Find the name of host or IP address of the Workstation client of Virtual Office

Hello

I want to find the name or IP address of the workstation of the user within the virtual desktop OS.  Both are Windows XP.  The reason is that I want to run a logon script to run an application on the virtual desktop that establishes a network connection on the user's desktop.  For example:

(1) user establishes a connection from their local workstation (IP: 10.1.1.25) to a virtual office

(2) the command runs on the virtual desktop that retrieves the name of the host or IP of the virtualdesktop (10.1.1.25)

(3) another command is running on the virtual desktop, which establishes a local network on the virtual desktop to workstation(IP:10.1.1.25) connection of the user

(4) users and I are happy because it's all automatic

Anyone have any ideas?

Thank you!

KO

Hello

There are several ways to do what you want. The easiest way is to use the local environment variable %CLIENTNAME%.

Go in the virtual desktop from the command line, type: echo %CLIENTNAME%

Now you should see the name where the client connects from the client.

What you have to do is to write a script that gets the variable ping, of the environment, the name and read the answer which is the IP address.

You can use the VB script that or a command script.

Thank you

Chris

Since your Office 2007 pre-installed with Toshiba, you should contact Toshiba to see if they will provide with Office recovery disks.

  • Satellite L650 - where to find the product key for Microsoft Office?

    Hello
I just bought the Toshiba Satellite L650.

I started using Word (Microsoft Office) but its tells me that I need a 25 character key, otherwise I can only use another 22 times.
Where can I get this key since I have nothing in the box your laptop came or have I been fooled into thinking it is bundled with the computer when it is not in fact and they only gave me a trial version?

    See you soon

    Hey,.

You're right partner, only a trial version of Microsoft Office is preinstalled. If you want the full version of Microsoft Office, you will need to buy it in a store of the computer.

An alternative, you can use the free OpenOffice. It s also very good software with a lot of function but it s for free. ;)

  • Closing and reopening the workstation with running virtual machines

I have recently upgraded to 10 Workstation and I am having a strange problem. In preferences, I have checked option which says "continue to VMs run after the closure of workstation. In workplace planned 9 this option worked exactly, but workstation 10 seems that partially works as expected. In Workstation 9 I could close my computer, and then open then in from the tray icon to always see my virtual machines running with the small green icon play on them. However, in the 10 workstation I close the workstation and all my virtual machines continue to run, but when I reopen it workstation all my virtual machines appear in the workstation as if they are off; but they run because I can RDP for them. If I right click on one of them all is grey with the exception of mark it as a favorite and delete. I can't power off, change the settings, see the console, or anything like that. The shows the icon that VMs are being run, but even suspend, stop or suspend tray icon options or background open VMs do not work either. The only way I found actually to get my computer working again is to use the Task Manager to kill the task of vmware - vmx.exe. As soon as the task is killed for each workstation running, they operate again in the workstation.

If anyone has encountered this problem, or know a fix for this? I have run several virtual machines and never have any idea that vmware - vmx.exe is for what VM when needing to change something on one of them. I make sure that I can kill them all in order to make a change to one of them.

Ok. I have this problem. However, the fix has been an awareness in desperate need of repair. I ended up uninstalling the VMware Workstation and then remove all references to the registry with REGEDIT. I then restarted the computer and reinstalled VMware Workstation again. After this heavy treatment, it works again the way it should work. It seems that the upgrade to the latest version of Workstation 9 to the latest version of 10 break something somewhere.

By the way, Dayworker, it was and is version 10.0.3.

  • How can I find the product key for microsoft office which is preloaded on my HP TouchSmart PC?

Trying to replace Office 2003 with Office 2010, which came preloaded on my HP TouchSmart PC, but he keeps invites me for a product key...

When you request support, please provide the number of name and/or product of comprehensive model of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq made thousands of computer models which are all different. Without this information, it can be difficult, even impossible to help you solve your problem.

As a general rule, the Microsoft Office product comes with most HP computers is a trial version or reduced functionality. Unless you paid extra for a version full of Office, it is unlikely that you have or that you will find a valid product key for Office.

    Please send Bravo

While Virtual PC 2007 is not supported for the publishing house, it will probably run on them, but you may have to click through a few error and warning messages if do you, so don't expect any help from Microsoft Technical Support for unsupported software.  You can still use this Forum for support in all cases.

This warranty covers the gambit set of VMS in the 'Home' versions if you want to have a look.  Of course you will need a licensed copy of XP, or other, to install and run in any of them.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones where can I find the Media Manager for my office?

OK I just looked at my records that I received with my BB Storm the other day.  It's the 9530.  There is only the VCast & BB media sync, but the button for Media Manager does not work... I watched the disc and there no Media Manager... now what?  I am running Windows Vista Premium Home OS, and I have the Desktop Manager 4.7 version.  Where the hell is the Media Manager and since I can't find it, y at - it a downloadable version of it somewhere on the net?  Please HELP I am ready to pull my hair!

I had to talk to the reps to Blackberry and apparently some discs did NOT have the media for a reason Manager any.  The option was left aside.

After much frustration, I finally got my answer.

