  Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily disables hardware acceleration, restores some settings and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

  If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button

    then select restart with disabled modules.

  If Firefox does not work, you can start Firefox in Mode safe as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.

• How to manage search engines in Firefox 34.0.5?

  I use Firefox for some time now, but the latest version has screwed up the search bar. I have seen a few posts related to this, but none of them solve my current problem.

  I use and addon called 'add to search for' it allows me take bars of research on many sites and add as a search engine. It also lets you define keywords for different search engines. Version 33 and lower when you click on manage search engines, it is possible to change the order of search engines, change their keywords, remove them and even rename. With the update to version 34.0.5, all these features are lost. Keywords are still operating, but I can't modify or delete/rename of the search engines, I added. Does anyone know how this can be done? I wish I could edit the keywords and I would also like to be able to remove search engines, I added at this point Mozilla has done that hard.

  Hello kirkpete, please try this: go to firefox > help > troubleshooting information > profile folder - "view folder", then a new window will open. in this search on a file named user.js window (it can be used to overwrite your custom settings). where it is present, delete or rename this file and then restart firefox.

  Hi, try this: Type Subject: config in the address bar, press ENTER, accept the warning, scroll to browser.newtab.url and see what the exact URL is set to in 'Value', which may give a clue as to origin. There are on: newtab which you can modify, right-click > edit, but it will most likely get changed by everything it touches. - Editor of Configuration of Firefox.
