Failure of motherboard - really?

I bought a Dell Inspiron M5030 a year and half ago and has not the motherboard.  The part of six months means that it is out of warranty of course.  Really? only a year and a half on the motherboard dies?  Flip on and it gives 7 beeps and nothing else.  I would be more understanding if it was the hard drive or something else, but the failure of the motherboard after that too short a time means that it is a serious problem of quality here.  Over the years, I bought a lot of Dell computers - desktops and laptops, and they all had a period of good, normal life with hard drives that finally will.  Never a motherboard failure.  $400 and Dell will fix it.  Yes, good.  I'll buy a new before I land a lot of change.  When I do, I guarantee you if is not a Dell!  Two words Dell: quality control.  Defective mothers who are not replaced cards earn you repeat customers.

Last updated - Dell came on it and replaced the faulty motherboard.  Thanks Harish and Dell to take care of that!

I worked with my friends HP Desktop p6211f for two days now trying to solve the problems start where the main message was reguarding please insert bootable media.  This machine has been maintained by me and bestbuy for virus a few times so it is a prime suspect.  The problem is that the recovery media fails @ 8% with the error 0xe0ef0003

Hardware HP F9 diagnosis reveals Smart errors ranging from BIOHD-3 and now BIOHD-8 BIOHD-1

Suspecting a bootloader or simular virus we decided to try the back when we first met the error of 8% indicated above.  I replaced the SATA drive to origional WD 5000AADS (WD Green with AF) with a capacity of 500G also even SATA WD 5000AAKS.  This new disk actually started in windows as it has been previously loaded.  The choice to keep this copy of windows or the rest of the plant, it was decided to factory reset that after the recovery of the disc error was left in a State that doesn't start raining.

I tried to change the SATA to IDE modes and also tried to change the drive cable with a good known as cable replacement of the drive with my own staff known good disk.  My drive BSOD after logo loading, normal since this window of Windows has been installed on different hardware.

It has come to my attention of a few Documenhts from HP that the recovery media was probably linked to the new format of addvanced AF with 4 KB vs 512 k sectors, whereas if I replace the drive by another AF I should be good to factory reset?

My concern is that some messages on the reguarding BIOHD1 through 3 form that replaces the hard drive works sometimes for a few months and then fails, but the real problem is that the faulty motherboard.  I don't want my friend to pay for the drive and it does not work, or it does not, but only for a few months until the bios cannot communicate with him again.

Test CPU and tests of memory are ok.  DVD rom as well, that there is no other material other then a wifi card and hard drive.

I can't find the list of motherboards pavilion recalled to check if this Pegation M2N78 - figure.

Can someone advice me about the best next step.  Can I replace with another drive that is compatible AF or do I have to replace the motherboard.

    Hello:

I think the motherboard of your model is notorious for failures of controller sata as evidenced in these numerous threads below.

  • Can not activate after the failure of the motherboard

I bought a Windows version that can be installed on 3 computers. After TWO failures of motherboard, I can't activate Windows now. When I tried to activate via phone the automated message says that I already used the maximum number of computers for the key. It's very frustrating because I had a motherboard last less than a year and a second last only a month or two. Now, my system works great but I can't activate it. It's frustrating.

Try the phone activation when you talk to a real person

How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)

    1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    (2) press the ENTER"" key.

    (3) select your "country" in the list.

    (4) choose the option "activate phone".

    5) stay on the phone (do not meet all the automatic guests) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

    (6) explain your question clearly to the support person.

  • VM Wkstn issues after the new motherboard

    Hello

I am a developer of software that uses VM Workstation to emulate client machines, servers, sharepoint etc to deploy code to and test it before you download. I use a Dell M6600 with ram of 16 gigs of the month running last win7

Recently, the motherboard is out but I was able to access the HD and support everything including my VM. After replacing the motherboard the ATU. host OS win7 would not start. Tech., making mboard said I had to reinstall I did and everything works and GTG on the host again.

I have installed VM wkstn 9 (what I used before) copied the VM to host and open. The first vm "resumed" without doubt as he ran to the death of mboard. The resume worked except that shortcuts etc. would not not open and what I tried to do has crashed. So I thought that a reboot may be in order.

