Firefox took my Adobe Acrobat documents.

By "support" I mean he's changed the icons of Adobe Reader to the FF one. When I click Properties it shows that they open with Adobe Reader, and they do. When I click on 'Edit', Firefox is highlighted (!) and the "always use the selected program to open this type of file" is greyed out and checked (!).

I went to "folder options", "file types", with Adobe Reader PDF files, but it says "to restore these files to their default type (Firefox HTML document) click 'Restore'.

I'm not kidding people. FF went to the registry and change the default values for the pdf files?

I think this all started when I FF my default browser. I went back to Chrome, made of Chrome the default browser, no luck.

Thank you for your suggestions.

I think that simply edit the value and delete the current text of the FirefoxHTML, so you get a value of empty string.

  • Access to an Adobe Acrobat document

I have Adobe Reader 9.  I downloaded an Adobe Acrobat document.  I can't access it.  Whenever I try, I get the message "file not found.  Check the file name and try again. »

Are you able to open other PDF with Adobe Reader files - if so there is nothing wrong with the drive.

Looks like the download did not complete successfully (or there is a problem with the download).  Right-click on the Adobe document and click Properties and see if it has a reasonable file size or if it shows 0 bytes - so we'lll know if the file has a problem.  Try to download it again and save it to the desktop and see if you have a better chance.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Adobe Acrobat file vs PDF file

I have 15 computers that are all exactly the same, same hardware and Windows image. It is an upgrade from older systems.

When you try to save a Word document in PDF format, an error message comes up saying there is no program associated with this file, which never happened with the old computers. Then after having attempted to the research question, anything useful really came. I tried to uninstall and reinstall Adobe Reader and it seemed to solve the problem, but only on one of the computers. I looked in the default program associations in Windows and realized that there was a difference between this computer and other. On the work computer, .pdf files are described as "Adobe Acrobat Document" while on non-working computers, it is described as a "PDF".
    acrobatfile.PNG

    Working

    pdffile.PNG

    Non-working

I also realize beforehand that the icons for .pdfs differed both on new computers, but I don't think much until that this issue was raised. This is the same document on a USB but connected on different computers.

    acrobatfileicon.PNGpdffileicon.PNG

All I did to fix the new computer has been re - install drive and it works, so I don't know why there not on all others. I even tried to repair drive and that did nothing. I used the same setup file for each of them as well, the latest version from the Adobe (AdbeRdr11009_en_US.exe) site

I'm quite lost now not finding is not any information about it online, so now I come to the help forums.

So I finally got this fixed to date and documented all of my steps. I had checked the registry with regedit first and the entries seemed to be same for computers, but it always seems to be a registry problem. I had checked the entry .pdf and AcroExch those, and they seemed very well. The "'pdf_auto_file ' seems to be the cause of the problem."

    (1) I used the "Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool" that pwillener linked to above.

    (2) run CCleaner registry cleaner. The first time you run it, it should have this:

    Opened with the question of the Application "C:\Program Files (x 86) \Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe ' HKCR\pdf_auto_file\shell\Read '%1 '.

Run it again after that and it should be this one:

Invalid or empty file class pdf_auto_file HKCR\pdf_auto_file

You can run it again if you want and it will have this, but you can also simply open a .pdf file after installing the drive and choose the drive as the default:

    The Extension of PDF - pdf_auto_file HKCR\.pdf

I ran the regular cleaning of CCleaner as well, but I don't think it's necessary. Always a good thing to do but anyway.

    (3) install Reader, pretty easy.

It should work fine after that. I noticed that after restarting of the desktop and the start menu icons have disappeared, so just running the installation again as an update puts back in the start menu where you can get a desktop icon again if you need.

Thanks for the help pwillener and Bernd at

  • How add/remove/rename the scanning presets in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro?

I'll put up a new scanner in our society. We would like to analyze with Adobe Acrobat (Document-> Scan to PDF). Now, there is only 4 presets (like 'Black & White Document', 'Color paper' etc.). Of course, we have our own digitization standards and often scan special formats such as passports etc. So, how can we add, remove, and change the names of the existing presets?

Of course, he has to work somehow like Adobe don't expect all their customers to work with four standard presets. But how can I do? I was looking everywhere for it but can't find it.

    Thanks for your help!

    Simon

    Presets.jpg

    Hi Simon,.

In the latest version of Acrobat, there is no provision for creating, deleting or changing the names of the existing presets.

However, you can configure the available presets to customize according to your needs.

For customization of presets, you can perform the following steps:

1: go to Document > Scan to PDF > configure presets.

2: select the preset you want to configure in the drop down preset menu.

3; Customize the settings according to your requirement.

    4: save the preset.

You can now use the saved preset to scan the document with your favorite settings.

  • I don't have the option "use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox) for the Application PDF

My accounting software runs on a Mozilla browser. When I saw the reports, it downloads it instead of preview of the report in a new window. My instructions are to go to the Options/Applications Mozilla browser and replace Portable Document Format "use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox) - but this option does not exist.

In addition, how to add Applications?

The plugin can be disabled, which means, set to 'never activate', on the plugins page. I think that the forum does not detect it when you posted (see Question details > System Details more).

