FAT32 to an old T2150CDT

Hello.
Does anyone know if an old T2150CDT Satellite (486DX4 with 8 MB of Ram and 500 MB HD, Win95 OSR2) supports FAT32?

If Yes, is possible to upgrade to FAT32 using Partition Magic (for DOS) in order to avoid data loss? I'd rather not in HD.

Thanks for all your comments

Eduardo / Argentina

Hello Eduardo

As Tom said it depends on the OS. If I remember well with W95, it won't work just with W98.

  • I try to start the old T2150CDT - error message "not found reading drive C of the sector.

    Hello

I came by one of them and trying to fire, but I get the message, "sector not found reading drive C". I get this message just after windows 98 logo appears.

Problem is that I am limited in what I can do, because I don't have a floppy drive and back does not recognize the CD drive (missing drivers); Although I can hear it when starting upwards.

So I out the HARD drive and pasted the installation windows 98 inside files. then tried to reinstall, but I still have the message of "sector not found reading drive C". The drive is too large (it's about 2.1 GB.)

Install the right drivers for the CD Rom would allow me to install from a CD?

    It works usually
    Thank you
    John

As far as I know the error message; "Sector not found reading drive C" appears because of these three reasons:
    -physical HARD drive failure
    -corrupted HARD drive file system
    -Bad RAM

In the first case, you should try to format the whole HARD drive and should try to install the new OS.
If it will not help, chances are that HARD drive is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced.

  • Re: Need to format an internal hard drive in FAT32, how?

OK, this is no playstation forum but bear with me.

I bought a new samsung 1 TB drive HARD internal to my playstation 3 but it can't recognize him, probably because it is not formatted in FAT32. I need to format this drive. I tried to put in an old laptop and do it, but the connections are different. I put in my Satellite A500-12W and thought using an old windows XP cd and find a 'format' instead of the installation option. However, the computer would not boot from the CD with the new drive in. I got the error message:

"PXE - E61: media test failure, check cable for.
"PXE - MOF: exit Pxe rom.

The drive is new and should not be defective. I had created satellite before recovery discs so I put the number 1 and then I reached the installation process, but it seemed that I had no choice but to install all of the thing which is 4 DVD and when I did it before that I remember it being a working day (formatting often is with all OK that must be pressed) and I work a lot these days , I would like to avoid making a complete installation just to be able to felete it again and format it to FAT32. Since we are talking about the internal drive I can't do it just Windows because there is no windows on it...

The user manual has nothing useful to contribute, I looked through the installer looking for a 'format' option but does.

Can someone help me? For example can I enter in MS-DOS without an OS istalled and do it from there? What I want is a FAT32 HDD is empty...

If possible, connect the new HARD drive to a computer as a external HARD drive and try to change it to FAT 32.
PartitionMagic application of best and powerful enough to do this.

Googling around you will find NTFS to FAT32 converter. Something like Aomei NTFS to FAT32 Converter. Check it out.

    A:\ >

When I type FDISK all I get a message that says
    No fixed disk present.
    So I'm stuck.

Any ideas suggestions? Can't see a way past it.
    Everyone?

    Thank you

I assume that you have placed this HARD drive in the laptop, but you have not formatted it.
If you want to install a Win98 HARD drive must contain a FAT or FAT32 file system.
I recommend booting from the Windows XP CD and format.

  • How to compress old files

Does anyone know the procedure to compress old files (I partitioned my hard drive in drive c and drive d (FAT32)

    If it makes a difference!

You can use the compressed (zipped) Folders feature offered by Windows XP: read the article at the following web address

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/306531/en-us

If your drive is formatted with the NTFS file system, you can use NTFS file Compression, which is quite different from compressing files with compressed (zipped) folders.

  • My old songs will not erase my player

Heya. I have not actually used my Sansa for a long time. In any case, I would like to start using it again, but I can't seem to be able to remove my old tunes with her. When I connect the drive, then go to my computer, the record player shows no no song. When I go into properties, it shows that the player is essentially complete. Play all the songs in my player, but I can't see them in the folder when you go in my computer... so I can't erase the EM. Any ideas?

I don't know if that helps, but the last time I used it I was on a mac, but I'm on a PC now

Go into my computer, click the icon for the mp3 player, go to the drive icon, right click and click on format. don't forget to format it in fat32 (im not 100% sure of the fat 32) and everything will be gone except for the firmware.

  • to access the old xp disc in vista

Had problem with the old pc from Dell. New HDD inserted using windows vista. I have a station and tried to view the old hard drive (which was operating with windows xp) but cannot access it. Message concerning the formatting of the new drive, but it would be clean which I need to access files. Advice welcome

The program I used was an older version of Data Rescue
As I said it is has worked for me several times recover data from disks of my friend. The new version looks like it can be used as well by the PC for recovery and as a separate rescue CD. I think that the they have offered a trial to show if he could find the files first. But there are other programs as well. The old version of the DR could save an external USB or external drive as long as it is FAT32.
  • Copy an old hard drive for Compaq laptop.

