Firefox 3.5.19 won't stop up-to-date on intel no max OSX 10.5 How to stop the attempt to download continuous dutomatic 3.6.18?

By clicking on the "Help" menu shows that Firefox is continually trying to access the server showing a "Download Firefox 3.6.18' which it never ends.
I am going to Firefox Homepage to download the lasted from Firefox and get message, unfortunately, that the latest version of Firefox is not compatible with the operating system of your computer
I use Mac OS x 10.5 on the dual 2 GHz processor no intel Mac.
How can I stop Firefox trying try to download the update 3.6.18 whenever I have an internet connection?

If the files have already been downloaded, you must delete the files in the folder of updates/0 in Firefox and updates installation folder.
You can remove active - update.xml and updates.xml so if any.
