Fax and absent scanning of my Vista Ultimate.

For some reason, all of a sudden my fax and scan program is now gone.  I did not take everything I can think of to cause this.  Y at - it somewhere that I can download it again?

Hello

I suggest you try to find the option in the following location.

Method 1:

Step 1:

Copy the location below and put it in the start menu search box and press ENTER.

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start start\program

Step 2:

You can find the file WFS.exe of origin from the following location.

C:\windows\system32\wfs.exe

Method 2:

Let us try to restore the start menu default settings and check if find you Windows Fax and Scan option in there.

(a) open the bar of tasks and the Start Menu properties by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, appearance and personalization, and then clicking the taskbar and Start Menu.

(b) click the Start Menu tab, and then click Customize.

(c) in the Customize Start Menu dialog box, click on use default settings and then click OK.

Hope this information is useful.

  • Computer daily and random stops with laptop Vista Ultimate

I use a laptop Toshiba Qosmio with Vista Ultimate.  The machine stops completely randomly on its own and I have to restart - which can take up to four minutes - I get a message in an unexpected way, the machine closed and restarted in XXXX seconds.

This morning I got Excel (2007) and Word (2007) open and use my webmail (work and personnel).   I use Internet Explorer.  It is quite frustrating and I don't know where to start to try at the source of how correct the problem or address.  The machine is not quite 3 years and Vista Ultimate came installed on the machine.  I installed the Service Packs 1 and 2 on the machine.  I'm also trying to determine if I should Windows 7 would avoid most of these stop random downs.

I am open to your ideas and I appreciate your help - I'm not a computer wizzard, so dumb down for me.

  • Windows Fax and Scan does not appear in the start menu

: I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium and you want to (a) send faxes via a modem local fax and b scan docs from a local scanner. I mean, there should be a program Windows fax and scan shown in the start menu. I clicked all programs on the start menu, and it doesn't always show. Suggestions?

    From: Hal

Fax and scan is available in Windows Vista Business and Ultimate editions, it is not available in any of the Windows Vista Home editions.  Since you have a version of Windows Vista Edition family, the only option of fax is a third-party product.  These products work under Windows Vista:

    Snappy Fax

    http://www.snappysoftware.com/

    RKSFax

    http://www.rkssoftware.com/rksfax/overview.html

    VentaFax

    http://www.VentaFax.com/

    FaxTalk FaxCenter Pro 7.5

    http://www.FaxTalk.com/products/ftfcp/index.htm

I have seen reports that the free version of BVRP also works with Windows Vista:

    http://www.usr.com/BVRP/bvrp.asp

    BVRP PhoneTools

Given the above comes with the new USR modem, I don't know if it will work with no - USR modems.  Alternatively, you can send faxes via your Internet connection provided you are willing to pay for an Internet E - Fax service:

  • System has crashed, reinstalled Vista Ultimate x 64 OEM DVD and now cannot be enabled as a key is already "in use".

So yes, my little hard drive, so I bought a new, formatted to NTFS and installed my copy of Vista Ultimate x 64 I used on my drive HARD end. I was unable to activate my OS because of the product key being «already in use» Is there something I can do or where can I find the number to talk to a human being that I can explain and get this situation resolved?

    Activate manually.

To activate manually, go to start, search, and type in slui 4 enter.  Enter your country and press Next.  You will be on a screen with a phone number and a bunch of codes below.  Dial the number and browse automatic guests until you get to a human being.  Have your handy product code because it will be asked.  Explain the situation, but it's the same PC and only installed on this PC.  They should give you a code to enter on this screen to activate Vista.

    I hope this helps.

  • Reinstall a downloaded version of Vista Ultimate?

I have a laptop that I have upgraded to Vista Ultimate is about one year.  I chose the option 'Download' when I bought the upgrade, so I obviously don't have a disc.  The laptop got buggy and slow and I would like to do a clean reinstall (IE format the hard drive and reinstall) of my current Vista Ultimate OS.  I read on the creation of a "restore" disk, but were not able to determine if this is the correct way to do what I want to do.  Help, please!  Is it possible to do?

You need a recovery partition to create a Disk Recovery (the Manufacturer installs that partition), and you have Imaging is not the answer to a buggy installation

Reinstall the original operating system, it came with > and then perform the upgrade to ultimate.

Borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

  • Update Vista Home Premium to Vista Ultimate CD.

When I first bought Vista Ultimate it came with a contract for upgrading other systems to home premium so I did it on my laptop.  Installation of Home Premium is released the CD of Vista Ultimate.   Now I have 7 on my desktop and I would use the Vista Ultimate CD to upgrade my laptop Home Premium to Ultimate.  However, when it reads the PID and the entered Activation Code it will not allow an update: I am already current.  Is there a way to get around this without making a facility clean and rebuild again?

"does not allow an update: I am already current.

Read this info and see if it applies to you:

Looking for a difference in numbers/Service Pack levels.

If Service Packs came pre-installed on the operating system, there is no way to uninstall them.
You will need to swap the disk to upgrade to a later version that includes the missing Service Pack.

On your installed operating system Service Pack level cannot be greater than what is on the disk to upgrade.

Click Start > right click on computer > properties > system > it will tell you which SP you have install.

  • The link "FAX and SCAN" is not working (says no link) on my Vista Ultimate desktop.

    Hello:

I've never used the link "FAX and SCAN" until that earlier, and it failed.  How can I fix?  I have Vista Ultimate (SP2) with all the patches and updates.  I use a gateway GT5438 desktop (with DSL, works very well) connected to a HP Photosmart C6180 all-in-one who has a FAX option.  How can I solve this problem?  Thank you.

Fax works through the telephone system. Your HP printer may let you fax directly from the printer, if it is connected to a telephone line, you will need to consult your documentation.

You can search electronic fax software that allows you to send a fax by downloading on a server such as efax.