Well, after it reboot charges but he "APPEARS" I don't have any video as the screen is empty except the mouse you can move very well.

If you start in safe mode you get video but everything (characters) is garbled code as the squares, slashes, circles etc. I can connect because I have this pretty well memorized screen and get on the desktop... once again only in safe mode.

I am assuming that the new motherboard really threw the VM for a loop. I don't mind creating a new virtual machine and migration but I was hoping that there might be something I could do to my old to do a little more functional otherwise migration is going to be very difficult.

    TIA

    JB

Here's so what finally fixed it. I copied the VM backup source again. Remove the vmem & VMS files suspense. Then, I unplugged all available hardware devices. Machine turned on and everything worked perfectly. I then added hardware devices back and all is good.

    Hi mate,

These questions - and especially a BSOD - aren't very good signs of a healthy system / machine. Recently installed a few new applications or something else?

OTHERWISE, I guess some hardware failures (memory, motherboard), because these problems appearing out of nowhere are probably based material and not really software Unetelle...

  • Backing Up vs cloning/imaging

I am about to replace the HD that came with my MacBook Pro for mid-2010 with a slightly smaller SSD, until I'm at this point I tried to reformat the hard drive that is installed, this does not resolve some issues that I have so I'll try to replace it completely.  At this time, I do not clone the drive (I really know little things about it at this point) but just backed up to an external USB drive data.  After the restart it was fairly painless, using the USB Reader software from the manufacturer I have restored this backup on the disk that came with my MacBook Pro and had a working OS (even that one I had prior to reformatting) and good to go.  This was quick and easy, very much unlike my experiences with a similar process with Windows (was re - install the operating system and play with the product key of MS and hope and pray).  I am about to start again with a new disk, I know it's easy to get the latest Mac OS upward and the race, but my question is, is there a reason to go through this process of cloning and imaging, with a piece of software like Carbon Copy Cloner?  I'm not asking if I have to, I was able just to the top of the old drive and then restore this backup, but my question is, is this cloning/imaging a better choice for some reason, see I want to start over with a new drive?  I have no idea about the difference between cloning and imaging (or create a disk image, or either), but it seems to me that most of the programs of do both, so I would use some utility, the program has, but nobody could give me no reason why this process is superior to just backup and restore, and then on the new drive.

    Thank you.

My backups are clones, mainly because they are bootable in case of extreme necessity.  Using the CCC to clone internally to the new drive in an external enclosure to prove the new works of disc before formal surgery.  CCC can also clone the current run disc to another drive, unlike other methods, which is very convenient during recovery of a replacement disc if fails internally.

Note... the SATA cable in the system can be controlled by the new SSD... stream is too large.  iFixit.com sells replacements that are up to the task and iFixit.com has received instructions to change it if necessary.  This isn't a failure of everyone, really.  The SSD just transfer data very fast, much faster than in 2010.

  • Green lines on screen - Qosmio G15

Someone has put in place if there is a serious problem with the motherboards in the Qosmios? I have now experienced the second failure of motherboard in my G15. The first was in December 05 which was replaced by Toshiba. Now it happened again 6 months later.

I love the computer, but I am very concerned by the machine

    Hello Richard

I found a few topics on this forum with similar theme. One of them that you can see on http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=9337&messageID=34323

Try to connect the external monitor and see if it happens again. If so there must be a problem with the graphics chip and the main Board. I don't know but I read somewhere that this is known issue and service partners have a new Board of Directors main graphics chip with more recent. This means that you will get much better graphics card but it produces more heat and the cooling fan runs very often and for longer. The second problem is that power consumption is a little higher and the battery life is not as long as before.

Sorry, but you need to talk again with service partners; Ask them about this info with the main Board and the new graphics chip. There are also guaranteed for new pieces of equipment.

    Talk with them. Good luck!

  • 2008-2009 iMac and vertical lines endless boot loop

My father has an iMac from 2008-2009 and it has been fine.

