Upgrade database Oracle 10 g to 11g use Datapump

Hi all

I'm planning our oracle 10g to 11g database use datapump in windows environment. I used developer sql to perform the upgrade in a TEST environment, I took any export DB 10 g and I then imported into DB 11 g. but I faced a lot of error during the import. So, I have attached the log file and I wait your help.

  • using datapump, transportable tablespaces with the same name

I am trying to export some CLOB data in a database of a warehouse of data using datapump and transportable tablespaces option.
My problem is that two databases have the same name of tablespace (USERS) and data file names (users01.dbf).
A previous post, I learned about the 'remap_tablespace = old_tablespace:new_tablespace' option that would seem to allow me to get around this, but I don't know what is happening with the data files as the data file name already exists.
If there is another option say with impdp that I could use to tell him to use a different data file name, or do I just rename the data files used by the tablespace to advance source databases.

You must first create the schema. When tables and indexes created using impdp, they will be created in the right tablespaces. The default tablespace for schemas is overridden because the create table statement specifies the storage space.

    create table foo... tablespace orig_tbs1

If you add the remap_tablespace = orig_tbs1:new_tbs1 then

    create table foo... tablespace new_tbs1

If you want to restore the default tablespace after execution of the impdp work, I guess you should be able to do it with an alter statement.

  • upgrade of oracle 8.1.7.0 to 11g database

    I have a database Oracle 8.1.7.0 I want export to Oracle Database 11 c
What is the method et le steps that need to be follow-up to do the job while maintaining the database is safe et effective
I am also in the process of collection these rules in a single database, which is the method of collection, while retaining the features of each basis and users of the database
    Thank you very much

Since you go 8i to 11g, your only option is import/export.

I hope that you have a test environment, where you can test your upgrade and confirm that everything is ok.

  • Upgrade of database Oracle 11 g (Host_Command issues)

Sorry that I am once again posting this. Original message in database - upgrade. I don't get a lot of clicks in this category

We have recently upgraded to Oracle 11 g (Oracle Database 11 g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.2.0 - 64 bit Production). Our version of PL/SQL: PL/SQL Release (11.2.0.2.0 - Production). We use many commands to the host inside our PL/SQL stored procedure. One of them included extraction of data from an external server and pushing data into the Oracle Tables.

Most of this process works well, except that execution never ends. There is no data of wise question. It of just that the Host_command does not receive the completion status and seems to work even if nothing happening in the background.

The Oracle eBusiness suite this stored procedure-based simultaneous program was never completed, but it does nothing in the background. To end testing, our DBA uses 2 insert statements before and after the host_command. The insert before the host_command worked but not the one after. Help, please! What happens when we upgraded to 11g 3 weeks ago!

    Thanks, Naveen Gagadam.

PL don't post duplicates - update to 11g, host, stored inside Proc command does not end.

I moved your double post on the forums of the EBS

Please read the documentation of the requirement for Oracle APEX 5. Ensure that your environment meets these requirements. Upgrade your oracle database or other software if necessary components and then you can go right 4.1/4.2 to 5.0 update according to the above-discussed upgrade strategies in the above discussions.

    Reference: https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E59726_01/install.50/e39144/pre_require.htm#HTMIG376

You should go for upgrade of the Oracle APEX of 4.1 to 5.x. Regression test your applications to remove if any errors introduced by upgrade. The kickoff of a new project to migrate your applications to universal theme.

  • calculate disk space total used by databases oracle across the company

    Hello

If we want to know the number of instances, the number of RAC databases and disk space around total used by oracle (not the size of file system),

    1. any script can be run to grid control OEM against all instances/databases?

    or

    2. we have a unix server that has the entire databases tnsnames, any script that we can run from there?

    Thank you very much!!

This is not a difficult task.

    What OEM version you have?

