file sharing using version 7 on Windows XP 32-bit.

I recently updated my Skype to 7.0.85.100 and I can't send files. just says: "this photo is unavailable" when something is sent to me or send to me. I have the last update, the other user is online, my firewall is set correctly. I want to understand why I can't send files.

Updated Windows Update recently something in XP and since the pictures then send and receive fine. I don't have no downgrade or reinstall. Don't know how this happens, but the problem was sloved. Thank you for your time, however; Nothing in this Exchange helped.

  • I want to limit the file sharing on a home network, Windows XP Pro (working group) to a specific user on a different computer.

I can't get this username entered with success because I'm limited to only users on the computer, I'm trying.  I have Windows XP off file sharing simple.  Both computers running XP Pro and I can share the folder, but it is open to ALL.  Is there a way to do this?

I would like to try to explain how it works.  You have XP Pro on Computer1 and you have disabled Simple file sharing.  It is a step in the right direction.  The facts are that the file exists on the computer 1 and is 1 computer to control what external connection gets access to this file.  Computer 1 can only validate combinations of username/password names he knows.  Is not in a domain, computer environment 1 includes only names of user and password that exists on the computer 1.  He cannot know or trust any combination of name of user and password that does not exist within itself.  The normal method, most people use is to create the same user on computer 1 that exists on the computer that connects and gives the same password that is used on the computer that connects to this user.  If this is the case, the external user connects seamlessly and have access if 1 computer gave this authorization to the user in this file.  Access can be controlled by right-clicking on the file or folder, select 'Properties' and then use the 'Security' tab to generate an access matrix.

Authentication: When connecting to the computer 1 from another computer, computer 1 search first if the username on the computer connection exists on the computer 1.  If the user name of the user on the computer connection exists on computer 1 and passwords on both computers to match, the connection is established.  If the passwords do not match, the connection is refused.  If the user name of the logged in user does not match a user on computer 1, then the 'Guest' user is attempted.  If the guest user is not protected by a, then the user will resemble the user 'Guest' and 'Guest' appropriate access.  If the guest user is disabled on Computer1, and then the computer connection displays a name of User/Login screen asking the user to provide credentials (name and password) 1 computer can use and recognize to check that the user.  If a name of user and password recognizes that computer 1 is entered, then computer 1 authenticates the user with this credential.

Of course, once authenticated, the user will have access to these files to which permissions have been granted to this user authenticated according to the KB307874.  XP cannot grant permissions to users, he knows not (obviously) beyond the 'Guest '.

Bottom line is that you have discovered in a domain environment (workgroup), you MUST authenticate as a legitimate user who is (and who is not disabled) on Computer1.

  • Going to replace my hard drive, I'm unable to use my OEM of Windows Vista 32 - bit with the new drive copy?

I plan to replace my current hard drive (which is functional, but not surprising in the first place) with a Solid State drive, which will help to my Alienware Area-51 m9750 notebook.  I find a reader fully compatible solid state, but I'm not there purchase Alienware.  I'm currently under Windows Vista Home Premium (32 bit), and I still have the recovery DVD used to reinstall the operating system.  I reformatted my hard drive several times using this disc, each time that the deletion of the whole score and starting from scratch.  Every time I did it, I'm never asked to activate my copy of windows, mysteriously turned on when I boot on my new install of Windows for the first time, without even plugging the cable Ethernet first, and my house has no wireless network.

I wonder, if/when I install a new hard drive, will have a different experience somehow in regards to Windows activation?  I'm unable to use my OEM of Windows copy at all?  Alternatively, my windows mysteriously will activate itself without ever seeing the internet as it does now?

I love installing Windows and then do not need to activate it, and I hope I have that experience when I install my new hard drive.

I just want to know what to expect in terms of my ability to use my copy of Vista OEM, and what process I have to go through to make it fully functional.

    Thank you very much!

The physical hard disk (solid state or record) is not serious for the operating system that is installed on.  As long as the drive is a standard interface and does not require special drivers not work (and most don't), you should have no problem.

The recovery disks you are using are set to read specific information about the motherboard and as long as there is this particular information, that it is looking she will be triggered and doesn't have to go online to activate as the retail of Windows is required to do.  The only problem with this type of activation, it's that if the motherboard fails ever it should be replaced with a similar brand and model or autonomous activation fails and the operating system is an OEM version that is related to this motherboard and cannot be enabled on a newer replacement.

If I bought a used computer, no matter who previously owned the
first thing I could do with it would be to reinstall the operating
system itself. You don't know how the computer has been maintained,
which has been improperly installed, what's missing, what virus and
There may be spyware, etc. I would not live with someone
other errors and problems, possibility of kiddy p0rn, etc. and I
would not recommend anyone else to do.

Your choice of course, but in my opinion, you're playing with fire if you
do not reinstall Windows properly. Even if you buy a copy.

  • Is it normal that H.264 files generated on a computer with Windows 7 64 bit not allow playback on a computer with 32-bit Windows?

I copied the raw images of a concert shot on a Sony HDR-SR11E (i.e., small domestic video camera) to my computer (Windows 7 64-bit) to a USB key. The files cannot be copied to another computer with Windows XP 32-bit. Is this normal? Is it possible to copy images into another format without losing too much quality so that it reproduces the old computer?

32 - bit should not make a difference in this case. The computer probably missing a codec or the necessary software to read the file. The camera format is AVCHD, not very exotic, but may be more recent than the media player on the PC. Try to install something like VLC player on it.

  • You can use version for VM Windows OEM license

    1. can I use OEM version for virtual machine window.

2 in case I created a new copy and removed the old how it will affect license.
    3. If I want to create a new virtual machine by throwing an old can I use same OEM license
    Thanks in advance

Yes, you can use the OEM System Builder License in a virtual machine.

In what concerns by deleting and recreating a VM, I don't know to be honest, given the virtual machine itself is considered to be a computer and to move the license to a new virtual machine would be considered in the eyes of the LICENSE as another machine.

What I suggest do you after installing Windows 7 OEM in a virtual machine and activate it, you must create a snap shot of your active install. When you are ready to throw a virtual machine just back to the snapshop so it will look like new.

  • All of the video files, pictures are not not in Windows 7 32 bit

I am facing this problem more than a month. I have not installed all the codecs-related software. In one shot, I had this problem where none of the thumbnails are visible for video files in windows Explorer. I need a solution to retrieve this question.

    Hello

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.
Open any window of Solution Explorer. Click on organize-> folder and search options. Go to the tab view, navigate to the file on the photos icon displayoption. Clear the check box and click apply and then click Ok. Now you can see the thumbnails instead of icons.
If the problem persists, answer here.
