File comparison

Am looking for the program that will make the comparison of files under Vista 32 bit.

MS offers one that will work under XP
http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx/KB/159214

but I have trouble finding a similar one for Vista.

I use WinMerge
http://WinMerge.org/

He has a real feel of Windows 3.1, but it works very well.

  • Is Windows 7 provides a file comparison utility?

Earlier versions of Windows provided 'WinDiff.Exe' as a crude but effective instrument.  I can't find it in Windows 7 Ultimate.  Has it been replaced by something else?

Note: the version copied from a XP Pro system seems to work in Windows 7.

    Hi DrumMemory,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site.

There is no file comparison utility built into Windows 7. However, WinDiff.Exe that was designed for an earlier version of the operating system can be used without any problems on Windows 7.

Just in case you need detailed information, the article below explains how to use the Windiff.exe utility.

  • File comparison works do not (DW2015.1)

This feature still does not work for me (DW2015.1).

No problem to find and select the Filemerge (/ usr/bin/opendiff). However nothing opens when you select a feature to compare files.

No problem (using TextWrangler rather) by selecting twdiff once I installed and went into account he was not in the folder specified in the Adobe help pages. It is in/usr/local/bin /. This is an alias/link to the file path /Applications/TextWrangler.app/Contents/Helpers/twdiff has been selected. However using the DW compare commands opens the TextWrangler application with no file selected.

It is a very important time saver/comfort when working. Looks like the file paths are not adequately communicated to the app to compare. Can someone solve this problem. He works for other users?

You're right, got tired waiting for a response from back in Oct so I opened a new thread who answered and solved for FileMerge Adobe support. Now TW also works.

  • Comparison of files and folders based contained or binary, synchronization or merge

My laptop hard drive died six months ago. I was able to restore some of my data from an old backup to a new drive. Recently, through the invasive recovery, I was able to recover the data structure and the file original on the old disk. Of course, the problem is that over the last six months, that the data on my laptop has changed a bit... new files, old files renamed, reorganized file structure.

So my question is, what is the best tool of Windows (XP) to synchronize/compare/merge the recovered data with my current data as a single operation?

File comparison tools that I have sought seem to be designed to compare only files between two directories and compare based on file name, size and date as opposed to the content of the file. I have files that may have the same content, but are now in new places or have new names from file, date/time, stamps, etc.

File synchronization tools seem to be designed to continuously keep two directories synchronized and assume that the directory structure must be mirrored between the two locations of synchronization. I only need a single synchronization, and now, the directory structure is different.

Essentially, I want to be able to compare all below a specified directory (for example, \My Documents) based on the content, level and ignore the name or location of the file. For in the game of recovered files that do not exist in all, I would like to be able to specify where in the Active Directory structure they must be registered. For files with identical content (but not necessarily the same location) between the two sets of data, I would like to keep in their current location in the current data set. And of course, any new data in the current data set should be retained.

It is now discontinued, but I like Duplicate File Finder by Rashid Hoda, I think it is one of the best out there.  It's a small utility and it's very fast!  I prefer the 1.0.2.8 old version, but it becomes hard to find.   The last version was 1.1.0.3, available here: http://www.freeware-guide.com/dir/util/cleanup/DuplicateFileFinder.html

WinMerge and FolderMatch are useful for work at the folder level, helps to synchronize files, the two great utilities.

If you work with JPEG, you can find jStrip useful for stripping Exif and other unnecessary data in your files, it is up to you to decide if you need this additional data, but it is easier to find duplicate JPEG files when they are stripped of their parasitic data.

  • GPIB file transfer

I have an Agilent E5052A that use Windows 2000, and I'm saving the screenshot in the c: local in scope. When I try to copy this image in my PC (via GPIB) the file passes through without problem but I can't open the file, please see the attached files Original.png and Test.png.

I use ReadToFile.vi Visa to transfer files. I already tried with straight 'Visa read' and "GPIB read" vi and get the same results.

I compared the two files using a file comparison program, in text mode looks like equal to or similar (except for the beginning and end), but if compare two files in binary files, am I gatting of many differences.

    any body have any idea?

    Hi lmontoya,

    There are two problems:

-first of all, you have 8 extra bytes at the beginning, some counter or the length of the file or similar...

-then (almost) all end of LIFE characters are replaced by the 0x0D0A, what happens when you do not set a correct transmission or file in save mode. Need a transmission "binary" instead of the transmission of the text (with the inherent EOL conversion). Probably you have used 'Save the text file' with enabled EOL conversion... Please attach your VI to identify the section of your code problem...

  • Compare files Dreamweaver CS6

Someone was able to get the functionality compare the file in Dreamweaver CS6 work in Mountain Lion?

    BeyondCompare is Windows only.

On a Mac, install TextWrangler (without barebones.com) and make sure you install it with the utilities. You can then set the path to the file comparison utility to/usr/local/bin/twdiff.

I just tested it on Mountain Lion, and it works.

  • I see if the file is synchronized...

    Hello

as star - indicates if a file was saved again after editing

    http://files.2he.com/uploads2/2012-11-25--11-14-01.jpg

I wonder if there is an indicator also good for if the file is synchronized with the server. The page is often too heavy to run a sync command (takes a lot of time), and it would be more intuitive and fat so I could see in the tabs if the files are synchronized on the server after the change. So, I know that open files I need to synchronize, without performing a synchronization of your time for the whole of the site.

    Kind regards

    Frank

No, it isn't. It would be useful, but I find ability that Dreamweaver to keep accurate records of what is being very unreliable, especially when the clocks change twice a year.