    (i) connection in OEM

    (2) create a Group and add all of the databases in this group

    3) go to the "Reports" section in OEM and GO to 'Oracle database space use (group)'

    4) click on this link

    (5) select the group that you created in the previous step and see the report.

    (6) it will show you the TOTAL space, space allocated and free space of all databases in the group together.

  • Any specific disadvantage of using DataPump for upgrade?

    Hello

    Here is my config

    SERVER A

    Source o/s: Win 2003

    Source DB: 10.2.0.4 (32 bit)

    DB size: 100 GB

    SERVER B

    Target operating system: Win 2008 R2 sp1

    Target DB: 11.2.0.3 (64-bit)

I have to upgrade 10g database on server A, installing 11 g on ServerB. I haven't used assistant upgrade database or RMAN or similar utility to make a 10g upgrade to 11g at any time in the past.

    Here's my question...

    (a) I was intending to use datapump to perform this upgrade (downtime is not a problem), because I know how to use datapump, do guys see any potential problems with this approach? OR

    (b) based on your exp do you suggest I should avoid option (a) because of potential problems and use other methods than oracle suggested as upgrade wizards, etc.

I'm open to these two options, it's just that, as I'm not an expert at this point of time, I hesitated a little bit to go with option (b)

DB is believed to suffer from 32 to 64-bit. Not sure if that would be a deal breaker.

Note: The upgrade is supposed to happen on the 2nd Server. Can someone provide high level title pointer markets.

If the downtime is not a problem, datapump is certainly an option. How big if the database? The steps are documented

  • Upgrade of Oracle DB RAC/Clusterware 11.1.0.6 for 11.1.0.7

We currently have an installed Oracle and 11.1.0.6 with Clusterware running 11.1.06 and we have been informed by one of our suppliers to perform an upgrade for 11.1.0.7. I had a few questions regarding the upgrade process because I do not found the answers in reading me on the site.

    1. in the read me section it is this statement «The Oracle Clusterware software must be at the same or more recent than the software Oracle Oracle RAC Oracle home or home ASM.» Therefore, you should always pass Oracle Clusterware before you upgrade Oracle RAC or Oracle ASM. This patch does not allow to upgrade Oracle RAC or ASM Oracle before you upgrade of Oracle Clusterware. »

When I did the installation I downloaded 11g Release 1 and Clusterware 11 g release 1. Now, I know that the patch is for 11.1.0.7 database, this means that it is an inclusive to Clusterware? I tried to search in metalink in the "Fixes and upgrades" section for an 11.1.0.7 upgrade for RAC, but did not find anything.

    2. I plan to do this update on Saturday, while we have minimal connectivity. Can I still upgrade spread from the DSO even if we will have little to no connectivity?

    3. can I just use the dbca utility to upgrade the database or is it better to manually update each individual database, because I am running Clusterware.

I apologize if these questions are generic, but I wanted to just make sure that I understand very well what I'll do.

If I understood your question correctly then yes it's true that the clusterware version must be at the level even of the Oracle RDBMS / ASM houses in this cluster. The same group of fixes is applicable for Clusterware, ASM, and RDBMS and YES will modernize the binary relevant according to your selection of ORACLE_HOME, while applying to this group of patches using YES. It's the beauty of Oracle RAC that it allows you to perform the upgrade of the Clusterware and ASM then why not use it because it allows to avoid downtime. In your case if you can afford downtime, then it must be your choice to not use it. I recommend using dbua upgrade the database because he takes care of everything that is necessary to upgrade the database.

  • Decommissioning of enterprise database Oracle 11 g in Standard Oracle 11 g with respect to licensing?

    Hello

I was wondering if we can get off our 11g EE licenses licenses SE g 11, considering has focused on making licenses and provided RAC (Real Application Cluster) free option for clusters with up to 4 outlets.

This question is purely in terms of licensing of database Oracle.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Yes that's the problem in EE rac is an additional option instead of CARS data use guardto DR solution.SE and EE are two different products and I know licenses are not exchangeable

  • A full import by using datapump will overwrite the target database data dictionary?

