Files and folders created in the root of C: are deleted after reboot on computers with AppStacks attached.

Users using Visual Studio had created the C:\work folder to store projects.  After the restart, whatever it is created at the root of C: had disappeared. Is this normal behavior or the result of one or more of installation contained in the C:\ root and thus managed AppStacks by AppStacks.    Is there anyway to tell that AppStack could be the cause in addition to test each individually?

Thank you

It's actually expected as the operating system behavior is essentially be virtualized when an AppStack is attached. All changes to the operating system are stored in a folder called SVROOT on the volume system (C :). This folder becomes "visible" when an AppStack is attached and therefore virtualization is enabled.

You mean that other users do not have their own user accounts?
They all connect to your own account?

If they all have their own user account to log on, they can't see your personal files, unless...
    1. your files in public folders.
    2. they have your password to login to your own account.

    So, please clarify.

  • See 5.2 management "Files and folders excluded from the roaming" Persona of the wildcards and special characters

We want to exclude the character of AppData\Roaming\test_*.doc or AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Flash #SharedObjects and we have added to the list of exclusions, but they keep ending upward in the repository. Other exclusions are working as expected. What we should expect?

If wildcards work, it would also be nice to be able to exclude AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ * \minidumps

    Hi Eric,.

Character does not currently support the use of wildcard characters in the configuration options.  For example, "AppData\Roaming\test_*.doc" and "AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ * \minidumps" will not work.  However, I myself have tested 'AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Flash #SharedObjects' with 5.2 and it works very well.  Please note that "Files and folders excluded from roaming" not delete all existing files in the remote folder.  It simply prevents the files in the remote folder to be created in the local folder during logon, and it prevents any changes in the local folder from replication to the remote folder.  This allows to turn off the setting and return the original data if you need to.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

  • Only certain files and folders appear in the homegroup

I use Win7 Pro and I have my setup homegroup to share my videos and photos.

I record TV on the same PC and access these recordings via DLNA on my Samsung TV (I have two different Samsung TVs). The PC is just an entry on TVs.

The issue I'm having is that when I sail (on TV) to the folder (on the PC) which contains files, * the * files appear in this folder, some do not. For example, currently, there are 5 files in my folder of DVR, all thanks to the homegroup (I added the domain 'Shared with' in Windows Explorer so I can easily see). Of these 5 files, only 3 appear when you browse the files on the PC of the TVs. The same 3 files appear on both PC, aren't the same 2. All 5 files have been saved by the same Application, and all have the same shared parameters.

In the past, I was able to remedy this problem by moving the files, and then back into the folder. Then they show up. Now, however, this trick does not worlk. I have run the shooter-t several times, rebooted several times etc. Nothing works anymore. I see the same thing in two TV.

If I shared the DVR record thanks to the homegroup, why only some files appear?

Anyone has an idea why I see this?

    Thank you

  • Can I recover files and folders moved to the Temp profile

    Hello

A user is logged on with a temporary profile on Vista.  They have seen their name in the start menu and assumed everything was fine.

After having seen that their office was wrong, they went check 'My Documents', and obviously they weren't there.

The user then crossed ' computer > C: > users and found their office and documents.

Then they moved them (not copied) on the desktop and "My Documents" to the active profile.

Now when they have logged off and back on, their original profile has been restored but their desktop and "My Documents" have been shortened just to the Temp profile.

Is it possible to recover data from the user? keeping in mind that there is no backup of their data.

  • Remove the lock on all files and folders...?

There has been a lot of questions on how to remove locks on folders and files on Windows 7. Those I've read on this site worked and the lock can be removed easily.

... However, you cannot do a folder/file at once. I have a lot of items on my desk, and more than half of them have these locks on them. How I removed the locks on all files and folders on my user account. There are only 2 accounts on the computer. Mine and another person. Mine is set to the administrator account, the other is just a standard user. I started by ignoring the locks for months, then I tried to get rid of them by myself, and frankly, I have no idea what I'm doing. Please, I beg you. If you know of a way, share it!

If the locks would not constitute an obstacle to operations, why bother?

And BTW, it; s no need AT ALL to run as an administrator on a daily basis in Windows 7. Forget everything THAT you have learned about XP - Win 7 is much more advanced.

You realize that the built-in Administyrator account is disabled by default, and if it is possible for him, that may be beyond what you're comfortable with?

Create another Admin account, call the Admin or Tech or similar and give it a password. Let this accouynt for the elevation of access and privilege of emergency and activate your account for daily use in a Standard user account. Your computer will be safer that way.

  • How set permissions so I have access to all files and folders on my pc?

I'm the only person using the computer, so I want to access all of the files and folders without changing the security setting in each case. How can I do this?

The folder "C:\Documents and Settings\All users" is actually a symbolic link that was created when you upgraded from an earlier version of Windows (that would be a good thing to mention in the original post). You'll find its files here:

    C:\Users\Public\Desktop
  • Re: Qosmio G - hidden files and folders is not displayed

Hi people, I have a few hidden files and folders, which I was able to access the front and I used to click on the "organize tab" display, advanced settings, display the files and folders to hide or show hidden files.

Unfortunately, there seems to be a problem, I just can't access my hidden files and folders, even when I go through this method.
someone help me please as soon as possible...

    Thank you

    Hi aaz911,

First of all, it would be nice of you if you post information on your laptop model and the operating system. This must be done always to get a detailed response.

In any case, I never heard of this problem, but make sure that all files will be displayed:
Start Windows Explorer > tools > Folder Options > view and enable the following options:
-Files and folders hidden: display the hidden files and folders
-Hide protected operating system files (this should be disabled > unbranded).

In addition you will find these missing files by using Windows search?

