Firefox redirects Windows 10 "Hey Cortana" search

I use Firefox on Windows 10 42.0. The operating system correctly recognize Firefox as my default browser and uses the search engine by default for most of the research of Cortana, but all initiated with "Hey Cortana" voice command are performed via Bing instead of my default search engine (no matter what it is defined on). This does not affect searches typed in Cortana or voice searches after clicking on the microphone icon in Cortana.

I tried to restart Firefox in Safe Mode and refreshing to the profile nothing helps. I checked the option "Use this search for Windows search engine" is checked and that the "browser.search.redirectWindowsSearch" on: config option is set to True (as well as manually activating / disabling the option of two places).

The setting worked at the first time in 40 of Firefox, but stopped some time ago.

Could you... Take the exact URL of your search results "Hey Cortana" page?

Windows adds different settings for different types of research generated by the system and Firefox changes the site search for adults that it is coded in order to manage, all the others just pass through unchanged. Currently, Firefox search form = or FORM = these:

  • WNSGPH
  • WNSBOX
  • WNSFC2

You may have discovered a new to be added.

Looks like someone has started the process of getting this problem but never gave this essential information:

I hope you have the secret.

  • How can I stop Firefox to redirect me to the Yahoo search engine

When I try to go to the official site for ATF Cleaner, Firefox redirects me to the Yahoo search engine.
I have removed all references to Yahoo in my registry and searched all the user for any reference to Yahoo profiles. I am running Firefox version 29.0.1 on Windows XP.

It is also possible that this problem is due to an add-on, maybe one who snuck on your system as part of a bundle.

In the case where one of your extensions is concerned, could test the page Firefox Safe Mode? It is a standard diagnostic tool to disable some advanced features of Firefox and extensions. More info: questions to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Mode safe mode using either:

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > restart with disabled modules
    • Help menu > restart with disabled modules

Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still works

After stops in Firefox, a small dialog box should appear. Click on 'Start mode safe' (not reset).

    Any difference?

  • 64-bit version of Firefox for Windows

    Hello

I was wondering how to get a 64-bit version of Firefox, for Windows 7. A search on the Internet shows these as being available on a few Web site:
    http://www.windows7download.com/
    http://www.firefox64bit.com/

I guess these are genuine, but I'm confused as to why they are not available on the Mozilla site. I searched on the support forum and found an answer that is one year old (http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/782154), which indicates that a 64-bit version may be available after 12 of Firefox. Unless I am confused about the nomenclature of versioning used, the latest version of Firefox is 24. Are there still not a 64 version, but official Firefox available for Windows?

Thank you and best regards, Ashok

Mozilla is not a version of Firefox 64-bit for Windows operating systems. Mozilla has every evening at the alpha level 64-bit versions for Windows, but currently they are generated to verify that this channel every night, the changes are not broken on 64-bit Windows versions.

There are a few 3rd party 64-built, like Waterfox, but these are not the official versions of Mozilla.

  • I am unable to Type or use the keyboard in Firefox 18.0 anywhere, including the search bar and URL bar. How should I fix this?

I am unable to type anything or use the keyboard to type in Firefox. I use Firefox 18.0 installed on Windows 7.
I am able to paste in the URL bar and the search bar, but absolutely not able to type in it.
I already tried the 'reset' option but are still unable to type.
Also tried Firefox in safe mode with disabled addons but are still unable to type.
Install a new copy of firefox after Firefox uninstall and delete the old "Mozilla Firefox" in windows folder. but always impossible to type.
Please tell me a solution to this.

Have you tried restarting the computer?

It is possible that you have activated the keyboard by chance to one who does not work in Firefox.

Windows remembers the setting by application keyboard layout and you have probably changed the keyboard by accident via a keyboard shortcut.

    • Make sure you have the language bar visible on the Windows taskbar
    • You can do this via the context menu of the taskbar: toolbars > language bar
    • Check the language setting (keyboard) keyboard for the application that has focus via the icon in the language bar
    • You need to do that while Firefox has focus because Windows remember the keyboard by application setting

Control Panel > regional and Language Options > keyboards and languages > change keyboards > advanced key settings > change key sequence

  • Firefox redirects to google when server not found

If I do a typing error in the address bar (for example, instead of www ww), instead of getting a message saying that the site is not found, Firefox started to take me to a page of Google search for the URL I typed in.

Also, if I click on a link in a web page and the server in the connection no longer exists, I should get a message saying that the server is not found, but I'm redirected to a google search for the domain name in the link. It's confusing.

SOLUTION: This was caused by the http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk EasyFundRaising toolbar (which I think could rest on the Google toolbar?)

After disabling this plugin, the problem disappeared. I have notified the EasyFundRaising to this issue.

  • Java is no longer listed or usable in Firefox on Windows 10

New questions. After the upgrade to Windows 10 Java is more listed as a plugin available, is not usable. Content is unable to use / access the plugin. I tried to uninstall and reinstall 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Java, just in case. How to restore the ability of Java for Firefox? It is the same for all versions of Firefox and my other computer that is running Windows 10 has the same problem. Thank you.

