file won't export to PDF

I create a book composed of multiple PDFs placed InDesign. When I go to export this book as a new PDF print, I received an error message that says "1 problem (1 failure) were found in the background: can't export the PDF file.  I narrowed down it to a single particular PDF in the book which seems to be the cause of the problem. However, I don't really know enough about the PDF files to determine what really is the problem. Does anyone have an idea of what can happen here or have all the other things for me to look in for additional information? Thank you!

Never mind! I don't know what was the problem, but after the printing of the file who saw the problem and re-scan it as a new file, everything has worked.

  • Gradients endangered?  Won't export to PDF format.

    Hi, I've been searching around the answers to this and cannot find something that is quite the same problem. To summarize briefly, I have a file sent to me from our headquarters that was made in InDesign and it contains a few gradients (just pointing out that the gradients are from InDesign, it's not as if it was something copied and pasted from Illustrator).  Everything seems fine, but when I export to PDF (it is a brochure to give to customers) the gradient is simply replaced by a solid color.

    I tried to play with the export to PDF settings, I tried to change the transparent color space a some other bits and bobs but in vain.

    I don't know if it makes a difference but the affected place is the master page.  that is not normally selectable unless you change the master page.  But that being said, I have copied the content and paste it into a layer normal and always had the same problem.

    Any ideas?

    I tired literally all setting options during export.  Pass by systematically for all combinations.

    But you know what?... I just accidentally discovered how to work around this problem and accordingly, that seems not really it's just a weird bug (and I've updated my InDesign where she had corrected).

    If the angle of the gradient is fixed what anyone other than 0, the gradient of the exports.

    But if it is 0 it does not export, and you get just a solid color (i.e. regardless of the left, the color is in the gradient panel).

    I tried fiddling around with it to reproduce the problem with the gradient angle set to 1 degree and had no problems what-so-ever.

  • Remove the prefix of file name when exporting to PDF

    Hello

    Here I found a script that exports the current document in PDF format on the desktop.

    I would like for it to change the file name as the first two characters are deleted.

    Example:

    The existing file name is: X_pagelayout.indd

    I want this script to create a PDF file called: pagelayout.pdf

    Thoughts?

    Your help is very appreciated.

    var = myFolder ' ~ \Desktop ";

    myDoc var = app.activeDocument;

    var myDocname = myDoc.name.split (".indd");

    myDoc.exportFile (ExportFormat.PDF_TYPE, file (new file (MyFolder + "\" + myDocname.join (".pdf")));)

    I just tried this and it works fine now...

    app.scriptPreferences.userInteractionLevel = UserInteractionLevels.NEVER_INTERACT;

    var = myFolder ' ~ \Desktop ";

    myDoc var = app.activeDocument;

    var myDocname = myDoc.name.split ("_") [1];

    var myNewName = myDocname.replace(/.indd/gi);

    myDoc.exportFile (ExportFormat.PDF_TYPE, file (new (MyFolder + "\" + myNewName + ".pdf")));

    app.scriptPreferences.userInteractionLevel = UserInteractionLevels.interactWithAll;

  • Objects in InDesign files disappear when exporting to PDF (CS5.5)

    I have a text that was created in text converted to outlines, filled and has a drop shadow applied. When I export the document to PDF, part (fill) text disappears, and all I get is the shadow. I tried to change a color non-spot, I tried to remove all attributes, and nothing seems to work! I also tried to copy this work to the Clipboard and paste them into an Illustrator file (says that it's too big to fit the editing table, which I checked sizes - and it must adapt. I tried to copy the paths and sticking them in Photoshop as a smart object... no chance either. What Miss me? Thanks in advance for any help!

    I hate to suggest it, but have you tried the PDF instead of export of distillation? It seems to me, too, as there is a problem in the file, and sometimes still work if an export will not. What happens if something do you know the history of this file?

  • 7.5.3 inDesign won't export to PDF (Mac OS 10.7.4)

    I am all updated, so everything is current. It was working yesterday; not sure why it wouldn't work today. The file is pretty simple - just text with many changes of fonts.

    It may be one of the fonts. If you can get it to export into pieces (even simple pages for those who are problems), you can combine the various pieces in Acrobat Pro.

  • How to integrate the audio in the file for the export to PDF

    Hello, I have transcribed a two hour lecture and copied in Indesign.  I would like to create a pdf with the audio of the Conference embedded in it so that when the reader clicks on a button or an audio for this particular phrase or section paragraph starts. The point is to allow ready-access audio that corresponds to the transcript. Ideally, the reader could click anywhere in the text and the audio should begin.  Anyone have any suggestions to do this kind of document? very much appreciated.

    Turn the block of text into a button and set the appropriate behavior.

  • How can I get this file exported in PDF format

    How can I get a single file magazine among many others to export to PDF?  For 12 years, we used different versions of ID to produce a magazine that is black & white, sent to the printers in PDF for offset. We kept of many originals of color photo that we had converted to grayscale.  We do visit back editions, replacement of grayscale images with color when we haave it and export of high quality Print PDF.  These are displayed on a web page for customers to download back issues.

    The May 2011 edition is exporting in PDF format, at least not with the same settings as before and after this date questions, and different export settings does nothing for the situation.  Tried .idml export and opening as a new file as suggested in the FAQ.  This is saved as a new ID file under a new name.  Still won't export to PDF, although the export of .idml went smooth as a whistle.  Have been verified links and relinked two images in grayscale which was reported in the file links.  No change.  Have replaced outdated (TT) fonts with new (OT).  No change.  We continue to work backwards in time with these conversions, and always the older files export fine after the insertion of color.  It is ID5 on a Win7 machine with lots of RAM.  This part done ID5 to a creative suite so other applications are available in the machine.  Don't have not trashed preferences, because they work with the editions before and after the trouble.  What should I do next?