If this isn't the case, I suppose the files are deleted from someone or due to a virus. :(

  • Show hidden files and folders option does not

I'm trying to access a hidden folder, C:\programdata\... I can't see it in Explorer. When I go into control panel > folder options > discovers... the option box to display hidden files and folders is already selected.

I tried to change this option to not display hidden files and folders by selecting the radio button, and then clicking on apply. Then I exit the menu display. However, when I return to the menu display the radio button beside display hidden files. That is to say it is not "saved" change.

I changed other elements in the advanced example view menu Hide extensions of known file types, and it works very well.

I was not able to find this problem in the forum. Of course, I have restarted my pc. I don't know when this problem was that I don't often get this hidden folder.

I am running vista home premium 32 bit

    Thank you

  • Hidden files and folders

I have questions about the hidden files and folders. I hope someone can give me the right answer that will be only one of the four that I would ask.

    Q. hidden files or folders cannot be seen by any user?

    Q. is visible by the main user

    Q. is using by operating systems for its work

    Q. don't are not usually published directly

The answer may be only one of these options.

    Hello

By default, some files are hidden.  If some of these files are edited, moved, renamed, or deleted, you could damage your operating system. They are hidden for a reason.

    Q. hidden files or folders cannot be seen by any user?

    A. you can see hidden files if you wish. Here's how to display.

    1. Go to the start menu and type options records.
    2. Hit enter or click on the result.
    3. Go to the view tab.
    4. Under hidden files and folders, select display the drives, folders and hidden files.
    5. Optional: If you wish, you can uncheck Hide protected (recommended) operating system files.  I'd keep that checked if I were you.
    6. At the bottom, press apply or OK.

    Q. is visible by the main user

    A. If the user follows the instructions above, they can see it.  So the answer is no, everyone can see the hidden files and folders.

    Q. is using by operating systems for its work

    A. most of them is.  For example if you remove one of your hidden personal documents, the file is not critical for the operating system.  If you delete system32 (do not remove it!)however, Windows stops working immediately.

    Q. don't are not usually published directly

    A. the personal files (photos, documents, videos, etc.) can be changed.  Operating system files can not be changed.

If all goes well, which erases any misunderstanding.  Please let me know if you have any other questions.

  • Files and folders in root appear in my folder of Documents and office

It probably happens on the Windows NT-based versions (has happened to me on a XP PC and a PC in 2000 that I intend to upgrade both of them soon). The files and folders of the program directory (C :) root Windows upward in the office and the folder My Documents. These files are not shortcuts and they show that they are located in the root of the drive, even if they appear on the desktop and My Documents. They can be handled then that mirrored to the root of the drive. I dropped a simple file to the root one test while it appears on the locations and then I deleted the file of the said test from the office and he left root. They don't seem to do anything when I click on them. It is not happened to me before. Does anyone know how to fix this? Is this a bug?

That is some progress.  Normally the desktop folder works the same way, where he will have a "location" at the top of the Properties tab.  This is a feature you'll see normally special "shell folders" as this (shell being the part of the operating system that see you, or the user interface).

If it has lost its distinctive feature, you can usually restore it quickly in the registry.

    1. First of all, make sure that you have a folder that is named "Desktop" in your personal folder 'username '. You will set the registry to use this folder as storage of office location.
    2. Keep Windows Logo type R to display the run box, type REGEDIT and click OK and give permission to the administrator if necessary.
    3. Navigate through the list of files (registry keys) on the left to find this place:
      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
    4. Look for the "Desktop" entry on the right (registry value), and double-click it to change data to be:
      %UserProfile%\desktop

The %UserProfile% is a variable that is everywhere where your current profile is stored.  Administrators and power users can use it to move their entire profile without having to define all those places individually.

    5. Click OK to save it, and then close the registry editor.
    6. Lot of windows completely and reconnect of re - initialize your user profiles and folder locations. Or just restart your computer, either way :)

At this point, right click and properties of the desktop folder should now have the expected location tab (let me know if not).

If you ever want to move these places, a little advice: make sure that you have specified a folder name.  In other words, do not place your Documents to store in just the G: drive. Instead, create a folder on the target drive and don't forget in the location (such as G:\Docs).  One last thing: don't try to define both 'special' folders to be stored at the same single physical location (do not set two in the same place).

Here is a picture of this registry on Windows 10 location, but these steps are the same, all the way back to Windows 2000 (maybe sooner).

Let me know how it goes, I hope that he gets all cleared up.

Unwanted copies have file names with
    copy "prefix of"?

    Example: Copy of IMG_1455.JPG

If_yes_maybe the following tutorial, I wrote

Also... There is a link to another method
at the end of this tutorial.

Here's how to reproduce the unwanted

Hold down your CTRL key and select multiple files...

Place your pointer over the selected group
(holding the key ctrl) and left click / drag
the group even just the slightest bit... now
    release the mouse button.

    Oooops... multiple copies...

    Maybe the following will help:

Sometimes most of the person who
trying to select multiple by holding the CTRL
or the SHIFT key down while clicking on the left to select the
    image files.

Copies are created when you are unable to
completely release the mouse button before
you move the pointer to another file. When a group
the selected file is dragged... even the slightest
release the mouse button will produce a bit...
copies of all the files previously highlighted.

It's a little easier if you have your folder
Options set at single click... that way you can
select/deselect a file with just a mouse more
and you don't have to click. For multiples you
I have to keep... CTRL or Shift.

Do not click on... no slip... no copy... maybe that of

Open a folder and go... Tools / folder

If you want to delete all the files in a folder
    You can try the following:

Reach... Edition / select all... or type... CTRL / has...

With all of the files selected... go... Drop / delete...

Open the folder that the images are saved in and

Click on one of the image files and the menu...

In the research pane select... "All files and folders".

In the "All or part of the file name" field. Come in...

When the search is complete... go to... Edition / select all...