Hi, 64-bit versions of firefox on windows currently do support the version of the flash plugin. If you want to use java, please continue to use the regular 32 bit versions of firefox.

Good afternoon. Please tell me if firefox for windows phone?

No, there is no development in this direction - when everything is available on WP who is called "Firefox" then it is not genuine and probably a trade mark infringement which must be reported to https://www.mozilla.org/about/legal/fraud-report/

  • Firefox on windows 8.1 is AutoFill password field when autocomplete is disabled.

    Hello.

Firefox (latest version) for windows is auto-fill a password field, even with AutoComplete is turned off.

The HTML code for the fields are:

    < input name = seized semiautomatic "member_password1" = "off" type = "password" >

    < input name = seized semiautomatic "member_password2" = "off" type = "password" >

Leave the empty password to automatically generate a password

In all other browsers, it works very well, and the saved password is not added, but Firefox on Windows 8.1 it is be populated automatically, with the registered user password.

Thanks - I'll see what I can find. Almost a shame Mozilla simply ignores these fields well.

    Such is life!

  • Problems on Firefox for Windows 10

    Computer details:
Technical preview generator Windows 10 build 10074
GPU drivers: 14,12 official latest drivers AMD (NOT of DRIVERS BETA WINDOWS)
    Firefox version: 38.0.1
    Build ID: 20150513174244

The problem is one that can be seen in the attached screenshot. I showed the finger every place in the bookmarks toolbar and especially where the icons disappear randomly. This also applies to most of the icons/images in the page. This happens especially when CTRL + TAB / ALT + TAB in Facebook, but as has happened in some other sites.

This happened in the same build of Windows with the previous (I think as 38.0.0) version of Firefox. Windows has been reinstalled and it kept happening. Tried to disable all add-ins and I tried to start Firefox in safe mode, nothing has helped at all.
Attached to the troubleshooting information in case this help.

Now, Firefox is UNUSABLE due to constant crashes and glitches of visualization, all part of the same program.

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

    • Tools > Options > advanced > General > Browsing: "use hardware acceleration when available.

You will need to close and restart Firefox after enabling/disabling this setting.

  • Firefox for Windows Phone

Why not develop a Version of WP in Firefox?

    It will certainly help you.

I know that 25 per cent of mobile users use WP.

And thousands of users want Firefox for WP too!

I'm not a developer of Firefox, but as far as I know, due to the policy of windows app store there is a technical barrier to the deployment of Firefox on windows phone. And Mozilla is also trying to put all efforts here on FirefoxOS (mobile operating system new here). So maybe it's why they aren't creation of Firefox for Windows mobile.
But can you please cite the source that shows that 25% of mobile users use windows phone!

  • Try to find a mozilla download site to download firefox for windows using a version of linux because my version of windows does not work.

There are several sites that offer downloads of Firefox.
    I don't trust anything but mozilla.org

But I can't find a download button on mozilla.

I use Linux because my firefox on Windows 7 no longer works and the default download seems to be a Linux version of firefox.

How can I download a version of windows?

Why Firefox stop working. I have download Tunein Radio - program - and it looked as if he was installing junkware.
I stopped the download but it seems to have already installed what is called the file opener. I uninstalled fire opener.

That may have caused the problem

Hello, you will find the download links for all supported systems and languages to https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

If you think that the problem on your system is caused by malware, it is probably advisable to run a full scan of your system with security tools like the free version of malwarebytes & adwcleaner, which are specialized in the adware and browser hijackers.

Hi vijaysampath, please make sure first that the date, time, and time zone are set correctly on your system. If this does not solve the problem (or it is already set correctly), a possible solution depends on different factors:

    • What is the error code indicated under Technical Details on the error page?

in case the error code is equal to sec_error_unknown_issuer, please try to add an exception on the bottom of the error page to verify the certificate, as shown on the attached screenshot:

    • What information about the issuer of the certificate contain?

Please take these two pieces of information. Thank you!

  • conflicts of Outlook and firefox on Windows XP 32-bit

    Problem reports and fix:
Latest Firefox on Windows XP 32-bit.

Earlier, Microsoft Office updates have been applied in the past months.

There were a lot of problems where Outlook and Firefox seem to share the same video address space, parts of Windows Outlook appeared in the windows of Firefox and vice verse. It's a pain. I needed to have one or another stop for each other at work and then things got worse than that, Firefox crashing very often. So I did a system restore to the 01/01/2015, which has removed the MS Office updates. Then Firefox and then didn't start because he didn't like the system restore. Reinstalled Firefox on top of Firefox [uninstall] and it starts now.

Now, Firefox and Outlook work well. Will not apply to MS Office updates as MS is not stable or worrying questions about Windows XP.

The problem has been fixed. You are implying that restored system restored a video driver update and that was not the case. Yes, the video display problem in question, but it doesn't seem to be a video driver issue.

I posted with the solution so that it would be here if someone had a similar problem. I don't know why you trying to tell me how to fix something I said has been set.