    Hello

I have a 11G with 127 GB database. I did a full export using expdp as a user of the system. I'll import the created dump file (which is 33 GB) on the basis of data from 12 c target.

When I do the full import on the 12 c database data dictionary is updated with new data. But as is it already contained data dictionary? It will also change?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

In addition to the responses of the other comrades

To start, you need to know some basic things:

The dictionary database tables are owned by SYS and must of these tables is created when the database is created.

Thus, in the different versions of database Oracle there could be less or more data dictionary tables of different structure database,.

so if this SYSTEM base tables are exported and imported between different versions of oracle, could damage the features of database

because the tables do not correspond with the version of database.

    See the Ref:

SYS, owner of the data dictionary

Database Oracle SYS user is owner of all the base tables and a view of the data available to the user dictionary. No Oracle database user should never change (UPDATE, DELETE, or INSERT) ranks or schema objects contained in the SYS schema, because this activity can compromise the integrity of the data. Security administrator must keep strict control of this central account.

    Source: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28318/datadict.htm

Prosecutor, the utilities for export cannot export the dictionary SYS base tables and is marked

as a note in the documentation:

    Data Pump export Modes

    Note:

Several patterns of system cannot be exported because they are not user patterns; they contain metadata and data managed by Oracle. Examples of system schemas that are not exported MDSYS SYS and ORDSYS.

    Source: https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e22490/dp_export.htm#SUTIL826

That's why import cannot modify/alter/drop/create dictionary database tables. If you can not export, so you can not import.

Import just to add new Non - SYS objects/data in the database, therefore new data are added to the dictionary base tables (as new users, new tables, code pl/sql etc).

I hope that this might answer your question.

    Kind regards

  • User removed after the upgrade to Oracle 12 c

    Hello

Recently, I tried to update my database to Oracle Database 11 g Release 2 (11.2.0.4 and 11.2.0.3). After completing the "database upgrade Assistant" running, I discovered that the user logged on to my diet has been removed and I can not access the system.

During the upgrade of the "Upgrade database Wizard" process I couldn't remember see all which implies that the use could be deleted, pouvez please let me know what could I have possibly missed?

Notice that I can have full access to the user sys and system.

    Thanks in advance.

The upgrade doesn't drop not all database users.

I guess you mean the database user (account) - as visible in DBA_USERS.

Don't have you list the user names in DBA_USERS?

What is the error you get when you try to connect?  Distinction case password would result by "ORA-01017: name of user and password invalid; logon denied error message", simply because the failure of the validation of password (even if the user exists in the database)

  • Database Oracle from Windows to Linux migration

    Hey guys,.

I'm database oracle 11g R2 in Windows 7 migration to Red hat 5 (64-bit) Linux using RMAN by transport.sql file. I installed Oracle 11 g R2 on the two system.

But the problem is that my data files are scattered in different locations (I mean that all are not in the same directory) and I did not have enough space to all copy in the same directory. Can someone tell me how I'm supposed to write several locations as value the NAME of FILE DB CONVERT parameter when creating transport using RMAN script, I know the command for a directory only.

RMAN > Convert the new database database linuxdb

    script of transport for "C:\test\transport.sql."

    db_file_name_convert 'C:\oracle\oradata\orcl\' "C:\test".

    the platform "Linux IA < 32 bit >";

This command allows to convert all the files in the database that resides in the orcl directory and place them in the test directory. But in my case, all the files are not in the directory orcl

and I can't copy other files in there because I don't have enough space on the entire system.

I can't create transport script several times because it is incorrect.

I appreciate your thoughts and suggestions.

You can specify as many pairs of directories as needed

    db_file_name_convert = ('/ u01/ora/files ' ' / u02/ora/files ' ' / u01/ora/file9 ' ' / u02/ora/file9 ')
