I read that this could be due to:

    • Faulty GPU
    • Defective battery
    • Defective power supply
    • Bad capacitors on the MOBO

Someone at - he had a similar experience? I reinstalled Windows and it's the same story. If it's a motherboard problem, I guess it would be better to just get a new one?

    Thank you

Update: I decided to test the RAM, and it looks like he can't handle 8GB. The 4 GB glue work on any site, but when I have it on the machine, it crashes. Don't you think it's a motherboard problem?

  • IMac broke with GPU known issue (alternative program)...

In October 2015 one of my 27 "mid-2011 iMacs suddenly fell down with 'Graphics problems' making it completely unusable. I started a thread here on the forums to see if anyone could help identify and perhaps offer a solution to the problem, but unfortunately my post even never received a response.

This is the original thread describing and showing the problem...

    https://discussions.Apple.com/message/29036314#29036314

The iMac in Question Specs are...

    iMac i5 3.1 Ghz 27 '' (middle of the 2011 model year) 16 GB memory "

I had almost given up and resigned from my car which is a very costly loss for me until very recently, I discovered that the problem with my iMac is actually a problem experienced by Apple and they had same (unknown to me) has launched a program to replace to fix this problem they had identified with the graphics card in some 2011 27 "iMac for free...

Apples own page on the default and replacement program...

The problem for me is I didn't this problem because it was not until October 2015, of which he appeared on my iMac and it seems articles than apples without difficulty / replacement program ended in March 2015.

I was wondering so that no fault of my own not knowing not this problem existed (after all how could I that the problem never arose for me until October 2105) that if Apple could let me know if maybe my iMac may still be repaired by Apple of the known program of the cause and the replacement , or least to have Apple repair my iMac at a discount price for what is after all a machine that was sold by Apple, but later identified by Apple as having a known issue with the bulk of this material.

Ask you here as a last resort to try to save this expensive (for me) piece of kit that I got some quotes given by computer repair specialists to repair this iMac ranging more than £650 to well over 800 pounds, which, at these prices, for would make me a repair totally impossible for me to pay even less justified.

Can anyone Apple please comment on this issue and tell me that maybe there's a chance that I can have this repair performed by Apple either free or at a fair price because it is such a shame to see such a great computer basically end up on the scrap heap, thank you.

A powerful message, but this is a user to user forum. It is highly unlikely that anyone from Apple will never see your message.

You must contact the Apple Support or talk with someone at your local Apple Store or authorized service provider.

  • Not happy with the Satellite L650 - dysfunctions always

This is the third time this year I hadmy laptop fail.
He had 2 hard drives and replaced PCB. Then a display problem has been occurring intermittently for some time and now that the point of being unusable.

I just realized that the reason for problems with my graphics applications have been all along because of the faulty GPU. I lost a lot of time trying to make this machine to work with countless and frustration and restore blue screen according to the factory State.

I have no confidence in this product, I do not store anything on the hard drive, cannot use it to work just in case it goes bad again. I reached the point of being completely satisfied with this product that I have absolutely no confidence in its quality and reliability.

I had a failure I'm afraid to use it for something else only to e-mail and internet. It is totally unacceptable and cannot continue. When I bought this machine, I trusted reputation and name of Toshiba. It was a big mistake.

I would like Toshiba to reassess this product either refund my money or provide me with a new laptop replacement that works. I have a product that has lost hours of my time and is a source of sorrow and frustration. Basically, it cost me a lot of money because of the time lost trying to make it work. I got it with this camera and I'm not happy to go through another round of repairs. I bought a new machine and ended up with a loser of second hand.

I plan to take this case as a result of the Department of Consumer Affairs, I've reached my limits with this unreliable machine. It is the worst computer I have ever owned.

(P.S. I have another identical machine that works without any problem). Lemon law applies to laptops?

    > If you have waranty consider return to get rapaired... otherwise stop waining is not toshibas fault that you only send it when you understand that there is a problem... and if the warranty is over you can't do enything their...

I agree with you new products are covered by warranty use it and let the hardware verification by experts
If the material is affected, you will get free coins
Of course its too bad if equipment malfunctioned, but it can always happens to the laptops of all brands

  • Question of T61p

    Hello

My computer has a long and two short beeps.  This is not the first time that has happened.  In April, wellllll out of warranty, Lenovo has replaced my GPU and everything was fine and dandy.  All my friends were supprised with the customer service provided by Lenovo in these dark times.  On my advice, one of my best friends even bought a beautiful W520 not too long ago.  Earlier this month, my computer went to sleep and never woke up with the same problem.  I called Lenovo and told that the repair is under warranty for 90 days.  The customer service agent was so rough.  So, my computer died a month too late.  I was wondering why the Lenovo would not always respect their computers and replace it because it's a known issue, I already got repaired.  I was a full supporter Thinkpad flight with my help, I had my parents and brother buy Lenovo.  It's downhill from my computer died with the purchase of a new Thinkpad W520.  I'm in College majoring in architecture and really really really need a computer, so once ordered I am expecting to receive a.  He has been hanging out in NC for about a week.  It became frustrating to deal with Lenovo and I feel like it would have been better to go with an another computer company.  I just my T61p set so I can have 2 and Lenovo Thinkpads opperable what point people of show is.

    Thank you

Replace the GPU is not possible (without expensive equipment), it is integrated with the system board. Replacing the motherboard is not difficult for a trained technician, or enthousiest, but this isn't replaing a keyboard or a hard drive, you need to remove a large number of tiny parts and fittings of the cables, as well as your processor. A careless handling can damage these devices of discharge of static electricity, and errors are not well tolorated by sensivive microelectronics, but defintely is a feasible task for someone willing to learn and accept the risks involved.

