figures with captions

I am trying to create a document where I have figures and captions under the numbers and would like the body of the text to fill the space around the figures.  My body text is double columns and figures and captions on the two columns.  I simply insert figures and legends in the body of the text, the figure is at some point and immediately follows the legend.  The problem is that I have a lot of numbers, and I end up getting a large number of empty sections, because the program has decided that a new page is needed to adapt to the figure before the previous page fills up with text.  I tried to change the position of the anchor of the frame anchored to the 'top of the column,"that helps the issue of space, but the legend is more then connects to it.  Any ideas how to make this work?  Looks like a common thing to want to do.  Thanks in advance!

You can place a block of text in the image embedded with your picture and allows to keep your figure of legend. Then, try to set the frame anchored to "Float" (or top or bottom of column) to maximize your space.

I have a large collection of big slideshows in iPhoto, created over the years with captions from the titles of the photos. How can I keep these slide shows subtitled in Photos?

You can't keep slideshows as captioned photos.  Slide shows get migrated in the form of albums for the Group of photos is maintained.  But Photos don't have the ability to add descriptions to the slide show so that they would have to be manually added to each slide automatically.

However, a possible solution would be to export every slide show in iPhoto as a Quicktime movie file. Which will keep the titles and descriptions on each slide.  The resulting QT files can be imported into the iPhoto library before migration or photo library after.

Can you import a Camtasia (MP4) video released and change with captions in Captivate?

You can import video as any another video, but you will not be able to change the video itself. If you want to do this, create a video demo and use the demo in Captivate video editor, which allows you to add and synchronize animations and static objects.

  • How do you export a video with captioning for Brightcove?

    Hello...

I try to export videos with captioning specifically for Brightcove and can not get the closed captioning to appear in the player.  Can anyone help?

If the legends are exported or incorporated into Premiere Pro and they decode and play correctly re-imported in the BODY and other players like QuickTime, you'll want to talk to someone at the wire with Brightcove, if the subtitles are not displayed in their player.

  • Image with caption

How it is possible to keep the image with caption in one page for ePub #iBooks in all screen sizes? I work with @InDesign CC

    Hello

In order to keep the image with legend in a single page, you can combine them, but you must rasterize the group as elements in the group don't keep their relative positions in the EPUB in InDesign CC group can be rasterized by selecting and choosing the option Custom rasterization of Options of Export Object dialog box. This problem is fixed in InDesign CC updated 9.2. There is no need to rasterize group here and the text will also remain under tension.

Please let me know if there are other queries. I'd be happy to help you.

    Kind regards

  • Help to the implementation of individual thumbnails with captions

I wonder how would be the best way to set up multiple individual thumbnails (in dreamweaver) that open to a bigger picture and with a caption. If they are set up this site:

    www.maplecreeknursery.com

Maybe there's a widget for this?

I see a lot of ways to make the photos with captions, but not much of one as in the above site...

    That would be fine.

  • Embedded captivate SWF to create video slideshow with captions?

    Hello

I'm pretty new to Captivate and is currently working with 5.5 on a Mac.  I've maybe upgrading to 6.0 soon, so let me know if that will solve the little challenge I'll have with video subtitling.

I'm working on a project that will have a variety of content, including a lot of video.  I need to provide the captioning encoded video and figured out how to do this by placing the video "on stage" on the slide and have the bar of the reader of the skin with the cc.  The problem is that I want the bar of the player on the video slide show, then Player skin showing on all slides bar isn't an option.

I can also bring in the video as an object, and then it comes already wrapped in the default Halo player with other drive options.  But for the life of me I can't understand how to add captions (or a cc button) to that player. I missed something?

I came with the solution is to make each video in a single slide in captivate, that publish a swf file, and then translate the and place them on appropriate slides.  This way they can have captions and their own bar of the player, but I have other informational slides, quizzes, etc., without the bar.  I did a test of that and the only issue I found was that, when published the main project, the captivate zip file should automatically include the flv file.  This seems pretty easy to solve if I just unzip, add the flv file in the folder and re-zipper.

As I said, it seems to be a solution.  But this project is intended for a LMS where the tech folk have already warned me that they have never have the SCORM implementation in a piece of leave the shelf reliable software.  And since I'm new to this, I want to make sure I'm not in a way that will give me problems on the road.  For reference, I have to pass on the results of the quizing, but we need to monitor the realization.

In any case, am I missing something and should not have to use a work around in the first place?  Or is there a better way to do it?  Can I use a capioning place to do captions and give back me a bunch of swf (palyer with the video and the subtitles already built in) but I don't know which would be different from what I am attemption.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

There is another variable that controls the CC (sorry to forget!). It is cpCmndCC and works in the same way. Updated 0 mask legends, assigning 1 shows them.

