Failed to remove snapshot vCenter

Try to remove snapshot of vCenter and get the following message "the aready object has been deleted or has not been completely created.  The only way to remove it is to go directly to the host.  That don't work is however a question withvcenter I need to know?  Thank you!!

This isn't a common thing but sometimes that happens. Unless this is the case on several occasions, I worry too much on this subject. There are also some additional information on the http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1039326

  • Failed to remove snapshot due to disk space

    Hello!

I tried to delete a snapshot in 10 workstation, but it failed because I ran out of space - fair enough, BUT he DID remove the snapshot icon.

Now, I have freed disk space in order to remove the snapshot, but how can I do when the icon is missing?

I can't just clone the virtual computer to a new place because I need other snapshots!

I have about 20 shots then how do I know which one it is?

    Best regards

I found the same thing. It is not a good behavior of the software, because it leaves doubts: it is not deleted, but how can I remove it?

I think that if it fails it should leave the icon to try again after you free the space.

Is a possible workaround: create another snapshot, and then delete it somewhere inside the machine snapshot tree.

For what I could see by looking at the disk space, after this deletion, the used space is lower than before the creation. I guess this operation triggers the actual deletion of the snapshot has disappeared. In addition, this deletion takes a long time, all in one

'create and delete soon' should be very fast.

  • Failed to remove snapshot, impossible for the fret

    Hello

I use VMware Fusion 4.1.3 with Windows 7 Setup. The original drive has a size of about 45 GB, the size on the disk of the complete virtual machine (of course especially the disk) is 124 GB.

I had two snapshots. One of them I removed successfully (using the interface). Days later I wanted to remove it. He told me that I had to release about 20 additional GB of space first. After I closed the dialog box, the name of the snapshot has changed something technical, and after the restart of VMware, the snapshot was not visible in the list more.

I created another cliché and tried to delete it. The same issue has occurred.

Since then, my VM has grown at 124 GB, filling almost all the space left on my record of comments.

I can't shrink the virtual machine using the VMware tools, given that this option is disabled.

Is there something I can do? VMware starts when I free up additional space on the disc, which he claims so quickly. Without a method to recover the space, this virtual machine is a disposable solution

    Thank you

If you don't want to fix here, that's fine, I understand.  If it is not obvious, the reason I (we) seek the support bundle is it gives us a picture pretty clearly and concisely what are the components without having to ask a lot of questions or give you specific instructions to collect the minimum amount of information for us to give you concise and accurate information based on the real facts.  If you want to remove the .tgz file in a password protected archive file zip and then private Message and it reach me the password I'll be more then happy to help you.  Otherwise, sorry, I don't have the time now to piece meal that.  I'm sure someone else will happen to your problem and will probably be more patience to deal with the lack of information and then I do.

Otherwise, all I can say is that you need to free up an adequate amount of space on the host computer to solve the problem of the snapshot.  If you use monolithic discs vs split disks, then you need a fairly large amount (typically the size of the vHDD + a little extra) of free disk space otherwise that the operations are not successfully completed.  Split disks do not required as much free space (minimum 2 + GB) but don't try convent under the circumstances!   If any of the snapshots have been orphaned or the snapshot database is not accurate, then in some cases a way to fix the problem is to kill the snapshot database and then take a snapshot, and then delete it.  Obviously with the facts, I cannot make any specific recommendations and have just introduced what I illustrate why info is necessary.

You might be able to find adequate information in the VMware KB to fix your problem, did you look here?

  • Just to confirm, is Remove-Snapshot identical to erase everything in VCenter?

    Hello

Not sure why they called these differently, but I just want to be sure that if I remove a snapshot is the same as in the GUI and choosing Delete all in Snapshots (merging with the VM) Manager. VMWare Update Manager did not remove snapshots by following the instructions. Now I have to delete them all.

    Thanks for any help!

    Hello, bvi1006-

Yes, you can use Remove-Snapshot to remove snapshots ("delete") of VM (s).  He takes a snapshot as a parameter object, so if you pass one of the snapshots of the virtual computer, this cmdlet will remove only the default.  You can also specify the parameter - RemoveChildren, if you also want to delete all children of the given snapshot.  Otherwise, just delete all snapshots for a specific virtual machine, you can use something like:

    Get-VM myVM0 | Get-Snapshot | Remove-Snapshot -RunAsync -Confirm:$false

  • Problem with the cmdlet Remove-Snapshot

    Hello everyone,

I have a problem with the cmdlet Remove-Snapshot: it fails to remove the snapshot when I made a copy of file (Copy-Item) between calls to New-Snapshot and Remove-Snapshot if (and only if) I put - confirm option to $false. If - confirm is $true everything works, but it does not allow me to run the non-interactive script. The error that is returned is "vim.fault.InvalidVmConfig".

Anyone know if there is a problem on my side, on the side of ESX Server or a bug in the VI Toolkit? Any possible workaround?

