Lightroom, from the external difficulties to other external drives.

Well let's go. I guess that I do not understand how Lightroom 5 uses photos and a separate correctly cat. I've set up lightroom on a laptop (Macbook pro) and used 5 for about 3 years and so I 2103 2012 and 2014 inside folders. After watching a few videos, drags the parent folder in lightroom on an external drive. I took the car to my new iMac I would work from mainly, where I installed lightroom 5, connected the drive was a faff autour, don't know exactly what I did and managed to see all my photos and modifications on my iMac fine, perfect. Although the external drive is a 1 TB and I now have a 3 TB I would move it too much and use the 1 TB for backups only. I made a new folder in the 3 TB called Lightroom, so the drive appears now inside lightroom... but when I drag the folder parent with 20000 current images to the new folder in the 3 to (inside lightroom) it says I can not move the folder with all my photos, because it contains the lightroom catalog... I opened the 1 TB drive and in the lightroom spinning with all my images is a folder of backups, do not know why this is. There are about 8 files backup in there... Can someone please help explain what should I do? / what I need to do this without ruining everything! Thank you

where is my current catalog now? My only class I use. There must be on the right of 1 TB?

Your actual catalog can be found via Lightroom-> settings-> general tab catalog

No, it doesn't have to be on the 1 TB drive

I clicked on the catalog settings and clicked on 'Show' and he did to one of the folders inside this folder from backup on the 1 TB... I thought they were backups? Where would my catalog?

Your catalog can go anywhere on any attached hard disk (not a network hard drive), but generally you'd put it on the fastest disk available, that would be your internal drive.

I tried to take the record off the 1 TB named backups but then when I open lightroom it says the current catalog is missing and asks me to open a new one. So I put it in the record of 1 TB in the same place and went to the recent open lightroom catalogs and he chose, the back and everything is intact.

You'll have to move the catalog of work on this dossier file. Even if you find what seems to be the working catalog in the Backups folder, this is the catalogue of work. Move it to another place, outside of the LIghtroom folder, using your operating system and double-click it to open Lightroom.

To this folder on the Mac you copy it and what else is in this folder when copy you it.  I hope also merger is closed when you try to copy.

  • Boot from the external drive via eSATA

    Hi all
I have an external drive which I'm currently starting as a USB device.  The outside also has an eSATA port that I want to be able to boot from. However, when I go into the bios boot area to choose the boot order, there is no option to start using eSATA, USB only.  The Port of the computer's eSATA/USB port.
This is so my question, how can I get the bios boot option to be able to select an eSATA?
    Thanks for the help

From what I can find, HP didn't include the option to boot from the port eSATA on this computer.

Many others have asked about this on the HP forum.

I would check with HP support, however, since it is the BIOS that must support this function.

    Windows cannot change it.

    Thank you

You can not boot Vista from a USB key.  You can leave a disk external eSATA connected to a SATA port, if you have a.

If you do not have a SATA port or do not want to buy an external SATA drive enclosure, you can virtualize Vista system and the VHD can reside on any drive.  You can use VMWare for virtualization.  See their website for details and the software.

  • import music from the external drive to new itunes

Hello... Had to delete and reinstall all iOS on my MacBook Pro 2012. Have always worked iTunes on an external drive. All my music is and do not want it on my computer. Can not find a way to import it back in to new 12.4.0.119 Capitan 10.11.5 running iTunes. Help, please.

Do you mean OSX? iOS does not work on a computer.

Launch iTunes while holding down the option/alt key and guide it to the iTunes Library.itl file in the iTunes external hard disk folder. If all you have on the media on your external drive then the structure of your library is lost and you must start with a new library. Go to iTunes > Preferences > advanced and set to use your external hard disk's current media folder.  In a window of iTunes, then drag your media folder.

I have a very strange problem with my newly bought WRT1900AC

Oddly enough, the thinkgs still router, 2.4 GHZ WLAN works very well. But no matter what device will attempt to connect to it will tell me "unable to connect".

As soon as I unplug the USB, the router restarts (why?) and the 2.4 GHz is available again.

Note that this affects only the 2.4 GHz WLAN, not the 5 GHz or the LAN ports.

What happens here? Is there something wrong with my USB? Should we neet a special format perhaps? Or is this a known bug?

  • Import from an external drive to mobile Lightroom

OK... here a good for you.

I have a Nexto card reader memory and storage device. Which allows me to transfer my photos on my memory card for my Nexto. I have an external hard drive that connects to my Nexto then and I can copy photos

(in this case the cr2 files) from a disk external/ipad in Lightroom Mobile on my iPad?

    Hi Bob,

If your Ipad gallery displays images from the external drive, then Yes you should be able to import these images into Lightroom Mobile as well.

