  So, a few days ago, I decided to update to El Capitan, entered in the app store, and updates, I pressed on 'El capitan', no problem there. I don't remember what happened after that, I couldn't restart my device, or the download was not complete, or something like that I have no idea. The problem is that, now, I again have the yosemite OS X and when I press download el capitan, it says I already have this, and there is no new update! I tried to restart and stop but nothing has worked.

  No doubt it is downloaded: it does not install automatically.

  In the Applications folder, there is now an installer ElCapitan: click on that it will install ElCapitan, it restarts installs it mac model, starts up in ElCapitan finally and then Setup is removed at the same time.

  You will need to fix the OS before trying to fix the rest of your problems. If the OS is unstable, then nothing else will matter. Make sure you have backups up-to-date of all your personal stuff and know where the product keys etc in case you should reinstall. That your OS is stable/fixed you can follow instructions from PA Bear re updates of the framework.

  I ' v tried in vain to upgrade to Windows 10. After conversations with Dell and MS support I don't know where to go from here.

  I am using a Dell XPS 8500 computer. Running an i7-3770 3.4 GHz with 16 GB of ram. After speaking with MS supports, it seems that my product ID is locked and does not allow me to upgrade, MS said that Dell could unlock. Dell support was trying to talk to me b/c upgrade that it would mess with their bloatware that I had already uninstalled anyway. They also said that they would never close a product ID of upgrade.

  I don't know what to do to be able to upgrade to windows 10. I have it on my laptop and love it, and I really want to get out of Windows 7.

  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

  Not according to the Release Notes, no pre - 7.5.2 b firmware can be upgraded to a firmware post - 7.5.2 b directly. You need first to 7.5.2b, then you can update to the latest firmware.

  So I discovered that my laptop is a version of the basic model of the Elitebook 8740w so I'm missing 2 RAM slots. However, I went to upgrade my RAM from 4 GB to 8 GB the other day, and after ensuring all the RAM was split and firmly fixed my laptop would only flicker the lights indicating that my ports were dirty, RAM was split in correctly or I ordered the bad RAM sticks (which I didn't, I double checked). So I have of the 4 GB split into the slot of the RAM under the keyboard and replace one of the original 2 GB sticks in the other RAM more accessible location at the bottom of the computer. Laptop started fine. I'll try the RAM slot again later tonight when I get home from work, but if anyone has any experience with this issue, I'd love to hear corrections or explanations on what I can do wrong.

  I also want to note that I checked the specifications of the computer and it says that it should support the 8 GB of RAM or more. However I do not know if this is a generalization of the product since it usually comes with 4 vs slots of RAM upgrade only the 2 I have in my laptop.

  Quad Core versions have 4 RAM slots and Dual Core 2 slots. Max 32 gig and 16 gig respectively. Try the reslotting and let us know how it goes. 8 concerts must be OK, assuming that compatible. If the problem persists, please provide the manufacturer for both modules reference numbers.

  My OS Q10 is 10.1.0.4189.  I tried to update the 10.2 since it was introduced last month but LINK BB or "over the air" the message is the same "you have the latest version of the software.