To combine them, I would create two shares of standard tip (not sure why Shekhar went with conditional). An action that affects cpCmndCC and cpCmndShowPlaybar both with 1 for the slide show video and an action that affects cpCmndCC and cpCmndShowPlaybar both with 0 for other slides. Then just run the Action appropriate, advanced, entering each slide.

Personally, I warn against use by leaving. As often pointed out Lilybiri, the execution of an action at the exit of a slide can be risky, since you have reach the last image so he could run. If the user can navigate away from the slide before arriving at the end of the game, or if there is a pause before the end which climbs to another slide, the action will not run and the bar reading/subtitles remain visible.

  • Help with captions, in slide shows

I am struggling with trying to figure out how to customize the size and the location of the legend boxes within each image in a slide show. It seems that, once an initial caption box has been set in the first image, it appears in images to the same location and size, with no way to control them individually. I forgot something? Is there a way to customize the size and location of all the legends in a slide show? Your help/advice would be greatly appreciated.  ~ Thank you

MCO, I had the same question and it has helped me:

Thumbnail with release of the slide show:

    1. go to slide show options and check the thumbnail option. (Doing so the tiles will become visible)

    2. follow the same steps given under "Slideshow with thumbnail" updated legends

    3. once the captions are up to date, go to slide show options and disable thumbnails.

(If your slideshow thumbnails, just use to select individual screens, where you can change your captions)

  • How can I set up a list of the Figures with the extra text?

I am writing my thesis Art History, which includes a large group of figures at the end.  My Counsellor asked that I caption images, but also provide a list of Figures before starting the actual pictures.  I got this far - I use the Table of contents feature for automatically numbered captions and then back up the text of the legend to the list of Figures.

Here's the rub: I need to include information on where I got the pictures I use attribution, but only in the list of figures.  My Adviser has specifically requested that I don't include this information in the captions as he felt that it cluttering up the images.  How can I include small amounts of text (for example "after Jones 1987, Fig. 22") for hundreds of images in the list of Figures without putting this info in the legends themselves?

Of course, just by typing the information in the list Figures does not - as soon as the list is updated the extra text is deleted.  I've been playing with the hidden layers, but when I create a new layer mask with blocks of text, the numbering of the original layer is disrupted.  Any ideas on how to keep numbers and include additional information in the list of Figures without adding it to the visible caption? I would be very grateful for any help.

Maybe at the end of your legend, in a [None] color text, 0.1 pt size? Do not put in a separate paragraph, because you have to pick this up as well for your table of contents. To change this little invisible text, you can use the story editor.

(And I'm far enough, which suggests making it conditional text, that you would normally hide, have it show only when you generated the list of Figures, before some awake dormant brain cells and required attention.)

"Course it would work - you would get the extra text in your list, and if you hide conditional text once again, your document is reversed 'normal' State." However, what makes the conditional text visible can cause your text reformattingand so your regular content would be nice but the list of Figures - generated with more text in your document! -could be shifted a few pages...)

  • How is it that Turner Classic Movies (home cable TV) come with captioning, but whenever the same movies are available online (e.g., YouTube), the cc is not always available?

    ONLINE CAPTIONING

Please explain how is it that about 90 percent of Turner Classic Movies (home cable TV) come with closed captioning, but whenever the same movies are available online (e.g., YouTube), the cc is still unavailable?  Then, of course, there is the possibility of using the Google auto-transcription, which is a sequence of words scrambled for the most part, although I appreciate Google constantly trying to improve the technology on the Internet...  Does anyone know a website of classic movies where appropriate captioning is available?

    Thank you very much.

  • List of files that are customized with captions and tags

Greetings.  I'm scanning old negs, enter LR CC scan data and adding tags and captions.  I'm also assembling prints in albums.  I would like to create a list of all file numbers in each album of paper with their associated tags and/or legends of LR and then add the list printed at the beginning of the album.  For example, if I make an album of images selected from 2003 and that my system of grading system is year-roll #-image #, I would like to print a list with entries such as

2003 15-25 [file number] Lake Tahoe, water-skiing, Diane, holiday [tags] jump more [legend]

2003 15-26 [file number] spectacular Lake Tahoe, water-skiing, Dad, holiday [tags] fall [legend]

This would allow me to add the printout containing all the identification data for each impression at the beginning of each photo album without writing all the data on the back of each of them.  Just what I need to do is print the label with the file number and refer to the list; I and others, would not need to open LR to retrieve the identification data.

Is this possible without copy and paste all the data manually?  Thank you.