You can view individual files using the file compare feature (see http://help.adobe.com/en_US/dreamweaver/cs/using/WSc78c5058ca073340dcda9110b1f693f21-7edda .html). It is to install a third-party files, such as WinMerge or TextWrangler comparison tool (a free Mac text editor with a file comparison utility built in). In addition, it limited to a single file at a time, but it can be useful.

  • Error opening JPG with photodraw

This question relates to a question regarding opening JPG files using PhotoDraw 2000 V2.

Late November 2010 Photodraw started error when opening NEW (e.g. just downloaded camera).  The error said that the file could not be opened because it was damaged.

The configuration of the machine is:

    Hardware: Dell XPS 420

Windows Vista Home Premium, Service Pack 2 - current with all the patches update at the time of this message.  (Windows live essentials had been installed and deleted later in this issue)

    Office 2003 Professional

Photoshop CS and Photoshop elements 7

    PhotoDraw 2000 V2

    BACKGROUND:

This computer has fonctionnee Photodraw and Adobe's products perfectly since the machine was purchased in 2008.  There is absolutely no problem with the opening of all the types of files supported in Photodraw.  My wife uses almost exclusively the Photodraw while I use adobe products.

In late November, she noticed that she could no longer open all new JPG files in its library.  Former (before November 2010) still open fine.  Whenever she tried to open one of the newer than this PhotoDraw files an error indicating that the file was corrrupt and cannot be opened.  These same JPGs may be opened in Adobe products, as well as in Picture Manager and several other photo editing software.  Examination of the content of the files using XnView and a hex editor revealed no corruption in files.  This led me to believe there is a software problem that was the result of an update.  Note that additions of software on this computer are fairly closely controlled with the exception of the MS Update that runs automatically.  Windows Live Essentials has been installed around this same time.

    RESOLUTION

After several hours of very tedious file comparisons, I determined that the files JPEGIM32. FLT and GIFIM32. FLT both had respectively of 228 and 173 KB file sizes and timestamps of 26/07/2010.  I suspect that the new files are a component of Windows live.  I've renamed the two most recent files (located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Grphflt). FLT_OLD and copied the original from a CD of Photodraw files to this directory.

PhotoDraw now returns to its full functionality... and especially my wife now has his favorite application to return.

Editorial comment: it's a shame that Microsoft has discontinued this product because there is little that exists, which can be compared to its simplicity and intuitive functionality.

    QUESTIONS RELATING TO THE:

    1. can you please confirm the source of the most recent filter files so that I can ensure the functionality of another application has not been disrupted (I have not found anything yet)?

    2. what has changed in more recent files?  The size of the files of the new filters is smaller and there has been some changes in functionality.

    Thank you

    Darryl

Darryl_B... Recently, I had this problem with Photodraw 2000 V2 on my XP Pro laptop.  I was very happy to find this thread and the simple solution to the problem.  I have no idea how my fliter file has changed.  My wife and I like some of the features of PhotoDraw.  Too bad Microsoft abandoned this product.

I installed it on Windows 7 without problem, so it looks like we carry along for several years yet.  The only problem that I had when I installed it on Windows 7 was that my disc 3 (clipart, etc.) has deteriorated and is now unusable.  We can do the installation without this, but my wife uses some of these files.  Do you know of anywhere (assuming it's legal) to get a copy of disk #3?

    Thank you RDK2

  • Dreamweaver can use multiple windows or not?

I have two .xml files, I want to see side-by-side, mainly for purposes of comparison and make it easier to enter the code from one page to another.  Is this possible in Dreamweaver?  From what I can tell, it seems Dreamweaver does not support the views of multi-window like other Adobe programs.

To view the files side by side, select window > Cascade.

There are also a useful feature in Dreamweaver that allows you to compare two files using a third-party file comparison utility. See this page for more help information.

  • TDMS & comparison of Config files

    Hello

I'm not really new to the community, because I got a lot of queries that have already been asked before, and I found an answer here, so far. I studied up on top of TDMS (file > Group > Channel) and its conceptual hierarchy seems to be very similar to the configuration files (file > Section > key). Now, I think that it is possible to use the model TDMS for both configuration files apart from measurement results, but I thought I should ask...

What are the advantages and disadvantages of TDMS Config files (*.ini) vs?

I have not found so far any form of comparison between the two. I would like to personally exempt accessibility Notepad the file of configuration as a benefit because it would be best to restrict access to the system from unauthorized users settings.

Yes, I would consider even using PDM to store key/value data because it is designed for streaming time series of data on the disk.

I think that if you want the human readable config files then INI files are the way to go - especially with some functions in the MGI toolboxes for read/write anything (for example, the clusters as sections) in an INI file.

If you want to protect the config file then I think I would probably recommend some kind of binary file format - probably something like a SQLite database like that lets you easily look up values. If you want to go further - place the file in a hidden place (for example % ProgramData %) and making a sort of reversible encryption of the file content would help protect content against unauthorized viewing/changes.

By experience, using the read/write of MGI what it functions of INI files have been the best solution, we have developed with until we decide to consider using a SQLite database. Teh that if you Exchange cluster configuration, he manages to read the fields that are present and uses the default values that you specify if they are not done it is handy when you need to change the cluster in a future version. Certainly flatten LabVIEW functions XML don't do this - if the definition of type changes then I think it returns an error.

  • Make comparisons on the files LR

Other that by assigning colors/flags/side individual photos and then filtering within each of the two folders, is there a way to have all files in two folders simultaneously show in library view, and then select a photo each to compare? And then quickly switch to another whole folder to make the same comparison with one of the two original files?

is it possible to have all files in two folders show in library view at the same time

Hold down the CTRL key when you click selected folders.

    Or-

Click on the first file, then hold SHIFT click on the last record, for a set of records.