    Thank you, Pierre.  Export a page both reduced the search down to a problem page, which has turned having a problem with a graph that is used in each issue.  Replacement and reissue of links that graphic design has exceeded this bump.  It was on the new copy of the file that has gone through all the other changes described previously, so I don't know if they have had no effect.  Need to return other issues rather than experiment with the original file.

  • Text moves after export to PDF

    InDesign CS5 (7.0.4), Mac OS x 10.6.8

    See the screenshots for clarity.

    From InDesign.pngFrom Acrobat.png

    On the left is my InDesign file, on the right is my created PDF file by choosing export > Adobe PDF (Print) > Adobe PDF presets: print quality with bleeding.

    It is two paragraphs in a text box. Why is the part of the first paragraph moves? It looks like a movement of the massive base was put on.

    Just try something else. I tried with different fonts, move the copy. I retyped it in a new text box, move the copy. If I do not use the dash character (the dagger), the copy don't move here (HEY, A CLUE!) So why don't the Indent here character cause the copy to move throughout this paragraph and not in the other 30 + instances of this file?

    To do this job to the printer, I copied the areas affected in a new layer and hide this layer, then in the first layer, I have only converted text in vectorised text boxes and sent them a new PDF.

    Any idea would be appreciated.

    Message was edited (spelling and new test info) by: FergyMac

    BINGO!

    This page is another area of text on it which is causing the problem. Two text boxes overlap. When I move the OTHER text box to the top layer this problem disappeared!

    Thanks Peter and Eugene for me to walk through it.

  • Export a PDF - Not, save as?

    I'm working on a file with seveal work plans. I would like to export it as a PDF from Adobe, but the only option I see is to save as. This means that it replaces the current file have I am woring on with a PDF file. It is the source of the problems. I want to make sure that all changes are MADE in the file have and exported in pdf format. but I'm confused that several times thinking I do changes to the AI - but woopsie! I did the verse the PDF because Illustrator has replaced the file have with the pdf file in the window of my work.

    It is a fair way to export a PDF file? Thank you very much!

    Save under doesn't replace any file, unless you choose the name and the location and confirm replacement. And if the command was available in the menu, export it would have been the same.

  • 6 inDesign crashes when you export a PDF file

    I get the same report of crash for days, every time I try to export a PDF in InDesign CS6. I don't know what is happening with this particular file, but can I export other files without problem. I have deleted all links .indd and .ai and does not use the new fonts that won't export in other files. I tried to export single pages and the whole document, in different resolutions, and it crashes every time. I stuck my last report of accident here: INDESIGN 6 CRASH REPORT - Pastebin.com

    Export the file to IDML and open that.

    Note also that you must patch InDesign (help > updates) and CS6 is not taken in charge at 10.11.

    Export the file to a text file, and then open the file in Word. Text files

    Hello!

    I'm just starting to get my feet wet in Javascript scripts, and I greatly enjoy!

    I am wanting to create a script that a PDF using a PDF export preset I set export and then I want to have the pdf saved in the same folder as the indesign file that was exported from. I already know how to export the pdf file using a "Preset" I already have. The only thing I do not know how to do is to indicate the pdf file to be saved in the same folder as the Indesign file that is exported from. Can someone help me please? I would be very happy!

    I would also like to find a way to automatically name have the pdf named the same name as the Indesign file, it has been exported since.

    If I need to clarify something more, feel free to let me know.

    Thank you very much!

    Try this code example

    app.scriptPreferences.version = 11.0

    myDocument var = app.activeDocument;

    var myFileName.

    If (myDocument.modified == false) {}

    myFileName = myDocument.fullName + "";

    If (myFileName.indexOf (".indd")! = - 1) {}

    var myRegularExpression = /.indd/gi;

    myFileNamePDF_Web = myFileName.replace (myRegularExpression, ".pdf");

    {with (App.pdfExportPreferences)}

    PDFJPEGQualityOptions.HIGH;

    PdfMagnificationOptions.FIT_PAGE;

    colorBitmapQuality = CompressionQuality.eightBit;

    colorBitmapSampling = Sampling.BICUBIC_DOWNSAMPLE;

    colorBitmapSamplingDPI = 300;

    myDocument.exportFile (ExportFormat.pdfType, new leader (myFileNamePDF_Web));

  • How to export a PDF file to make nonprinting objects show but don't print not AND hyperlinks on the top of the page work at the same time?

    Firstly - I work in InDesign CC 2015.

    My problem is, I had this 10 page document, which, on every page, shows an object that must be in PDF format - but do not print. I made this object into a button and unchecked "Printable". On top of this object, I made 10 hyperlinks (separate layer) that point to the page 1-10.

    When you export the document and I use the interactive PDF format , works ' show nonprinting object but do not print ' well, BUT hyperlinks don't. If I uncheck the "layer of nonprinting objects" in the file PDF, then hyperlinks work, but the problem now is that the nonprinting objects are invisible...

    When you export the document and I use a PDF to print the "unprintable object show but do not print" does not work BUT the hyperlinks don't...

    I put hyperlinks to post a link to pages and also tried the link to the anchor text. No difference.

    So my question is: How to export a PDF file to make nonprinting objects show but don't print not AND hyperlinks on the top of the page work at the same time?

    Thank you

    Mette from Denmark

    I swapped my links to the buttons - AND NOW IT WORKS; (o)
