Find Mac address duplicated on VC
Hello:
I wonder how I can check for Mac address duplicated on the virtual machines under VC.
Basically, I want to run the script that will tell me if there are any duplicate Mac addresses exist.
I know how to find mac on VM (I use $vmMAC = $vm |) Get-NetworkAdapter | Select MacAddress), but are struggling to compare with a different Mac address without loop a whole script.
Thank you.
No, $macTab is defined as a table of hash on the first line.
It could be that the MAC address is not available on some guests.
Try the next version, I added a Where-Object to eliminate expectations of customers.
$macTab = @{} foreach($vm in Get-VM){ Get-NetworkAdapter -VM $vm | where {$_.MacAddress} | %{ if($macTab.ContainsKey($_.MacAddress)){ Write-Host "Duplicate MAC address" $_.MacAddress "in" $vm.Name "and" $macTab[$_.MacAddress] } else{ $macTab[$_.MacAddress] = $vm.Name } } }

When a computer XP starts, the following errors occur. Can't find Mac addresses, can't find DHCP at startup. PC is not connected to a network.
Why would it gives this error at startup?
It is not a Windows problem, it happens very early in the boot process until Windows is still a part of the image. Your computer is configured for a remote network via PXE boot and there is no this PXE server so that you get this error message. With PXE network boot, you can start a computer without him having a hard drive, the operating system resides on another machine on the network. When the BIOS does not find the PXE server it gives you the error message, and then it proceeds to the next start equipment, which is probably your local hard drive. Go into the BIOS and disable the PXE boot option or move it to the bottom of the boot order so that the hard drive is set as the primary boot device.

Need a list of MAC addresses for all VMs in vcenter

Hello, RadarG-
You can do this quickly with something like:
Get-View -Viewtype VirtualMachine -Property Name, Config.Hardware.Device | ` Select name, @{n="MAC(s)"; e={($_.Config.Hardware.Device | ?{($_ -is [VMware.Vim.VirtualEthernetCard])} | %{$_.MacAddress}) -join ","}} | ` Export-Csv c:\temp\VMMACsInfo.csv -UseCulture -NoTypeInformation
"It was essentially my post vNugglets.com" find VM with PowerShell - Fast as NETWORK card MAC address!. If you are wanting just a list ivnventory of MAC addresses of your virtual machines, will be good. But, if you are looking for a virtual machine by MAC address, or are perhaps looking for duplicates, there are other easier ways.
Recently, I did 3 three MAC address of related messages (see to The MAC address of label to vNugglets). There are to find virtual machines by MAC address, find MAC address duplicated and configuration of the MAC addresses on the VMs.
Enjoy.

How to find the Mac address on the body of Hp8440p?
Hi guys,.
How to find Mac address on the body of HP8440p without opening the laptop and find yourself from the bios or through ipconfig?
Thank you
Hello:
You won't be able to find it without at least through ipconfig.
Your laptop will have at least 2 MAC addresses, this is why they won't be on the case of anywhere.
You will have access through windows or remove the wireless card and write down the MAC address of that.

where can I find the mac address for Airport Extreme
just bought a new Airport Extreme 802.11ac and I don't know here to find the MAC ADDRESS. Can someone tell me where to look. I have the model and serial number, but can not find the MAC ADDRESS.
Is the AirPort Extreme, set up and operation right now... even if he could not have an Internet connection?
If Yes... Open the AirPort on your Mac utility... (Finder > Applications > utilities > AirPort Utility)
Hold down the option key on your Mac when you double-click on the image of the AirPort Extreme
The next page will display a summary of the parameters
The AirPort Extreme has done 3 different MAC addresses... Ethernet, WiFi 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WiFi. If your AirPort Extreme is connected to a modem by an Ethernet cable, then the Ethernet ID is the MAC address.
If the AirPort Extreme has not set up yet at all...
Open AirPort Utility as above, and then click the file menu in the upper left corner of the screen next to the Apple icon
Click on configure the other
For address, enter 10.0.1.1
A password is normally not necessary, but if you are prompted for a password, use the word
public
Click OK, the settings summary page is displayed. In most cases, given that the AirPort Extreme connects to a modem via an Ethernet connection, you want to use the Ethernet ID as the MAC address.
If you are still experiencing difficulties, you have 90 days of support Apple phone. Call them and maybe they can explain why that should be a very simple task is so difficult.

Is it possible to find the MAC address in Microsoft Windows computers.
Original title: help
its possible find in microsoft net computers IP - MAC address, and where I need to write if I run toHello
Yes, the MAC address is present in every system that connects to the Internet and runs any version of Windows.
MAC address stands for Media Access Control (MAC address) is a unique identifier assigned to the network interfaces for communications on the physical network segment.
To find the MAC address on Windows XP computer try the steps below.
(a) click the start menu button in the Windows taskbar.
(b) click 'run... '. "in this menu.
(c) type "cmd" in the text box that appears. A command prompt window launches on the desktop.
(d) in the command window, type ' ipconfig/all'. The details are displayed for each of the network adapters on the computer. Computers installed with the software VPN or software emulation will have one or more virtual cards.
(e) the "IP address" field contains the IP address of the network card.
(f) the 'physical address' field contains the MAC address of the card.

Find the offending MAC address to bpduguard
I have a Cisco WS-C6509-E with IOS, connected to a hypervisor with several virtual machines on it.
The port on the 6500 that connects to the hypervisor is a trunk port and allowed to bpduguard.
One of the virtual machines is originally the port pass to err - disable State by sending BPDUS. I'm trying to figure out which, the Cisco itself. Specifically, I'm trying to find the MAC address of the virtual machines.
Is this possible? I watched with full spanning tree debugging on debugging, but all I get is that the port will in err - disable. He's going to tell me what is the address MAC offending (or anything on the BPDUS).
Short of stripping the VLAN on the trunk, until I have the network guilty (which won't actually give me guilty unit but rather, only sound VLAN), I don't know if there is a direct command or debug to give me this information directly. Can anyone help?
Hello
Try extending over the port and capture some of the traffic.
Thank you
