Hi all:

I would like to know the characteristics of database Enterpriise Edition and Standard Edition database 10g and 11g.

The reason behind this is to compare the functionality of Enterprise Edition and Standard Edition

I would be very grateful if someone can give me the links of some documents.

  • Problem with Oracle fail safe 4.1.1 on W2k8 R2 Cluster Failover and Oracle 11.2.0.4 database

    Hi all

    I'm doing some tests on a Windows 2008 (64-bit) R2 two-node failover Cluster.

Attached is the log of the OFS Cluster Dump (no error in my opinion).

I surfed around but I can't find anything to solve the problem.

I think something about the language of the (Italian) OS and Oracle NLS settings (AMERICAN. AMERICA), but obviolsly I'm not sure about this.

Thanks in advance for any suggestion,

  • How the installation program an Oracle 12 c and database instance without using DBCA, or YES?

    Hello

I was in charge of the implementation of an Oracle 12 c instance and a database on Redhat 6.4. The caveat is that I can't use the DBCA or YES GUI to do this, I can only use the command line...

The other issue is there is already the default ORCL instance and the database. So I need to get up a second instance and database, to the sides of it.

Which is fine, but it is almost impossible to find tutorials on how to do this way.

So if someone can tell me a good doc on how to do this it would be much appreciated.

    Thank you

    Sam

It would be at this point that I would like to inform my boss that the way he wants me to approach my work will make me very unproductive. I could no longer made in a short period of time, if I could use the tools Oracle provides for me.

Maybe I got lucky, but I've never worked for a manager who gave me details like this in the way of my job. Generally said "here's the requirements, now get on with the job." His place for me to decide how to do the task at hand. That being said, I could definitely see a Manager saying something like "we don't have the budget by Exceed for your XWindows environment' (or other 3rd party software X), but that doesn't stop me using X if I could find a way to do it within budget.

You can certainly install the software silently without X. Google for Oracle Silent Install and you should get a lot of success. You will need to create a response file, and then run the YES program with her. This gives you the software installed with only the command line.

Regards to the manual creation of the database, you can do it too. Here is a link to the Oracle documentation: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28310/create003.htm#ADMIN11073

Have fun! It is so much easier with the DBCA Wizard now.

Finally, if it were me, I would give my post to the company a serious reflection. I prefer to work for a boss who gives me rather than a solely responsible for micro me. I do not say your in a bad position. I don't know all the details. You can be perfectly happy with this work, that would be great! But the comments of the kind that a Manager always give me pause.

    See you soon,.

Oracle XE comes with Apex as an administrator and developer web interfaces. The apex is web enabled the PL/SQL code. And such a code heavily used package HTP.

    NO.

Listener is a specific node resource, so you should have 1 single earphone (ranging from the upper version of DB House) on a server and it will be.

  • New feature of Oracle 11 g

    Hi Experts

I am doing an upgrade to Oracle 9.2.0.8 32 bit to 64 bit 11 GR 2 and I met the Oracle Document ID 7691270.8 and Oracle Database 11 g 2 Companion upgrade (Version 2.80). Both mention about the new feature of datafilewrite_errors_crash_instance. It started with the Group of hotfixes for 11.2.0.2 indicating that a clerical error in any data file will cause the database to perform a cancel stop the instance.

In hopes of better understanding this new google I found this site that explains a little abit more info on it - http://www.jobacle.nl/?p=1126

Now my question is can I use this new feature in my new 11g database?
    (1) 11 g will automatically retrieve this omission for instance?
    (2) is the data filewrite_errors_crash_instance = true REALLY similar to SHUTDOWN ABORT? If so, I'm right in saying that Instance in GR 11, 2 recovery happen automatically when an administrator attempts to open a database that was previously closed inconsistently? (Oracle 11g documentation)

Now I'd like to hear your opinions and comments, and would be grateful if there is another Oracle Documentation that explains more how instance of write_errors_crash_instance and 11 g datafilerecovery walk hand in hand...

Thank you guys for taking the time to reply to this thread!

And what is the purpose of this new feature?

It's a security thing. Rather than leave your Dungeon of database on execution when something serious happens as not not be able to write in a data file (and therefore eventually end up corrupting stuff more and more over time), Oracle will end the instance to limit the damage.

    Hello

There is no "grid Infrastructure 11gR 3 Enterprise edition and Standard Edition", is the only Infrastructure of grid 11 GR 2.