I have attached the PowerShell script, I used to reproduce the error and the script log file that contains the error message.

    The versions I used are:

    VMware.Vim.dll (1.5.0.1299, "VI API 1.5.0 build.Net 142961")

    VMware ESX Server 3i, 3.5.0 110271

I'm not able to reproduce this on my environment but I am sure that the issue is not with the - confirm: $false parameter. After you copy the file there is a timeout that is set to 10 seconds. Can you increase it (even if I do not at all see a reason of this time-out) and see what happens?

    Hello

My previous post was talking about 'Remove-Snapshot' and I got a response from it thx...

But I'm still stuck in a vSphere Scripting

It seems that the problem is that there is a space behind the names. Because you get the error "with the name"linbgx143"not found." Look at the difference between the output in the following code:

  • Remove-snapshot - snapshot?

    Hi all

    I tried ' Remove-Snapshot - Snapshot test0 ' , but it does not work.

where 'test0' is the name of a snapshot of a VM, but I tried

Remove-Snapshot - VM (virtual machine Get - VM tbbui122) - he deletes all snapshots in this virtual machine, but I don't have that answer.

    Any idea?

    Can someone please tell...

    Dek

If you want to delete a snapshot, then do it like this:

    Get-Snaphot -VM (Get-VM -Name "tbbui122") -Name "test0" | Remove-Snapshot

  • Failed to create/remove snapshots

I can't create or delete snapshot files either using VCenter or the CLI.  I think that it's because there are too many files of snapshots (36), but none of them appear in the Snapshot Manager.  I know not if I can create one and then delete everything in the Snapshot Manager which should solve the problem, but when I go to create one I have error: "Create snapshot in VM VMNAME cannot complete the operation because the file or folder already exists."

The list of the files of the virtual machine is attached.

    Any suggestions?

Since you have enough free space on the disk cloning option should work perfectly for you. What I recommend you to do so is:

    • Power off / stop the virtual machine (do not hang it)
    • backup the vmx file (in case something goes wrong)
    • Open a command line and cd to the directory of the virtual machine
    • run: vmkfstools-i RTPRJN.vmdk RTPRJN1.vmdk
    • on the virtual parameters detachment RTPRJN.vmdk computer HARD drive (do not select "remove disc" if requested)
    • in the virtual machine settings set the new RTPRJN1.vmdk as the virtual disk
    • Turn on the virtual machine

If everything works as expected, you can remove all of the old/obsolete vmdk files.

If - at any time - you don't know, please stop and ask in return!

  • Unable to start the virtual machine after failing to remove the snapshot

Recently, I tried to delete a snapshot on a Windows XP virtual machine in VMware server 2.0. After a few minutes, the operation has failed, then the GUI crashed. I was not able to manage one of my virtual machines until I rebooted the server. My other virtual machines still work fine. I can't just run the virtual machine on which I tried to remove the snapshot. This virtual machine is very important to me and I would try to get it back. Does anyone have advice? Also, I upgraded this version of VMware server 1.x to 2.x, so please let me know if this may have something to do with this problem. Thanks in advance.

An additional note. If the virtual machine starts, I suggest that you run chkdsk, just to make sure that there are no problems with the file system of the client.

  • Remove Snapshot failed

For one of my vhost migrate to another clusterfarm I need to merge/delete all snapshots beforehand.  I ' am aware that VC has a code in 15 hard minutes buildin timeout and snapshot process will still work in the background, even if a timeout error / in VC occurs.  SO today I tried to remove this snapshot of 30 GB to VI and he ran in this wait time, wait a few hours to let her finish in the background, but it seems that he failed and created a new snapshot file. I still see this snapshot to VI and filelevel (the first snapshot1, check below).

If you know how to solve this problem?

  • Deletion of snapshots failed, how to remove snapshots?

    Hello

I tried to delete/merge snapshots to a server, and the operation has failed with an error saying that there is not enough disk space on the lun.

In the snapshots via the vSphere client Manager, there is no more available snapshots, see the disk names:

The virtual machine has two disks

    [xxx [lun-xxx-Server] Server] / 01-xxx-service - 000001.vmdk
    [xxx [lun-xxx-Server] Server] / 01-xxx-service_1 - 000006.vmdk

He always uses the instant vmdk for two disks and more and more.

How can I stop this and merge with basic disks?

    [xxx [lun-xxx-Server] Server] / xxx-01 - service.vmdk
    [xxx [lun-xxx-Server] Server] / xxx-01 - service.vmdk

When I browse the data store there are still a few shots left and more... (see screenshot)

  • Service component of VMware Manager fails to start in vCenter Server 6 Update 2

    Hello

A brief idea of my test environment:

    VCenter servers:

    VC1 - recorded at the psc1 in Site1

    VC2 - recorded at psc2 in Site2

    External Services platform controllers:

    psc1 - Site1

    PSC2 - Site2

    SSO domain: vsphere.local

I upgraded from vCenter Server 5.5 update 3d to vCenter Server 6.0 Update 2. VCenter 5.5 servers had integrated / embedded of SSO and all services running on the same machine and were in modes related before the upgrade and I have them removed modes related before the upgrade. They have been upgraded to vCenter Server 6.0 with Embedded PSC and they entered automatically improved Linked Mode (ELM).