  • Of failure, white screen MacBook Pro HARD drive try to boot from the external HARD drive

    Hello

I have a 2008 Macbook Pro which is having some problems, I was able to fix them, but eventually the hard drive failed. I know that because at startup until it would have a white screen Uni (no logo) and you can hear a clicking on in the lower left corner. I thought initially it was a memory problem, but after opening and verification of memory, it's clearly the hard drive.

I solved this problem temporarily (until I can replace the HARD disk) by installing El captain on an external HARD disc and start from that. Here's the twist, I couldn't he can begin to El captain, I tried CMD + R, CMD + OPT + R, CMD + OPT + R + P and now shift. Everything that's happened would be that clicks would cease to release the keys.

I left the macbook on while I'm at work, when I got home it was on the screen to connect the external HARD drive.

I accidentally closed the macbook yesterday and again once when I tried to log on, I could not and I left it on a white screen while I was sleeping. There is a possibility that he may have launched from the HARD drive when I get home, but if not, is there something that escapes me to force do this?

    See you soon

Usually start up to a blank screen without the Apple Logo, may report one of the following:

    • Hardware failure
    • Boot drive is not recognized as valid and updated updated
    • OS X essential software is missing, hurt moved or renamed or corrupt
    • A firmware update is necessary

No matter who, in order to boot from an external drive "bootable", you would normally hold down the Option key until you get a screen that offers a number of devices to try to boot from.

Alternatively, you can try holding down the C key to try to boot from the external drive.

If none of these startup options work, then the bootable disc or the USB port on your MacBook Pro can be the question.

Since you have a Mac pre-2013, if you hold down the D key while booting, the built-in Apple Hardware Test should start up.  This can help to identify hardware problems.

  • New installs on Windows 8.1 and file transfer from an external drive, saved from death PC Vista machine

Hi, my old under Vista Home Premium (32 bit) desktop PC is dead and has been replaced by a new machine Windows 8.1 (64-bit).

I took the hard drive from my old PC and put it in an envelope and the files seem to be fine. I need advice on how to do the following things 4:

    (1) how to find and transfer of e-mail, including records and contacts (I used the e-mail program provided Vista on the old machine) on the new machine and I can't actually set up mail on the new machine to my ISP (BT Yahoo) first (I didn't click on the mail app yet).

    (2) how to find and transfer bookmarks/favorites of Chrome and the old disk to ie11 and/or Chrome structure on the new machine.

    (3) how do I transfer files (photos, music, documents, etc.) so that they are available for all users

    (4) I installed iTunes on the new PC, I want to transfer music files and album cover (I don't know how the album covers are found, and some are "home made" to cover the chronological collections of singles) from the old machine in the easiest way possible

Thank you for all the tips and advice.

Hi Tovoyer, I'll try to answer your questions in order.

    1. Transfer old contacts and emails in Windows Vista Mail

      • First of all, you know that Windows Vista was the latest OS to come with a desktop e-mail program.  Windows 7 and 8 do not come with any successor to the Windows Vista Mail program.  Instead, you can get it as a download in the Windows Essentials page option.  Windows 8 has a rudimentary base e-mail app, but it is designed for the Tablet/phones and the lamp.  If you want something that compares to Vista mail program, you'll want to get the free download of the essential elements in this link before you move forward.
      • After you have installed most of Windows, you can open the program (so renamed "Windows Live Mail" and add your ISP e-mail account.)  This will download depending on how your ISP provides email, all or part of your story by e-mail in the new programme, possibly negating the need to transfer anything from your old installation.
      • If you do not need to transfer your old files, navigate to the file / import Messages option in the Windows Live Mail program.  Choose "Windows Mail" in the list, and then navigate to this folder on your external hard drive attached:

        D:\Users\(your user name) \AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Local records
(replace D with the drive letter for your hard disk enclosure, of course).

      • To transfer your Contacts is even easier. The Vista mail program did not contact directly, it stores everything in this folder

        D:\Users\(your username) \Contacts

The file present in Windows 8, you can simply copy (or drag-and - drop) your contacts from the external drive on your drive of Windows 8 (C:\Users\(your name) \Contacts) and it will be flawless.

    2. Transfer of Chrome Favorites
      1. If you signed in using your Google account chrome, all of your favorites are stored in Google account, ready to be restored without effort.  Just to download Chrome again, go to the Tools menu and connect you and your bookmarks should appear.

If you do not use the Google account or had the sync disabled, you can still find your bookmarks.  After installing Chrome on your new PC, find the old bookmarks on the external hard drive file here:

        D:\Users\(your Name) \appdata\local\google\chrome\User Data\Default\Bookmarks
(Note the bookmarks is a file, not a folder, but has no file extension).

And put it in the same folder on your installation of Windows 8.

    3. Transfer of Documents and Photos/etc and put at the disposal of all users

Simply drag - move the files in the folder "Public" user on Windows 8.  These files are shared by all users.

    C:\Users\Public (\documents \pictures, \videos \music, etc...)

  • You can simply drag the folder iTunes from the old drive to the same place in the drive of new (music folder of your user account).
