Firefox clicking 20 private browsing to see a music video (ex. youtube) quite often opens the non-private tabs

When you surf privately from navigation (firefox 20 and windows operating system 7), often (not always) click to see a video clip (YouTube for example) opens the non-private tabs. I need more of the mouse
on the icon of firefox in the toolbar of quick start to show bowth ways to navigate and then open the incognito or tabs tab. Although I use chrome less then 5% of the time and 95% firefox it never happened
with chrome.

I think that I was distracted by the appearance of private/not private...

There is a bug with the Flash plugin (version 11.3 and older) on Windows 7, even in all the non-prive navigation, where opening a page with Flash media causes this window to move behind another window of Firefox - if no other page haven't used Flash in the past 3 minutes. You can learn more about this bug in this thread: opening of new windows and Shockwave Flash.

It is possible that the isolation between the private and non-private windows has compounded this problem, if each new window gets its own load of Flash, but I have not experienced with it all away to see if this seems to be the case.

  • first time using flash in private browsing content opens the non-private

I already asked this question (using firefox, 20 at the time) about 1 year. I leave a link to this thread for reference https://support.mozilla.org/pt-PT/questions/955788#answer-425110.

2 computers (a desktop and a computer laptop operating system: windows 7 and firefox 29.0.1 in both).

Basically what is going to happen, it's that if you open a private window and then use a flash content, first time you do this, the non-private window opens. You can easily return to the overing private window right-click the firefox icon and choosing the private window. A work about already presented by jscher2000 is to have a tab with flash content before opening the private browsig.
I raised this issue once again just to ask if there is any chance to fix this in the near future?
Thanks a lot for any input and please accept my greetings.

    HI JoaoNT,
Please check back with your question. It is a pleasure to help again. I understand that when you view flash content, the new window the opens the private window is no longer a private window. (forgive the verbosity)

I'll try to replicate this >

    1. A private window open a youtube.com page
    2. Right-click on one of the videos suggested to open in a new tab.

Results: It is opened in a new private window.

An other stepsbased in the stages of the adobe bug
(note I have updated to 12 and will also try that in 13)

    1. Open the test page
    2. Right click on the first result
    3. Choose the option "open in a new window of private".

Results: see private window to the top.

It seems good, what version of Flash are you using? I don't have a Netscape or other plugins, if these are disabled if the issue persists. (Most likely it will not make a difference)

  • Is there a way to tell Firefox to reload a page every time? I am a web designer and need to see what it looks like every time I open the pages that I do.

In Internet Explorer, you can configure the program to reload a web page each time you visit a page. I can't find a way to do it in FF. I prefer to only reload the Web sites that I work on rather than on the web, but it's probably not possible with any browser.

    Win 7 - x 64

    ATI Radeon HD 5670

Thanks for any help one can offer!

You can also reload webpages and ignore the cache to refresh potentially stale or corrupt.

    • Hold down the SHIFT key and click the Reload button
    • Press 'Ctrl + F5' or 'Ctrl + Shift + R' (Windows, Linux)
    • Press 'Command + shift + R' (Mac)

Can't follow your troubleshooting routine as I can't open Firefox at all!

based on what I've heard from other affected users I'm going to guess you have a built-in hd3000 graphics card intel on your system and the outdated drivers for it.
If this is the case, please perform a driver update: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=23764

  • Why Firefox hang when I open the printing preferences to print Web pages on my Dell 720 inkjet, after that Windows XP gives me the warning on a protection fault 0 x 0000005?

I can copy text from websites and paste it into MS Word, where I can print fine in B & W or color. I can print from wordpad, too. And I had no problems printing in Internet Explorer. I'm just cannot open the printing preferences window when you use Firefox 7.0.1 and I don't have any add-ons like "Print Print Preview Update" (Acrobat, Silverlight, Office, and a few others). Firefox crashes when I try to open the printing preferences, but I am still able to print, only in the default settings. I use a Dell 720 inkjet connected to an IBM Thinkpad R51e with reinstalled Windows XP Home Edition 2002 SP3, processor Intel Pentium M 1.73 GHz 1.87 GB RAM (added). I installed the printer driver before connecting the printer, and I use Avira antiviral software. This laptop has had problems in the past, but I don't want to give up on this. Please ask if you need more information.

I completely removed Firefox 7.0.1 and replaced by 5.0.1 and now I can open the printing preferences. Follow these instructions:

Create a system first, restore point if you want.

Then, click on start, Control Panel, programs and features. Uninstall Mozilla Firefox.

    Reach...

    If 32 bits...
    C:\Program Files

    If 64-bit...
    C:\Program Files (x 86)

And delete the Mozilla Firefox folder.

This should give you a fresh start. Then install the old version. Just bookmarks can be imported from Internet Explorer or registered before switching versions

  • One can see the cookies of session in private browsing mode - see only normal cookies.

    Using Firefox 19.0.2

Is it possible to allow Firefox to display ONLY the cookies of the current session in private browsing mode, rather than a list of my regular cookies?

First, basic cookies management seem to work fine for me, in both normal mode and private browsing: Cookies set during private browsing are removed as expected when you exit Firefox or switch to normal navigation.

    HOWEVER...

I can't SEE the new cookies set during a private browsing session.

If I start Firefox normally, switch to private browsing mode and then go to Options > show Cookies, the window opens showing a long list of my 'normal' cookies

Previously, the cookies window seems to be EMPTY at the start of a private browsing session. After a while of browsing and then recheck the list I see only the cookies set in this private browsing session.

Now, during a private session, when I re - check the list of cookies for navigation I see my regular cookies, and NONE of the new session cookies appear in this list (the same cookies appear as before switching to the private mode).

I tried to start Firefox in Mode safe, without a change in behavior. I also tried to disable the modules, without change.

    List of installed modules:

    Adblock Plus 2.2.3
    BetterPrivacy 1.6.8
    Ghostery 2.9.3
    Googlebar Lite 4.9.7
    IE View 1.5.6
    MICROSOFT.NET Framework Assistant 1.3.1
    PrivacyChoice TrackerBlock 2.2
    Status-4-Evar 2013.02.16.23
    Bookmark Favicon changer 1.74 (disabled)
    CheckPlaces 2.6.2 (disabled)

    Suggestions?

    Thank you!

  • Firefox will restore private after an accident browsing Web sites?

I was in private browsing and Firefox crashed. If someone else uses my computer just after the crash, 'restoration' firefox session restore websites visited in private browsing?

So, it's not possible because it would involve the recording of personal data on the hard drive and which does not occur when Firefox is in private browsing mode.
When you enter PB then all your current data session is stored on the disc and the PB mode session data is kept in memory and not recorded on the disc and is lost when Firefox crashes or is closed otherwise.