However yesterday it suddenly developed vertical lines on the screen (see below). These lines seem to be 'above' the Apple logo. Unfortunately I can not access the info from the computer

The Mac is stuck in an endless loop of startup where it never gets beyond the Apple logo and turn the circle loading.

I started using the option key pressed and tried to the recovery for the boot partition. This again goes to the Apple logo and the rotating circle gray until he says: "If you want to continue in English press the return key" what I'm doing and then nothing (the circle stops spinning). Same thing happens when the safe boot mode.

I also tried to boot from the recovery drive (separate USB) and nothing... Fortunately, I can access its backups like he always its data.

I also tried the mode via Firewire to my laptop and disk target hard iMac mount (although the Firewire icon appears on the screen of the iMac).

I also tried re-creation of the AMFR2 and MSC.

My guess is that it's a failure of motherboard somewhere as it seems beyond normal graphics card. For some reason any my store does not have engineering appointments at the moment, so cannot take it.

Is the consensus, that it is a dead iMac? Thank you

(Note the "burrs" on screen is from my phone, not on the iMac!)

    Hi, Steve Hayes1,.

I had one come in the other week with these lines - GPU issue. Replaced it and worked like a charm.

With respect to the infinite loop, try to start from an external drive and load an operating system. Should I still do the endless loop?

    Kind regards

    BleverCastard.

  • Yoga 700 - a failed [mother PCI card / PCI - e test result Code: WMB008000-UK7XFF]

Just installed my new Yoga 14 700 ISK

Test runned Solution Center [update] came with a failure on motherboard - PCI / PCI e wich notes "INAVALID.

    How can I handle this?

Just ignore it. This means that the standard test is not valid for your particular computer model - there is no mounted equipment. The test is scheduled for the motherboard of PC - not a portable office. You may also see that the Local connection to the WiFi hardware test also gives a warning. Same thing: just ignore it.

The key is that in general, the paper should show that your laptop has passed the diagnostic tests.

  • Card wireless & Webcam HELP! (dv9620us)

    Hello!

I have a HP Pavilion DV9620us.  Operating system is Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit).  Basically the jist is that my sister had improved (terribly at that) to Windows 7.  Since nothing but problems!  His sometimes would come in and out, webcam does not work and even Wi - Fi crashed on me.  One way was through an external USB adapter.

Anyway, didn't recovery disc (also another long story).  Well, now after having read and seen all the oddities bit this device had with others who have gone to Win 7, I opted to go back to my original Windows Vista Home Premium.  It's like a brand new computer, everything seems to work like a charm.

I had the sound and microphone to work.  It works well.  Without crashing.  No overheating.  Even the power and battery work well.  However, I can't get the model to detect the Webcam (there is not yet an option / listed in the Device Manager) and is not the wifi card.

I need help with these two.  Especially with wifi.  (I had everything else including LightScribe work properly).

Would the removal of the map and the relocation of the work?  If not, you should buy to replace with what card?  (I know how to do these things and am not happy to have to use a usb network adapter)

I also installed the Suyin Crystal Eye webcam software, but the laptop doesn't always detect it.  It is not important because I never use, but would like to help with wifi!

    Thank you!!!

    You are the very welcome.

Based on the rate of epidemic failure of motherboards on this series of model, I would say that the situation is desperate.

Time for a new or reconditioned newer model laptop.

  • Activate after repair

    Hello

I have an old PC which is still going strong, but want to replace the HARD drive with a new drive more.  I should be able to clone the current HARD drive and install it on the new drive using Norton Ghost.

Unfortunately, I know that I have used enough changes to hardware that will most likely lead to a failed validation.  This was due to failure of motherboard several years ago that has embedded Ethernet installation which cost me 3 of "life".

The PC has been custom built to my specifications by a small local company that is no longer in activity, I'll have to do it myself.  I'm likely to encounter problems if I proceed?

Yep - activate by phone is a simple - and often using a toll-free number process

Choose the option you will be proposed and try to use the automated system to ansafone.

If it fails, we'll tell you to cling to an operator (and will usually expire after a minute or two)

Hang up and redial, but this time do NOT meet all the guests, and you should get forwarded to an operator on-line :)