To verify that you can open the page modules using either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click on Plugins. On the right side, look for Adobe Acrobat. If it is disabled, it will be down on a gray box.

If your plugin is very outdated, it can be disabled for security reasons. In this case, I suggest entering your product Adobe (Reader or Acrobat) and using the Help menu > check for updates.

Update the main program should also update the plugin. If all goes well then you will be able to use again.

  • From today, Firefox will not open the files Adobe Acrobat to Adobe Reader, despite my player put as a default value in the Applications tab.

Until today, I had no trouble opening the files Adobe Acrobat with Adobe Reader 9.5. (I need to use an older version of Adobe Reader, because I use a program called Macro Express, which does not recognize later versions.) As of this morning, when I click on a file Acrobat, I wonder what program I want to open it with. Even when I click on 'do this automatically... ". ', it is not doing. He asks me every time. I went to tools, Applications and changed all the questions to open with Adobe Reader related 9.5 pdf. This also does not work.

access firefox options > applications and set the default action for the portable document (pdf) format.

  • Firefox said that my Adobe Acrobat was out of date, so I have updated to the latest version of the Adobe Web site. Firefox has always said it is obsolete.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I've updated to the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, but Firefox has always said that it is obsolete. I had the Version of Adobe Reader installed 11.0.12.18. The Adobe Acrobat Reader DC uninstalled Adobe Reader software. I read that the DC version is still buggy. I think I'll uninstall Adobe Acrobat Reader DC and reinstall Adobe Reader. Furthermore, I haven't opened the DC application and updates, but there is not. When I had Adobe Reader installed I noticed in the Firefox options under applications menu there is an option to use Adobe Reader (by default). I think I'll try this option. Any advice would be appreciated.

Obsolete false warning for Adobe Acrobat Reader is a known problem, but unfortunately there is no way to repair at the moment (we are not the developers on this forum, just guys who want to help users).

  • 29 Firefox beat Adobe Acrobat - create PDF 1.2

Adobe Acrobat - create PDF 1.2 (installed by Adobe Acrobat x Pro) worked upward for Firefox 29. I use this all the time, it's the only way to capture pages with drop-down answers. I started 28 of Firefox. Is there a solution to this?

Didn't, thank you for this report.

  • Why, after update plug-ins by the system of firefox [specifically adobe acrobat 10.1.4.38] it does not recognize it and says I need to update?

This happened on & off for a while. I tried updating via firefox, uninstall and update in acrobat and firefox. He says updating but the version does not change and cannot find any evidence, he did. Even uninstall always reinstalled 10.1.4.38 - the same version that I've had since started using firefox.
Also, today I updated 'Shockwave Flash' at the same place & update says it still need to be updated (don't remember which version he says), but I had disabled Shockwave for Director "." When I gave the update kept saying to update Flash.

Any chance there is a link between Acrobat & something similar to the 'Director' which will help to update recognize? A program distant cousin?

Hi Uptown22, I guess you tried to restart Windows to see if the Adobe Reader update ends after a restart, or if the update from Adobe works best when the system has just been restarted and that you did not start Firefox or any other program that could use Adobe files. If this isn't the case, you might want to try it.

If you check on Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat in your Adobe product, which version actually installed?

If you have a version higher than 10.1.4:

Search many PDF plugins on your system might try either of the following:

    • full search of drive C for nppdf32.dll (be sure to search in hidden folders) - you need to check the version properties to determine if they meet your true version
    • Secunia PSI (free for use on non-professional computers): http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal/ - will find obsolete plugins and in its advanced mode show you the location on disk
  • I am trying to load Farmville, but Firefox plug-in required (adobe acrobat), go to install it says it fails because it's already there and up to date?

Firefox tells me that I need Adobe plugin, but when I check my plug ins, it tells me it's there and updated:
    Adobe Acrobat
Adobe PDF plugin for Firefox and Netscape 10.1.4 10.1.4.38 updated
When I try to start Farmville on Facebook, it just sits there spinning its wheels. How can I get to recognize Adobe?

    Thank you

In fact, he probably needs Adobe Flash Player AKA Shockwave Flash.

You can get Flash starting at the following test page. Make sure to "uncheck" all the extras you don't want before you download the installation program. You can restart Firefox after installation of Flash to make sure Firefox detects the new plugin.

  • Photosmart HP 7510: Scanned Documents not previewed in Adobe Acrobat

Until recently, when I scanned a document Adobe Acrobat open with the scanned document. But he started at the time of opening to the top of the preview in Adobe Reader. I clicked on 'default value' now, it does not open any adobe program.

I went to the 'HP printer Assistant' and 'Document to email' and 'Document to File' both have the box "Preview Scan" checked.

How can I get the machine to open Adobe Acrobat with the scanned document as he has already done

    Hello cfmutton911,

    Welcome to the HP Forums.

I see that you experience a problem when you attempt to preview Adobe.

I've seen similar problems with Adobe in the past.  I suggest you check the Adobe website to see if updates have been added.  If you did the Windows updates recently, you can try to do a restore of the system on your computer.

Here is the link to the site of Adobe support.

    Thanks for your time.

    See you soon,.