However, finding a change of motherboard that is profitable is the problem. Your best bet would be to seek a donor used machine. If you want without the faulty gpu, you should look for a date code from 08/08 (August 2008) or newer. The previous codes have an extra chance of bad GPU, to reach 100%, if you come back enough months (some of this data is a bit "fuzzy" because I'm always looking for clarification on certain issues).

The best candidate for a donor would be one with a processor Penryn T8xx/T9xx of the models. They require a newer Board so there's an ot less with GPU defective.

You also have the option to get a faulty Council 'working '. Many are still in service, and it will remain so for years to come. A laptop that starts at the bios and has a screen broken for $30-50 would be a good candidate regardless of GPU, you want to get more experience and learning then you could buy for that price anywhere and "can" end up with a good system usable.

PS. During the last two weeks, I bought on the work unit complete with the date code 08/09 for 180usd in almost perfect condition and the other with the 08/08 which has 4 GB, 500 GB hard drive and the processor T9300 under 300usd, both are complete with good gpu systems, and the two combined are less expensive then a new motherboard. These offers can still be found if you know what to look for and exactly what questions to ask.

  • Qosmio X 870 has been repaired 3 times - VGA cooling module, 3D,.

I purchased a Qosmio X 870 there's a little more than 12 months (December 2012) and on July 9, 2013 it was returned to Toshiba after I am home and turned the smoke machine find coming from the front right side of the machine. (* service report stating they replaced the VGA card *)

I also previously say that the computer would be go to a purplish monochrome screen then independently turn black to try different drivers again, I could not solve this intermittent and would return to this issue.

After I got the back of the machine 3D wouldn't work.
Yet once on November 6, 2013, I sent the laptop for repairs. Yes I know it was a while before I returned, but I do not very often use 3D and wanted that it fixed before Toshibas 12 months guaranteed missed.
Once more, I received the machine backward (service indicated the 3D cable was replaced and tested ok.)

November 22, 2013 I turned on the machine and not 30 seconds after startup, a message came on the screen indicating that _ * there is a problem with the cooling system please return the Toshiba computer for repair.*_

I fear that the machine was not tested before its release Toshiba

    I understand you very well.
It s always annoyed if the laptop starts to malfunction

It seems that the first fault was linked to the faulty GPU. Well, in this case only a GPU replacement can help solve the problem.

I think that the second question (malfunction 3D) was related to the first question (replacement of the GPU).
I guess that after the replacement of the GPU, the technician forgot to calibrate the 3D sensor.

However, the number 3 (cooling system) may be just a false alert.
Check if the temperature. If the temperature is OK (not too high), it might be
I would recommend you to get the laptop to factory settings just to check if the message still appears.

But in the event that this alert appears again, the cooling module must be replaced.

  • Qosmio G - right side of the screen is unusable

    Hello guys

I recently installed Windows 7 and nvidia driver update by using Windows Update.
It was working fine - but all of a sudden on the right side of the 2 bar black screen appeared a darker and a lighter. I tried to go back to the old driver also remove all Windows 7 but it is always the same.

Sometimes one of the bar displays the multicolor bar
in the screenshot on bar become blue then to another purple

    Thanks for the help

    Appreciate it

I agree with Luke, the point is that you need to check what role could malfunction
In your case, it may be a problem of software based but hardware problem is not possible

If it s material delivers then it could be either a malfunction of the display or a graphics chip problem
If you connect an eternal monitor to this laptop, then you should be able to know what part could be affected. If the same could not be visible on the second screen, then I would assume that a faulty GPU causes this

  • the screen flashing / crazy

I have an iMac 27 inch mid-2011 and today all of a sudden the entire screen became a screen filled with small squares of different random colors.  At the same time flashing and changing colors.  I was able to restart the iMac and my screen looks ok, but I'm afraid that to happen and not recover.  I use OS X Yosemite 10.10.5.  No one knows what it is or how it can be fixed?  Thank you!

This looks like a faulty GPU, you can still get it fixed if you wish. Resume the computer at your local Apple store or CENTER in your area to be diagnosed professionally.

    Good luck.

  • Mackbook Pro ME664LE/A does not start - only fan comes on

    MBP ME664LE/A - A1398 (EMC 2673). MacBook Pro Core i7 2.4 15 "beginning 2013.

During an Office Update, the MBP began to operate the fan periodically. The MBP was not hot. After a while her display off (black) and the MBP has failed.

Whenever I want to turn it on, only the fan turns on.  I followed all the procedures to get back to zero and also SMC reset, but nothing change.

Any Suggestions? Could be a known problem?  Someone in the the Argentina Macusergroup said that apparently a known issue related to the card mother apple in 2013 models...

The MBP has little use, only a few weekend for personal staff... I am concerned, I spent a lot of money in this MBP to get the best laptop at home, and it's a failure...

Connect the MBP to a monitor.  If the monitor does not display an image, the main suspect is a faulty GPU.  If the monitor displays an image, the display or the connection to the screen is defective.

    Ciao.

  • Y500 games Questions

    Hey all,.

I recently bought the y500 lenovo with the sli 650s and the laptop looks good, but I got the game of trouble with him. I've updated the graphics drivers to 314.22 and I made sli has been enabled via the Nvidia Control Panel. For example, on Guild Wars 2 barely get 20 fps on the smallest and highest settings, it's unplayable. It drives me crazy, because I know that this notebook can handle games well. What could be the problem? Is there a chance that I had a faulty gpu in the laptop?

    Thank you

    Hi Cedar_Coast,

    You can try to:

    1. set the power to high performance settings

"2 set up the" power saving mode "Adaptive maximum performance Nvidia Control Panel - see the guide here .

    3. using the SLI, make sure you use an adapter of 170w, otherwise it will use only 1 GPU as stated in this article.

    I hope this helps.