I have a Compaq Armada 7380DMT with a noisy (noise that feels like the dentist worn forest is in your head) drive hard 4gig. I want to copy it to a disk good 6gig, with diagnostic partition.

What utility actually * operation * so that when I install the new drive it starts in ye olde Windows 95 b instead of saying 'Missing Operating system '?

I tried Paragon Drive Copy 9 Pro with the copy of defining raw partition and Dubaron DiskImage. Or copied the disc correctly so it could start on partition 2, but he could start on the diagnostic partition if I held F10.

The diagnostic partition is FAT16 with a very bare Windows 3.1 on it, with the Compaq utility as shell instead of program manager program. The other partitions are a primary FAT32 and an extended with a logical partition to FAT32 partition.

The PC that I have to do the copy with host is a laptop computer running 32 bit Vista Ultimate SP1 and a couple of USB adapters IDE laptop.

PS, I was do this kind of things computer since nearly 27 years and still have not seen all "fun and interesting" ways to complicate the life of a tech computer companies have set up!

I couldn't find any disk copy utility that could copy all partitions AND create the thing correctly. Here's what I figure out to make it work.

    1. with the original disc in, press F10 when booting to access the diagnostic partition. Use the options to make the diagnostic and installation floppies.

    2. make a startup with Windows 95 disk, then make a copy on C:\ of MSDOS. SYS and change the name to MSDOS. BAK

    3. right click MS-DOS. BAK, click Poperties and uncheck the box system, hidden and read-only. Copy MSDOS. BAK on the startup disk.

    4. install the new VIRGIN hard drive and start with the diagnostic disk. It will take you through the implementation of a diagnostic partition and install the configuration files / Compaq PC diagnosis.

    5. Insert the startup disk and restart. Use FDISK to create partitions. PARTITION 2 MARK AS ACTIVE. It is 2. TWO. Not 1!

    6. Restart then FORMAT C:/s so the file system will be installed. To format all the others that you have created.

    7 A:\>attrib c:\msdos.sys s h - r

    8 A:\>copy msdos.bak c:\msdos.sys

    9 A:\>attrib msdos.sys + s + h + r

    10. remove the disc, connect it and the old drive to another PC by any means. USB > IDE adapters will work.

    11. on the old disk, use Explorer to go to the volume, which Windows 95 is installed.

    12. you need NOT hide all files and to display the name of Windows file extensions.

    13. press Ctrl a to select all files.

14 hold CTRL and click on IO COMMAND.COM. SYS AND MSDOS. SYS to deselect them.

15 drag with the RIGHT button of the mouse on the new drive, release and click on copy.

    16. when it's done copying, stop and then install the new hard drive in the laptop. Start up and you should be to the old windows on a new drive.

This process works even to switch to Windows 95 and 98 on a new disc using the Win 9 x computer is running. You must move the page file to the root of C:, or to another drive is not in the Windows folder. Format the new drive with the /s switch and when you copy everything, deselect MSDOS. SYS, so it will copy the basic version FORMAT installed.

It took me a lot of research to find the last disk of Compaq PC Diagnostics making SoftPaq to the Armada 7300 series, because HP does not have it on the downloads page for the driver of the laptop. This is the version 10.40 a, sp16085 number ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp16001-16500/ here the version removes the diagnostic partition configuration option. 10.39 version has, sp12906, keeps the installation program. • Windows 7 does not not FAT32

    Hello

I have a number of FAT32 external disks/devices that work well until a few weeks ago. It's 2 classic ipod and recorder HD

with a 32 GB SD card.

All of a sudden when I connect to my PC, I get an error message saying "you need to format the disk in drive E or j: until you can use it.

Now, I tried this and many other forums and what they seem to be talking trying to re - format the drives and devices, unfortunately is not an option in this case as such.

I want my PC to be able to work with these devices, as they were previously.

My iPod won't work Al even after a manual reset/restore and via iTunes.

I have an old netbook XP that recognizes and works with all drives and devices. This isn't an option of going there

Desktop computer running windows 7 has stopped doing that, maybe I've changed inadvertently tweaks, maybe something happened. But these devices have worked before, and now they are used.

    Please any help.

    See you soon

    Cheers for all your help.

Got around run SFC/scannow in CMD line and that seemed to do the trick.

After getting married, I updated my Apple ID with my new name and e-mail address.  This well it worked and I can access iTunes etc but my iCloud storage is almost full and I tried to connect to improve it but it still shows my old email address and name.  I can't connect to it knowing that I replaced all the details so the old account doesn't really exist, but it will not display my new address.  I went in my Apple ID to see where he was always picking up the old name/e-mail since but there just my new details (as it should) and I don't see where it's always the old details.  How to forget my old data.  I have almost no storage iCloud and have no way to resolve this issue now.
