  This question was asked a few times, but no real progress seems to have been done in the past months, so I thought I would ask the question again, perhaps that someone has found a new 'thing '? :

  Location:

  -I would like to save all my (> 40 k pictures) photos currently in iCloud on an external drive.

  -I don't have enough memory space on my Mac to Park gradually through 'Photos' (i.e. download all original to my mac-function)

  -I want to directly choose a location (i.e., my external HARD drive) to store in.

  What I tried:

  -Via Safari and Chrome: connect to iCloud.com, select all images (via 'Shift' and select photo first + last) and direct downloads on the external drive.

  Problem:

  Since there are so many pictures, my Safari and my browsers Chrome "crashes" and do not complete the work (actually that they don't even start to download). If I select just say 5 pictures, it works in a jiffy.

  Do not use iCloud.com.

  Set up a library on your external drive, make the system library and download the photos, once you've done that you can keep it this way, keep as a secondary library and change the library system to another library or simply export all the photos and remove the library.

  Select the drive in the Finder and select the get info in the file menu.

  If it is the Windows NT file system format, install software such as Paragon NTFS on the computer or reformat the hard disk.

  If it's in a different format, choose Utilities in the Finder Go menu, open disk utility and use the repair disk function or first aid in this regard.

  I use three external drives to copy my files from a work of transformation. Then I delete the original work on my hard drive portable. When I need to access these files again, I usually then re - import files in lightroom and remove the external hard drive. I used this system for years without problem. Recently, I found that when I go to import files from the external hard drive, my changes are gone. .Xmp files are there and I checked to make sure that the box is checked to write the changes to the .xmp file. I narrowed down it to two possible problems. It can be a problem with the disk hard as it seems to have started when I bought two new drives (see below). I also noticed that it seems to happen to Canon. Raw CR2 files and not Nikon. Raw NEF files. If someone has had this problem or have any suggestions?

I made a new folder in the 3 TB called Lightroom, so the drive appears now inside lightroom... but when I drag the folder parent with 20000 current images to the new folder in the 3 to (inside lightroom) it says I can not move the folder with all my photos, because it contains the lightroom catalog... I opened the 1 TB drive and in the lightroom spinning with all my images is a folder of backups, do not know why this is. There are about 8 files backup in there...   Your catalog can go anywhere on any attached hard disk (not a network hard drive), but generally you'd put it on the fastest disk available, that would be your internal drive.

  So what do you have? Installed a new drive or just back to the old one? Maybe your disk is not inserted properly or the drive is may be defective.

  Check your drive with certain tools? One useful thing is the "UBCD - Ultimate Boot CD" where are many tools to check the hard disks.

  I suggest you to control your player with this CD.

  Yes, normally you can use an external hard drive in safe mode.

  Boot to safe mode and open Windows Explorer (double-click on my computer).

  You should be able to see the external hard drive, should be the letter E: or F: depending on how much other disks you have.

  You need to find the folder where your Itunes Music is maintained.

  From there its all just find the folder, copy and then navigate to your external hard drive and paste.

  You should not try to boot from the external hard drive if that's what you do.

  What kind of file is it? It is a structure of camera file? If so, you will need to copy, and the media are double. If it's just a folder from the Finder with multimedia files in it, the media splits using hard links. It appears in both places, but only use space in a folder.

• What is the component of the ONECARE file backup? Is any other automatic backup software available?

  OneCare security package included a function of automatic backup of files.  This feature is not in the latest Security Essentials package.  Is there another file automatic backup program available that would be able to interface with the files saved by OneCare?  I have no idea how to get back my backup files, or how the current backups.  My backups are on an external USB hard drive.

  You can use the Windows backup utility, or one of the many 3rd party products.

  Yes, same here. Retina MBP 13 ". And it seems only to get a set of entries for each USB drive connected. I have only USB 2.0 drives if that helps. Very annoying. And confusing. I hope that macOS is not cached the contents of USB drives.

  To migrate the iPhoto Library from a backup Time Machine pictures use Time Machine to restore the iPhoto library to a folder on your Mac. Then drag the library restored on the Photos icon in the Dock to open the iPhoto library. Photos will create a library of Photos transferred from the iPhoto library with all your changes, titles, captions, keywords, assigned albums. If you try to import the folder of masters you will only import the photos, but lose the structure of the library and all your work that you did in iPhoto.

  I just tested it and it works:

  In your excel workbook, go to the tab 'File', then 'Share', then 'Embed '.

  At the bottom of the dialog box, you will see the embed code.  What you want is the attribute "src" with the URL of the map.  Only copy this URL and use it in the web object.  See if that makes a difference.