After the previous step, I deployed the PSC external psc1 respectively 2 and psc2 mode of replication with vc1 and vc2 in the same site Site1 and Site2. I migrated then boarded two PSC vCenter servers to their respective partners external PSC of replication by running the command cmsso-util reconfigure - repoint-PSC "psc1/psc2" - administrator user name - domain name "vsphere.local" - passwd "Hasło_Administratora." This operation ended successfully and my vCenter have been reconfigured as vCenter Server with external CFP.

After that, I followed article KB VMware 2127057 (agreements ofdetermination of replication and the State with the service controller 6.0 platform (2127057) |) The VMware KB) do psc1 and psc2 external replication of the PSC 2 partners either by running the command vdcrepadmin-f createagreement-2--h psc2.clifford.local h psc1.clifford.local u Administrator w 'Hasło_Administratora '. I ran this command psc2. Also, this operation succeeded, and when I ask the State of replication of the psc1 of replication partners and psc2, there is nothing wrong. However, after restarting my vSphere Infrastructure, I see that vc1, psc1 and psc2 have all their services started successfully.

VC2 services seem to be failing, especially the service component manager of VMware which is required for many other services start. The VMware HTTP Reverse Proxy service starts properly and I have no IIS role / feature installed on my machine. The error message that occurs when you try to manually start the service is also attached as a file Error2.JPG in the discussion. The Windows event log error is as deeply as the file Error3.JPG in the discussion.

Please let me know how to solve this problem as soon as possible.

Well, I found a solution myself.

In fact, after I created the external PSC 2 psc1 and psc2 partners of replication of the vc1 and vc2 in Site1 and Site2 respectively, I had to immediately follow section KB VMware 2127057 in order to create a replication agreement between the 2 external to the PSC psc1 and before psc2 I reconfigured and show the vCenter servers vc1 and vc2 of on-Board of the PSC outside the PSC following the VMware Documentation (Center of) VSphere documentation 6.0).

    That's all.

Thanks to all for looking into it.

  • Failed to create snapshot suspended after extending drive c:

Hey everyone, came across this problem recently, so far have not solved...

This forum works on esxi 4.1 U2 host.

The virtual machine is a 64 bit windows 2008, Exchange 2007 SP1 on her computer. It has been in production for over 2 years and never had a problem with backups/snapshots.

The virtual machine has been running out of space on the c: drive, I went and added space. Everything went well, additional space was visible immediately after its extension of disk in disk management. Rebooted anyway for good measure.

Since the execution of this task, vcenter will complement is more a snapshot of slowdown in the virtual machine. I can take a standard cliché, but if I pause the file system, it gets to 95% and crashes, and then eventually errors, saying that it timed out trying to hold remote I/O in the frozen vm. I read through many planned article on this problem with snapshots, but have not found something that seems to work.

One thing I noticed when I bring the server after a reboot, all the VSS writers show stable without error, as soon as I try to run a snapshot suspended the Exchange VSS indicates Failed: inconsistent snapshot. If I restart the information store, it will be stable again, but same thing happens whenever I try to launch a snapshot. Maybe I'm wrong Rabbit Hunt with this, since this status shows what happened the last time you tried to use VSS.

I guess that any suggestions or ideas are appreciated, because now I'm backing up without the system standby, but do not understand why after having developed the c: drive it no longer works...

    Thank you

    Kevin

  • How to remove snapshots are deleted?

    Hello

I have a simple question? Once the connection in the client vSphere and deletion of snapshots via the Snapshot Manager, I see more the snapshot under servers. However, I still see taking them a space of data on the SAN, which is where I got them for.

The question: How can I delete the snapshots to regain space on the SAN without the servers? I tried to move them before deleting in another folder first to find that the server would not load without them in the same folder as the files from the server, so I had to move their back on the server that I moved to the source so that it can start again. Snapshots are is more listed in the Snapshot Manager but are always on him WITHOUT taking much space I want to return to.

I was told that vCenter would be able to delete all snapshots of without slot all servers, it's that good, I was told that there is a command option in vCenter which has delete all snapshots of all servers as a command is how delete all snapshots are more listed in the Manager of shapshot that are always in place of data in storage?

Or y at - it another way to remove unnecessary snapshots of without any servers to start without the old clichés?

    Thank you
    Kyle

You're welcome and thanks for the comments.

This is consistent - happened on three different phones.

    Measures taken since the BES

1 deploy an application that uses an HTTP (definition of a custom policy of IT) through the BES connection. Everything works fine

2 remove the app (by its configuration was rejected.)