On the Oracle Clusterware licenses (grid Infrastructure).
At least one of the servers in the cluster is allowed for the Oracle database (SE1, SE or EE)
A cluster is defined to include all machines that share the same Oracle Cluster Registry (OCR) and the drive to vote.

  • Exerted on the free Oracle OLAP features with Oracle 11 g EE?

    Hello

Exerted on the free Oracle OLAP features with Oracle 11 g EE?

    Information found on the Internet:

-Oracle Corporation markets the Oracle database OLAP Option optional additional costs to complete the "Enterprise Edition" of its database.
-Oracle OLAP database is it preinstalled with the rest of the Oracle database ERA. You just need her license for use on the Machine of DB when you choose to use it.
-Oracle OLAP is a multidimensional analytical engine world class integrated into the Oracle 11 g database.

Please confirm if I can try some OLAP features in my office where I have Oracle 11 g what EE installed as asked me to do an initial POC?

    Kind regards
    Sudhir

    Hello

I think that the OLAP license is covered by the OTN Developer License - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/testcontent/standard-license-088383.html

You should contact your representative local Oracle sales if you are still not sure

    Thank you

  • Installing Oracle on Unix and Linux

    Hi guys

I think that this is my first post here.

I do research on virtualization in distributed systems. What I do is to have:

    Win 7 > home
6 OS on VirtualBox and VMWare which will be UNIX, Ubuntu Linux, OpenSUSE Linux and WinXP
An Oracle database on the host of Win7 and another database Oracle on one of the Linux operating system.
Win7 host will have a full Oracle installation while the virtual OS will have Oracle customers.

I can't find where to download that can be used for Unix and Linux installation of Oracle files.
    I found this http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html
but after downloading the files from Unix and Linux client, I can't use them to install.
And why is Oracle give these for free? Are these assessment development or student licensed?

    Thank you.

    Thanks for the responses guys.

Ed, among virtual Linux operating systems will have a database.

I read the documentation of the Linux client and it is a long process. I was hoping there would be something more simple as simply run an exe file as in Windows. I have download a .deb for 10g package sometimes back and who acted as an exe on Windows. Don't no what website I downloaded only from and if they have the 11g now.

Well, let's do the long process!

This is the canonical trial. And its work :)

  • Why a sql statement has become slow after upgrade to 11g database

    Hello

My previous version of the database is 9I and any sql statement are well-developed.
but after upgrading to 11g database, a sql statement become slowly.

My senior dba friend told me there are a few different calculating methods from 9i to 11g.
is any body can explain this different methods from 9i to 11g, and what should be attention to calculate at what level 9i to 11g. I thank.

    Sean

The administrator of yours is correct. What he meant, 9i, the works of the optimizer with different formulas and 11 g, there are different formulas. PS this sometimes causes when you upgrade from 9i (or even 10g too), analyze the queries that worked with RBO in 9i perfectly and used indexes, all of a sudden they stop using it because the CBO think not that this is a good choice. It would be too difficult to put formulas here by anyone, but what I can say is that to buy a book.
    http://www.Amazon.com/cost-based-Oracle-fundamentals-experts-voice/DP/1590596366

And practice on 9i, 10g and 11g. It would say a lot of formulas used by oracle.

  • Are global temporary tables, a standard feature of Oracle?

I apologize for introducing me to this community with what must seem like a very stupid question...

I am a software developer, working on a product that uses Oracle as its database, specifically Oracle 11 g Enterprise Edition. Recently, I solved a problem of performance by converting an ordinary table into a global temporary table. Before my boss allows me to put this change in the product, it wants to be sure that global temporary tables are a standard part of Oracle, not something that the customer must install separately or pay extra for. (This is the first time that we never used them in our product, so I think that most of the team are not familiar with them).

I know that Oracle has had global temporary tables since the last millennium, so if ever, they have been a feature of the premium, they are unlikely to be now, but the boss wants me to get independent confirmation of this.

    Thank you.

    Steve Pemberton

Here you can see "feature availability by Edition":

    http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E11882_01/license.112/e47877/editions.htm#DBLIC116

TWG tables is not even mentioned, which means that they do not belong to the functional components are paid separately.

One caveat - if you have an application that uses connection pooling, it is recommended to use ON COMMIT DELETE ROWS, not ON COMMIT PRESERVE ROWS

(or always use explicitly "DELETE gtt_table" at the beginning), because otherwise a user of the application can display the data TWG who has previously made a second user of the application.

    Kind regards
