  There are three types of potential memory on a BB: 1) application memory, the device memory) 2 and 3) Media/SD memory card

  Application memory - it is the most important; It is protected (not available to the user), dedicated and (fixed size) space as the destination for the installation of applications (more a few storage applications, overhead and other costs). You can't touch AppMemory. You cannot improve the maximum AppMemory that your BB has. It is what it is. Applications can install only here... There is no other choice.

  The device memory - it is space on your BB you can touch these files, images, media, etc. In general, it is not very big, but it is available.

  Memory card SD/Media - is what it says... your SD card to store files, media, photos, etc.. It can be as large as your BB OS can support... see this KB:

  Finally, it is always important to correctly close applications when you are finished with them. Using the back or on the red button won't do that - those leave the app to decide what to do... and some let themselves memory-resident, consumes resources on your BB, slowing down the overall performance. Rather, to close an application, press the BBKey and select 'Farm' or 'Quit'... that forces the application to be closed, freeing for your new use the resources it consumed. Some applications will always be running (in general - BBMessenger, browser, homescreen, phone and Messages)... but, you should always close them properly - especially the browser...   Now, to your question about memory management and a reboot Batt-Pull simulated... There is indeed an application for the part... of the latter it is called QuickPull and it is available via AppWorld or directly from Steelhorn. I have the pro version and it works fine - except that he can't perform the reset if the device is locked with a password. But I can work around that.   I've had my A40-151 more than two years now, and up to last month, I got no problems at all. However, last month, it began to be very slow and took hours to initialize. I'm worried that I would lose all the data that I didn't back up, and so I bought an external drive to transfer data.

  As I was doing this, my laptop started making grinding noises, and it took up to 12 hours to transfer a single file. I got to the place, I bought it, and they said it had crashed and that it was not something they could do other than get it back - and so I lost all my data.

  When I came back, it was OK for a few hours and then started grinding again! And I think it might be something to do with the CD/DVD drive. I uninstalled the drive, and the squeaking seems to have stopped as long as the "drawer" player is open! Help, please!

  No, the squeaking is probably from the reader of CD/DVD being dry, while optical rides on squeak track passing. But the long loading is certainly a hard drive problem. Looks like a head crash. The head is more or less what locates and reads/writes data from the HARD drive.   Der process nicht auf die Datei zugreifen kann, da sie von einem other process verwendet wird. I closed all the files and tried to immunize the USB of the my computer without having to open the USB by clicking on it.
  Itried to remoe and atach the pendriveagain and even restarted the laptop, but the same error message appeared.
  Properties - 5.10 GB ref 7.89 GB, but when the USB wasopened, all files were only 2 or 3 KB of size.
  1 more problem-i tried to delete the files in quarantine but bitdefender stopped working and went off automatically.
  I copied all the files from USB to pc, they were 2.22 GB, then again, I copied them back after scannig and formatting of topendrive and it was only 1.44 GB
  BitDefender Antivirus 2013 never works and always displays the message to restart the laptop so that it can start working, but it neverstarts. But bitdefendeer 60 seconds work.

  LOL - install software Registry Cleaner to fix damaged or broken registry entries.

  More likely to worsen the situation.