Format your card of media phones first, it on your phone.  Once done you will have a folder on your computer, when the phone is plugged into the computer, which said device BLACKBERRY and BLACKBERRY Media Card.  You can simply drag and drop into specified folders (for me it was the videos).

If you already have a converter media it is the perfect way to do it and the video should be MP4 (at least that's all so far, I have converted)

For the Media Manager, go here: http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/ but make sure you that you have uninstalled the Manager of the desktop of your computer first, and then re - install using the download from the link above.  I did it and it works fine now.

FYI - the Roxio is slower than the second coming during the conversion.  First use the reformat your phone option, and then use roxio if you do not have a Media Converter.  There are other media there converters that are much faster.  I have one for my Zune that allows to convert a movie in about 20 minutes or more and then it's in the right format for the phone.

    Good luck.

  • Help! I can't find the scroll bars in Word, Office 2010!

Shortly after that I installed Office 2010, I was desperately trying to repair one imagine that I had added to my document, but somehow instead, I turned off scrollbars for windows! I tried to retrace my steps, but have no idea of what I did. The scroll bars are always present in all my other programs, but when I opened a Word document, new or old, there is no scroll bar. I have to use my arrows or previous page and page down to move through my documents. It's very embarrassing. Of course, I could use some help!

  • Unable to start the workstation on a virtual machine

    Hi all

    My requirement:

    =============

Windows 2008 is running as a virtual machine and install VMware Workstation 7.0 on

    Install ESX 4.1 installed desktop

    Problem:

    ========

When I try to turn on the virtual machine in workstation, he throws below error:

"Running on a virtual machine VMware Workstation requires the external virtual machine is configured to run a VMware ESX guest operating system." You may not power on a virtual machine until the external virtual machine is reconfigured. »

    Work to date

    =============

Yesterday have searched communities and the net for about 10 hours to find a solution and got the answer by almost all sites below:

    1. Add this line monitor.virtual_exec = 'material' on an external virtual computer (average in the Windows 2008 VM's vmx file)

    2. Add this line monitor_control.restrict_backdoor = "TRUE" on an internal virtual computer (refers to the vmx ESX VM file that I created on my computer)

But it does not work. I get the same error as above.

I'm fighting. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you and best regards,

    Pravin Goyal

    Add

vmx.allowNested = "true" for the two files

    you do NOT have

    Monitor.virtual_exec = "hardware".

    in the external vmx

stop this vm - last time you suspended - who will crush vmx - changes you make.

You remember you unregister and register again the vmx file?

BTW - this is the most delicate combination - why would you have a 64-bit external VM?

Anyway - he is a hopeless case - it does not work

  • How to find the IP address of the virtual machines from the host Linux

    Hello

Y at - it a tool that can resolve the IP address of the linux host running VMS, when using NAT and DHCP networking?

I can find by logging on virtual machines, but I need to retrieve automatically these addresses for the host scripts will not have to be changed manually when IPs change.

    Thank you

    Host: Ubuntu 8.10 64 bit, WS6.5

Probably the easiest solution is to use static IP addresses... Having said that, what I meant was:

Each machine (real and virtual) has a unique MAC address. If I create a file (database type) with the name and the MAC address of each virtual machine, then I could use nmap or arp commands to get the IP address. For example, I create a table and put it in a file like this:

    VMName1 00:14:BF:19:45:61

    VMName2 00:0E:5 C: 1 has: 44:1E

Name of the machine 3. etc.

Then I could run a combination of arp and/or nmap to find the MAC address of active machines and their respective IP addresses. For example, running:

    sudo nmap - sP 10.0.2.0/24

This gives on my local network:

    Starting Nmap 4.76 ( http://nmap.org ) at 2009-08-14 18:09 EDT

Host 10.0.2.1 seems to be upward.

    MAC address: 00:14:BF:19:45:61 (Cisco-Linksys)

Host 10.0.2.99 appears to be upward.

    MAC address: 00:10:83:BB:08:99 (Hewlett-Packard Company)

Host 10.0.2.130 appears to be upward.

    MAC address: 00:0E:5 C: 1 has: 44:1E (Motorola BCS)

Host 10.0.2.134 appears to be upward.

Nmap done: 256 IPS (4 hosts upward) scanned at 3.71 seconds

So, now, I know that the machine VMName1 with MAC 00:14:BF:19:45:61 has IP 10.0.2.1 and is it my Linksys router.

    Just a thought.

    Hello

I work in an environment where we use the thin client (Sun ray DTU) to connect to sessions. The sessions are communicated through solaris servers, and windows servers. Explain further, the thin client connects user to the layers of solaris that connects to windows to allow the user a session window. Window servers are in a private domain. I work as a security consultant in the business and use a management software log for surveillance of newspapers. I collect the windows logs via the software (Application, security, installation, System) agent. My question is, HOW do I GET the MAC ADDRESS OF THE THIN CLIENTS? I have the IP address, username etc but not the mac address of the workstation. However - the TASK MANAGER and REMOTE DESKTOP SERVICES MANAGER give the MAC address in the CLIENT NAME. I raised the level of the event log to ' 5 "(through registry), enabled all policies audit with categories and subcategories as well but always without success."
