Hello NAIRK VINU has,

From the information you provided it seems that you must indicate your computer what program to use to open documents when they are opened through Explorer.
It is easy just follow the instructions below and you'll be up and running in no time.
1. go to the Solution Explorer and look for a file that you want to open in word/excel.
2. Once you find the right type of file (MS Word.docs/.docx) (Excel .xls) just right-click and select "Open with" menu drop-down menu drop-down.
3. click on "set the default program.
4. a list of pop programs until navigates to that you want to open files with. Once you have found it select and apply the changes.
5. your done! You should now be able to open this type of file with the program you have selected every time that you select in Solution Explorer. Just do the same thing with your other types of files and your good to go!

If you have any other question or problem please respond and I will be more then happy to help you further.

Thank you for your time, it helped.

  • It cannot remove the files imported in Media Center in Windows 7 Media Center!

Today, I created folders Win 7 Media Center of Vista Media Center in the hope of being able to watch some TV recorded in Win 7. Does not work and more than 1000 files and folders cases imported into Vista. I have the ability to delete "existing" files in the Vista Media Center. All imported records do not give me the option to right-click and delete! Help!

    Hi stur2009,

Method 1: You can delete these folders to be monitored by Windows Media Center. To do this, follow the steps below

    (a) on the Windows Media Center start screen, navigate to tasks, and then click settings.

    (b) select the library configuration.

    (c) select stop watching a folder , and then select Next.

    (d) uncheck the folders you want Windows Media Center to stop watching, and select Next.

    (e) in the next screen, select Finish .

Method 2: You can manually delete the files imported from the original location on the Windows Vista-based computer.

You can see the article below, which deals with a similar question

A multimedia file or its content remains in the media library after you select the option to stop to look at the record in Windows Media Center in Windows Vista

  • Media Player open the files in several seconds in them instead of from the beginning of their.

I use Media Player 12 on Windows 7 64it. Whenever I double click on a media file, Media Player successfully opens the file, but begins to play about 10 to 30 seconds in the file.  I then have to manually, drag the seek button so the file actually starts at the beginning. What type of file. No matter if the file is .wma, .mp3, .avi .mkv,... etc, it always does. Can I use Microsoft Expression Encoder to create a new .wmv file and Media Player will always do.  It is not a problem with the music or video files themselves.  The only plugin I have installed is the Last.fm plugin I've used for years without problem. The problem persists even if I disable this plugin, so it is not related to one or the other.  Please let me know if there is a setting I can verify or something somewhere I can change to get media player to read correctly. All the other media players on the PC work 100% correctly (VLC, MPHC, Roxio, DivX, etc.), but I prefer using Media Player. However, it's boring trying to watch a new movie and suddenly you are thrown in the middle of a scene without having the beginning. Any help would be appreciated.

Try to start your system from a "Live Linux" CD free.  This CD runs a version of Linux without installing anything on your hard drive.  To create the CD, you download a file ".iso" and feature "Burn Image" of your CD burner to create a bootable CD.  The advantage, that you win, is that Linux is a lot less strict with permissions, so you should be able to access your files and copy them to a USB device.  Some Linux Live CD are:
    Knoppix: <> http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html >
    Ubuntu: <> http://www.ubuntu.com/download/help/try-ubuntu-before-you-install >
Ubuntu is actually an installation disc, so be very careful to follow the 'Try Me' instructions so that don't accidentally install you it on your hard drive.

An another boot CD, you might try is "Hiren".  It is in fact a version of "First environment" of Windows XP, so you could get access to some files that you would otherwise not not when starting on this disc.

  • After backup files and restoring Windows XP, I can't open the files backed up.

After backup files and restoring Windows XP, I can't open the files backed up. The files are password on a user account. I know the password. But the message received when you try to open them is: access is denied. Drag / drop the files in 'Shared files' result in the same message. I know that the files exist, because when I open backup and browse for them, they are displayed. Is there a method to open? I have Windows XP Media Center Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 3 update. I tried to back up the files with backup of backup, but it does not work.

  • Cannot open the document because the file is locked. Use the 'Properties' command in Windows Explorer to open the file.

I am a member of the Administrators group on my computer.  I have a folder full of files and other folders that I denied access for administrator users.  Not sure when it appeared that I had gone for the holidays, but now I am unable to open the files located in this folder.  I can delete, move, and rename at will, but can not open.  I tried all the resets of permissions I can think as well as read all knowledge base articles I can find but still not get these files to open.

I've recently updated MS Security Essentials, do not know if this has a any correlation.

At one point, I saw the certificate and it ranked as not approved.  How would this change?  Would this impact my ability to open files yet again let me move, delete and rename?  If so, how can I solve?

I restore to a restore point previous and not yet open - also received an error message telling me MS Security Essentials would not work properly.  So I undid the restore.

Thank you in advance for any input.  PatrixUSA

In fact, it starts to make a lot of sense today.  The files that you have problems with have been encrypted with EFS.  EFS is closely related to the NTFS file system.  As long as you move files encrypted in the same Volume, it is not a problem, because a move is an operation of directory and the directories themselves are not encrypted (only the files that are there).  Whenever you move an encrypted volume to another file, the file must be decrypted, transferred to the other volume, then re-encrypted to destination.  Thus, the destination volume must be a NTFS file system to keep encrypted files.  If the destination is not a NTFS volume, then the copy would result in a file that is not encrypted at the destination and you will be prompted as to whether or not to allow the operation.  In all cases, a copy of volume-volume requires decryption of the file and any operation that requires a decryption error of access for you - more your inability to open a file normally indicates that you no longer control the certificate to decrypt the file.

Backups are another matter.  If you are using Microsoft Backup utility (NTbackup), so he recognizes the encrypted file attribute and it backs up as - is without decoding.  Other 3rd third-party backup programs may not recognize the encrypted files and simply read and write to the backup media.  When this happens, the files are automatically decrypted to read (assuming the user certificates requires archiving) and writings of backup to a file unencrypted.  This would explain why you can retrieve an archive and it is not encrypted.  DVD and optical bands do not use NTFS, so a decryption of the original file is required to save in these environments.

The private part of your (needed for decryption of files) EFS encryption certificate itself is stored encrypted on your computer.  To decrypt, Windows uses your SecureID, password, and other things of which I'm unaware.  If your password is not reset in the normal way (i.e. by entering your current password and your new password) such as an administrator, then your certificate is not re-encrypted to your new password and your access lose him and with him, access to your EFS files.  Other forms of corruption can cause you to lose your certificate, but it seems that at some point you have lost access to your certificate and therefore cannot access files that have been encrypted under this certificate.

New files that you write in a directory that has been activated with EFS will notice that you have a valid certificate and then automatically generate a new certificate that will be used to encrypt files from right now.  That's why the new files that you add to this directory appear to work well.  The only real mystery what I can't explain is the reason why a system restore to a time where it wasn't a problem does not allow you to restore access.

If you want some heavy reading, try this:

"Encrypting file system in Windows XP and Windows Server 2003"

Personally, I'm not fan of the EFS because of problems like this.  I prefer the freewareTruecrypt which is just as safe, but I myself manage keys (in the form of password) instead of Windows.  Also, it hides the names of files and can be used safely on a connection in network and backup from windows volume is encrypted little matter how they are done.  I have not lost all data encrypted in more than a decade.

I've attached a scan to an email, but it says "could not open the file C:\users\My Windows\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows |" Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\TQDLSO1A\etc, etc.

I'm probably not explaining my problem fairly - well, I scanned something in - I used Nuance Paperport.  I have it attached to an email and sent to six people - including myself.  I always open the attached file to make sure that the computer has sent the right thing.  When I tried to open the attachment I got the message "cannot open the file - I have already sent you."  I think that Norton Security got rid of the file I need.  I think I will contact them.  I tried to contact Nuance - but alas, my warranty has expired, so no help there unless I want to pay for it.  If I can't have the problem solved through Norton, I will contact you again.  Thank you very much for taking the time to try to help me.  Have a great Thanksgiving action!

Your explanation was nice... that was my answer that failed.

I was hoping that you would simply copy the scan of your temporary
Internet files folder and paste it on your desktop. Then you might
evaluate what is the problem. I thought that trying to open
with such a long way email could be a problem. And also... it's possible
be a file association problem. And it could be a matter of file size.

I understand that you care why the attachment to the email
failure and I think you need to find what is the problem with the scan
    before fastening will be successful.

  • When you try to upgrade Windows Vista to Windows 7, I got this error message "do not have permission to open the file. Contact the administrator. »

I bought Windows 7 two years to upgrade my Windows Vista laptop. The upgrade went well. In November, my hard drive reported a failure to come so I took it to a technician to replace my hard drive and reload everything. I didn't have the product key for W7 so they have recharged to factory install WVista. Last night, I bought another copy of W7 and installed. When the time came to 'Unpack the box' I got one "don't have permission to open the file. Contact the administrator. "message. I found a solution in a post since 2009 and followed the instructions to the command prompt: sfc/scannnow. The scan came back with no violation of integrity. I don't know what to do now.

However, today, I was not able to open the file. The answer I get is: The MSWMM was created by a version of Windows Movie Maker that is not supported. "Why is - what happens after 6 days of working on this project without any problems. Please please help.

    =======================================
The project .mswmm file seems to be corrupted. I feel
    you have to start over.

Large, complex projects tend to cause problems... the best bet
would be to create several small projects, Publishing (economy)
each of them in the format .wmv movie to a folder on your hard drive
drive and then re - import clips video .wmv collected and
combine them into a final video file.

Or... import clips .wmv in creation of DVD and each Let's
become a scene (chapter), you can have up to 18 scenes.

FWIW... many file formats are would have been compatible with
Movie Maker, but the most reliable choices are:

    Photos - bmp
Video - wmv or dv - avi
    Music - wma, wav, wmv

If this file is corrupt, you can

1 rename the fla in rar > open it in winrar > click on repair > rename the rar repaired a fla > try to open it in flash pro.

    2. If this does not work, and you have a working swf file, you can try using a decompiler (for example, soththink) to recreate a working Fla.

    3. in case of failure, you may be able to recover a portion of your assets of fla by unrar'ing the FLA renamed in step 1.
